Chapter 417

The days passed by and the road during the summer season was hot and humid but the view of the forest and the mountains rarely touched by man was so pristine and beautiful that Mark felt like he was living inside a dream-like painting.

The occasional magic animals and monsters that came out from those beautiful sceneries brought out spiciness in their lives that it felt like everything was calm in one moment then suddenly the calm would be flavored by mild turbulence.

The journey on the road and the ever-changing sceneries brought out joy in Mark’s life that he thought he didn’t need. He had always thought that as an introvert and otaku, he could live inside his room without ever going out as long as he had access to the internet but after viewing the grandness and beauty of the world, he could now understand why people had this longing of undergoing journeys.

The nights were also a welcoming treat for Mark’s soul since the whole circus was enveloped in the glow of camaraderie and closeness. It would fill an emptiness in one’s soul that came from missing one’s family since if you were in the circus, you were not without family.

The laughter and music that floated around in the air during their camping in the night was magic incarnate. The occasional monster attacks, though very dangerous, keep everything in perspective since one would never forget that in this world, danger lurks everywhere and one should always be vigilant.

The villagers and towns that the circus passed and stopped for a day or two made Mark happy as well since it felt like he was living to bring joy to people in this world even just for a day or two. The delighted faces of the people watching the acts made him truly happy and he could understand why the people in the circus kept doing what they had been doing for hundreds of years.

Mark also went back to selling candies and treats for very cheap in every village and town that they stopped by and sometimes he even gave them away to children who couldn’t afford to purchase his candies even though they were already extremely cheap.

He kept doing it at every stop that Mark had earned a somewhat funny reputation as the wizard candy seller and children were already waiting for him to set up his stall every time the circus stopped somewhere. Mark was a bit impressed at how fast a reputation could spread that even the children already knew who he was the moment the circus entered the vicinity of any villages and towns.

The children would be the first to greet the circus and then they would shout “Mark the candy seller is here!” several times. Hamil and the others were highly amused. Everyone was calling him the “Candy seller” but the main reason why his name was becoming beloved by the children was he was practically giving away the treats and candies for free and he didn’t discriminate or limit anyone. The only rule that he had was that he would only sell treats and candies for two hours every day every time the circus stopped anywhere.

“Why are you giving away so many candies?” Isaac asked one time.

“Because I can and I like seeing the happy faces of children.”

The three kids would then hug him fiercely and they would run off to play.

During their travel, Toby and some of the other circus people would pester Mark to set up the servers for the Star Wars The Old Republic Online Game even just for a day while they were in a village or town. He finally relented and taught Nedertu and Connor in detail how to set up and connect everything so the only thing that he would do when they stopped somewhere was retrieve the desktop computers, CPU servers, generator, and fuel from his inventory and Nedertu, Connor and their friends who they taught how to connect everything would handle the rest.

Mark was surprised that the net gaming café had such an impact since he thought that if there was an impact from the network game, it would be very minimal since there were already actual dungeons that people could enter and have their adventure. Nedertu told him once that it was because it was an adventure without the danger to their real selves and the novelty of adventuring in space and different planets was exciting. Not only that, according to his driver, the game also relaxes their mind.

During their journey to the city of Melona, the most dangerous encounter that the circus chance upon was the two basilisks that attacked them. Normally with powerful monsters like that, it was inevitable that some people would be sacrificed but with the help of Yoda and the Plant Golems, no one was hurt. When the basilisks used their eye powers to turn someone into stone, it was blocked by either the void dragon or the plant golems.

The void dragon was so huge that the basilisks gave up on trying to turn Yoda into stone and Mark would just summon the plant golems again when they turned into stone. The whole circus cheered when the basilisks were killed. They cheered because nobody got hurt and the basilisks’ corpses were monsters that were full of treasure. Another bonus was the two basilisks were very fierce because they were protecting their nest which had a single egg.

Zenethor was ecstatic because apparently, they could tame the basilisk that would come out from the egg and add the little monsters to their zoo collection.

“Isn’t that dangerous? What will happen if your baby basilisk turns someone into stone?”

“We can remove that skill from the basilisk when they’re babies,” Zenethor simply answered.

After that interlude, they continue their journey to the city of Melona.

In the meantime, Mark thought about adding his unused stat and skill points to his character panel but he was feeling lazy and decided he would do that at a later time before he opened the warp gate that would connect this world to Earth so he could invite his friends from his home planet to join him in having grand adventures to this fantasy world.

Soon the time arrived during their travel that the weather was so hot that nobody wanted to leave their carriages. Everyone was so happy that the circus was wealthy enough that every carriage could afford a magic rune that controlled temperature and the magic stones that fueled it.

Mark also fulfilled the twin’s request of vacationing in the oasis paradise for a couple of days so he talked to Hamil and the circus agreed to stop in one of the villages for three days and for those days, the circus people would go inside the oasis paradise in batches for a few hours.

The villagers were a bit confused though that the circus didn’t set up any attractions when they camped near them and Hamil had to explain to them that the circus was resting. The villagers were sad but they just shrugged and continued on with their lives.

The circus children were so ecstatic while playing in the lake and Mark could see that everyone enjoyed their vacation to that magical place. The fact that Mark was also very generous in providing everyone with delicious food while they were inside the Oasis Paradise made the vacation truly something worth remembering for the rest of their lives.
