Chapter 27: Blood Red Sword
The Lost Demon
The demon smirked, loosening his grip on his sword. "I'll make this easy for all of you," he said, tossing it aside with a clang.
Demon Girl scoffed. "That's dumb," she muttered, raising her hand to conjure a brilliant blue flame. She hurled it at the demon, but with lightning speed, he grabbed Scarlett, using her as a shield.
Demon Girl's eyes widened. Acting quickly, she detonated the blue flame mid-air, sparing Scarlett from harm.
"How dare you use my daughter as a shield!" Kiki roared, his voice trembling with fury.
The demon sneered. "Oh, Kiki, always the outsider. Always unworthy. Do you even know why the King of Hell despised you?"
With that, the demon lunged forward, seizing Kiki's head in his massive hand, attempting to crush his skull. Kiki struggled, his face contorted in pain.
Demon Girl reacted, activating her Time Lock ability to freeze the demon in place, but he shattered it effortlessly.
"Did you truly think time could restrain me?" the demon mocked. "The so-called King of Time failed. Who are you compared to him?"
Kiki, gritting his teeth, summoned his time-manipulation powers. He accelerated the flow of time in the demon's heart while slowing it in his body. The demon flinched, clutching his chest.
"Ouch," the demon growled, recovering quickly. With a flick of his hand, he conjured a blue flame and hurled it at Kiki.
Demon Girl's jaw dropped. "How did you do that?"
The demon grinned. "I copied you, little one. And I must say, I'm proud. You've created something uniquely yours. Too bad it wasn't enough."
Demon Girl's fists clenched, anger surging within her. "It took me years to master that power, and you stole it in seconds!" She extended her fingers, firing a barrage of a thousand blue flames infused with her own blood.
The demon danced around the attack, dodging each one with ease. "Impressive, but not enough."
Meanwhile, Scarlett had inched her way toward the Demon Queen, attempting to free her from her restraints. Demon Girl noticed this and realized they just needed more time.
"Kiki!" she called out. "You need to hold him in place with your time control!"
Kiki nodded, raising his trembling hands. He focused all his energy on trapping the demon within a temporal bind. The strain was immense, sweat dripping from his forehead as he struggled to contain the powerful foe.
The demon laughed, his voice reverberating through the battlefield. "This won't work. Your powers are weak!"
Demon Girl ignored him, spreading her wings wide. Her hands glowed as she clasped them together. "Demon King, Demon Queen... I am the child of both. To all demons of Hell, grant me your power!"
A crimson light surged toward her, engulfing her hands and forming into a blood-red sword. With a battle cry, she charged at the demon and swung the blade with all her might, severing his head.
"We did it," Kiki said, exhaling in relief.
But Demon Girl shook her head. "No... it's not over."
Kiki frowned. "Why not?"
"Because," Demon Girl said grimly, "he can't die."
The demon's severed head cackled as it floated back to his body, reattaching itself. His eyes glinted with malice.
"If you use a sword," the demon said, summoning a weapon of his own, "then so will I."
