Chapter 15: Magic Affinity
Focusing with my arms out I controlled my energy and started to move the energy in an attempt to lift the stone ball.
We all had our eyes closed, focused on lifting the ball a foot high.
The ball levitated until it stopped at exactly a foot above the ground but then the ball instantly dropped and hit the ground. we had once again failed.
We were able to lift the ball up to a foot with all our combined energies but we weren't able to keep it there so we constantly failed.
By now many of the other students who had been able to control their shadow demons to shoot the bow and arrow were now on the same thing we were on and were struggling like we had been.
Anastasia was the first to stand up, seeing her stand Floyd followed right after and Jillton did too, Krill also stood up and so did Clair and I.
With all of us ready once more we all closed our eyes poured our energy into the ball and then controlled it before we all simultaneously started to push the ball upward until it stopped one foot above the ground.
Straining my mind I focused harder than before and concentrated my energy even harder and further than before and tried to keep the ball a foot in the air.
The others also did the same, as we all strained our minds and focused as hard as we could on our energy until finally we dropped the ball, purposely.
The few seconds it felt like we had held the ball up was actually an entire 30 seconds which meant we had, finally, completed the energy control training Jesica, our teacher, had given us.
"Surprising...Follow me." Appearing out of God knows where was Jesica who told us to follow her away from the accursed stone ball and to whatever was next.
We had been walking for about a minute, but that had allowed me to stabilize myself from my mental exhaustion caused by the energy training.
"Right here." Jesica said.
A translucent ball stood atop a gray pedestal half the height of me.
"This next training will be short. Just place your hand on the ball and pour every last bit of your energy into the ball, that's it." Jesica said with her finger pointed at the ball.
"Anastasia you go first, Jillton you're next, then Clair, then Floyd, then Krill, and lastly Azriel." She had thought for only a second before saying.
Anastasia walked forward and put both her hands on the translucent ball before dumping all her energy into the ball.
The ball at first didn't react but only a second later did it start to shine a bright indigo color before it then shined a brighter white and lastly it shone red before it completely died down.
Taking a step away from the ball Anastasia looked at the teacher with a questioning look.
"What did that mean?" Anastasia asked.
"The indigo color means you have a lot of magic, the white color means you're potential in all elements of magic is high, and the red means your shadow demon is compatible with fire/heat." Jesica explained.
Waiting for not. Jillton put both hands on the ball and poured his energy into it.
First the ball shined an indigo color, then it shined the colors blue, yellow, and pink before it shined a white.
Jillton then asked the same question Anastasia did.
"Indigo- a lot of magic. Blue-water, Yellow-lightning, Pink-non elemental magic. White your shadow demon is compatible with all types of elemental magic." She said.
Clair walked up, with reluctance, but she still put both her hands on the ball causing it to glow a slightly lighter indigo blue, barely recognizable to the eye, then shine a green, blue, and gray before it died down before shining green blue and gray again, then it died out.
Clair looked at the teacher but before she could move her mouth Jesica answered.
"You have a high amount of magic only a little less than Anastasia and Jillton, you have an affinity with nature which was green, water which was blue, and weather ,a rarer one. Compile that with the fact that your shadow demon also has compatibility with your exact magic affinities." Jesica explained with slightly interested eyes.
Floyd was next so he walked forward placing both his hands on the translucent ball.
The ball shone indigo, then it shined purple, white, and black, before it then shined a bright purple until a white dot appeared on the purple ball then a black dot and then a giant smile spread across the ball as the white and black dots were revealed to be it's eyes.
Then a smile stayed there for around five seconds before the ball died down as well. Floyd turned to Jesica and asked what exactly that meant.
Jesica the explained that the indigo meant the same as it did for everyone else, a lot of magic, the purple meant lost magic, the white meant an affinity in all types of elemental magic, and the black meant an affinity in all types of non-elemental magic.
But the creepy jack-o'-lantern looking smiley face meant that Floyd possessed a Fatal Demon and one that had all the same affinities as he did. Meaning it had an affinity in quite literally every type of magic.
'That's broken.'
After that display Krill was up next as the ball shined an indigo, as expected, then a green, brown, and gray and lastly it glowed a white before a spiral appeared and the ball died out.
"A lot of magic, the green means nature magic affinity, brown means earth magic affinity, and gray means weather magic affinity. The white means your shadow demon has an affinity with all elemental magic and the spiral means you have a Hazard demon." Jesica said.
With my turn here I stepped up at touched the ball with both my hands.
The ball shined black and then cracked, the ball then shined purple and black before the crack multiplied and covered half the ball, lastly the ball shined a sky blue, black, and purple and then the ball's crack repaired itself before the ball shined with a singular human-shaped face made of blue mist-like particles that slowly faded away.
With a puzzled expression on my face I looked at the teacher and asked her what that meant.
"I don't exactly know what the first one meant but it most likely means you have a lot of magic similarly to the others. The purple meant lost magic affinity and the black meant non-elemental magic affinity. The last part meant your shadow demon has the same affinities as you and one more which is water, telling by it's sky blue color, and the human-shaped face probably means you also have a Fatal Demon like Floyd does." Jesica said.
'Probably. Telling by. She must not know what exactly it means then. What if I have some amazing beyond human power that will save the world.'
'Or maybe I shouldn't let my imagination run wild.'
"Anyways with that all done you six are done with me for the day. Head over to teacher Andrew who's back inside our homeroom class for your physical training and then you can all leave." Jesica walked away with her back to us and with her thumb pointed to the academy building.
