Chapter 28: The ruler of hell
The sword gleamed with a dark, malevolent aura. The demon held it aloft, its blade whispering with power. His voice was calm, yet laced with menace. "Demon Girl, my little princess," he said, a twisted grin spreading across his face. "You recognize this, don't you?"
Demon Girl froze, her wide eyes blackening as tears streamed down her face. Her voice cracked when she spoke. "That... that's my father's sword."
Her body trembled, but fury quickly replaced her shock. With a blood-curdling scream, she charged, the blood-red sword in her hand glowing with raw energy. She slashed at the demon with all her might, but he sidestepped effortlessly, his counterstrike grazing her hair, severing a long, dark lock that fell to the ground.
Across the battlefield, Scarlett worked frantically to free the Demon Queen. Chains rattled as they broke, and the queen staggered to her feet, her demonic energy flaring to life.
The demon caught the movement out of the corner of his eye. His expression darkened as he turned to Scarlett. With a flick of his hand, black fire erupted, surging toward the child.
"No!" Demon Girl roared, her hands igniting with a massive blue flame. She hurled it at the demon with desperate precision.
The demon's reaction was instant—he deflected the flame with a swipe of his sword. Demon Girl clenched her teeth, then detonated the fire mid-air. The explosion shook the battlefield, sending shockwaves rippling through the air. Before the dust settled, Demon Girl darted forward, grabbing Scarlett, Kiki, and the queen.
Summoning her strength, she ripped open the Gates of Hell, their swirling vortex of energy casting an eerie glow over the ruined land. Without hesitation, she leapt through, dragging the others with her.
Behind them, the blue flames consumed the planet in a final, devastating blast. But when the flames died down, the demon stood unharmed, his form silhouetted against the destruction.
Inside the Gates, the air was thick with tension. Scarlett clung to her mother, sobbing softly. The Demon Queen knelt down, wrapping her arms around her daughter, her usually stern face softened by a rare display of warmth.
"That was close," Demon Girl muttered, her voice strained.
Kiki stood nearby, his expression unreadable. Demon Girl glanced at him and said, "Kiki, tell her."
The queen rose slowly, her sharp gaze fixed on him. "He doesn't have to," she said, her voice steady but heavy with meaning. "I already know."
Kiki blinked in surprise. "How?"
The queen's lips curved into a faint smirk. "I am the ruler of Hell. I know everything within its borders. And with my demonic energy focused in my eyes, I can see all of Hell and beyond."
Demon Girl hesitated. "So... you're not mad?"
The queen paused, her eyes flickering with a mixture of emotions. "I was. At first. But I've had time to think. Now? I'm not."
Before anyone could respond, the air grew cold. The sound of footsteps echoed, and the demon emerged from the swirling abyss, dragging behind him a strange, dark presence that pulsed with life. His sword glinted dangerously as he spoke, his tone filled with dark intent.
"We're not done here," he said, his eyes locked on the queen. "If you're heading to Hell, then so am I."
