Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Herrscher of the Void

(A/N: I'm trying to write this chapter in first-person POV. Do you think it's better than my usual third-person POV? Let me know what you think.)

"Oi! You there, girl! Can you hear me?" I shouted loudly, trying to determine whether the original consciousness of the girl who resembled Sirin was still present in her body.

As a Honkai player, I knew all too well that the Herrschers of the Previous Era were completely different from those of the Present Era. In this era, Herrschers lost their original consciousness entirely upon transforming.

But what's the harm in trying? If it doesn't work, I lose nothing. And if it does, well, that would be the best outcome imaginable.

"..."

Unsurprisingly, as I had anticipated, the Herrscher didn't respond. She only stared at me coldly, her expression devoid of emotion. The sight made me feel a pang of pity. If only they retained their original will after becoming Herrschers, perhaps I could have saved her.

With no other choice, I steeled myself and decided to eliminate her.

Kicking off the ground, I launched myself toward the Herrscher at full speed. My hands gripped my sword tightly, and I swung it with all my strength, aiming directly at her.

DING!

"What?! What the heck is this!"

Before I could get any closer, my body—and my sword—suddenly collided with an unseen force just a few meters away from the Herrscher. It felt as though I had struck an invisible barrier surrounding her, shielding her from my attack.

I immediately remembered Sirin's abilities as the Herrscher of the Void—her mastery over spatial manipulation, which made it undeniable that she could also create a space barrier.

Realizing this, I frowned and took a step back. But before I could fully assess the situation, my instincts flared up sharply, warning me of imminent danger. Without even thinking, I instinctively activated Thought Acceleration.

[Notice. A projectile attack has been detected rapidly approaching. Please evade your current position immediately.]

Just as Great Sage warned, I saw it—a projectile heading straight for me. It was a sharp, deadly spear, and I recognized it instantly. It was the Spear of Void, the signature weapon of the Herrscher of the Void!

Thankfully, my body had been enhanced to superhuman levels like Captain America's. Without that upgrade, my natural instincts wouldn't have been strong enough to sense the danger.

The realization made me feel an immense sense of relief. The speed of that spear was unbelievable, far faster than anything I had encountered before—surpassing the speed of sound, even faster than a bullet!

I quickly dodged out of the way. As the world returned to normal speed, the spear shot forward like lightning and struck the building at the exact spot I had just left.

BOOM!

A massive hole appeared in the building, with large cracks spreading out from the impact point. I had no doubt that the structure would soon collapse.

That was incredibly dangerous! I thought, my breath caught in my throat. This might be the most perilous battle I've ever faced.

Before I could catch my breath, my instincts flared up again. I immediately realized, without needing to turn around, that the spear was now targeting me from behind.

Without hesitation, I leaped into the air with a high backflip. Sure enough, as my head tilted downward during the flip, I could see the spear hurtling straight toward the spot where I had been just moments ago.

BOOM!

This enemy is incredibly tricky, I thought, biting my lip. I can't hurt her or even get close because of the space barrier protecting her. All I can do is keep dodging her incredibly fast projectiles.

Clicking my tongue in frustration, I dashed forward, dodging every incoming attack while trying to break the barrier with brute force.

Of course, it was futile. No matter how hard I swung my sword or struck the barrier, it remained intact—solid and unyielding, without even a scratch to show for my efforts.

Seeing that all my attempts were useless, I finally turned to the reliable assistant by my side.

"Great Sage, can you do something about this?"

[Answer. A highly powerful attack capable of disrupting space and time is required to break the barrier. Alternatively, accessing a space-related ability could bypass or destroy the barrier.]

"Hmm… space and time powers, huh? I was already thinking the same thing, but unfortunately, none of the space-related abilities I know are accessible to me."

It was the same issue as when I tried accessing powers from overpowered characters before. Either I couldn't use them at all, or—more accurately—they were far too dangerous to use. It left me baffled, unsure of the criteria or conditions I needed to meet to access certain abilities.

I understood that my current weakness likely prevented me from using powers belonging to overpowered characters. But the space-related abilities I wanted to use? I didn't even consider them to be overpowered. Even the characters who wielded those powers weren't classified as OP.

This left me completely confused and utterly helpless. There were no other viable solutions to breaking the barrier apart from the two options Great Sage had provided. Unfortunately, neither of those options was currently possible for me to execute.

Suddenly, my eyes turned serious as I noticed the Herrscher of the Void finally move. She raised her hand and pressed her index and middle fingers together, mimicking the shape of a sword. Then, without warning, she swung her hand toward me as if trying to slash me in two.

My eyes widened in shock, and I ducked just as my instincts flared up once more. That reaction turned out to be the right decision, as I watched several buildings in the distance get sliced cleanly in half.

Swallowing hard, cold sweat dripping down my back, I muttered helplessly, "Oi! Oi! Are you serious?! Are you telling me the Herrscher of the Void can use Sukuna's cursed technique, Dismantle?!"

The situation grew even more tense for me. After all, the Herrscher before me was far more dangerous than I had anticipated. I remembered that Sirin, or the Herrscher of the Void in the game, only had abilities like opening portals, creating cubes to trap her enemies, and manipulating her spear into various forms for long-range projectile attacks.

But space tearing? Hell no! I couldn't recall Sirin ever having the ability to do something like that in the story. Was it because Sirin was too inexperienced to pull it off, or was it actually true that the authority and control of Herrschers from the Previous Era were more refined and advanced compared to those of the Present Era?

With her space-tearing ability, my assessment of the Herrscher of the Void's danger level skyrocketed. Unlike the attacks from her spear earlier, the strikes from her space-tearing power were almost instantaneous and had a much wider area of effect.

Realizing this, I decided to push the limits of Ittou Shura into overdrive. It would cause severe damage to my body, but with my immortal regeneration and the dire circumstances I faced, I didn't care.

And fortunately, the cheat I possessed was far stronger than before, as any ability I used consumed no energy whatsoever. This allowed me to wield my powers indefinitely—so long as I could endure the side effects.

"Ittou Shura!!!"

A massive surge of energy, far stronger than before, erupted from my body. Blood began to stream from my bloodshot eyes and nose, while veins across my entire body bulged and became visibly pronounced.

The excruciating pain tearing through me felt as though my entire body was being ripped apart. Just as I was about to lose consciousness, Great Sage swiftly intercepted the pain signals, allowing me to stay focused.

At the same time, my physical strength increased exponentially. Even without using Thought Acceleration, I could see the movement of everything around me as if it were in slow motion. The colors of the world drained away, leaving only shades of black and white in my vision.

"Prepare yourself for round two, Herrscher of the Void!!!" I shouted loudly, gripping my sword tightly and grinning with renewed determination.

Whether she understood my words or not, her eyes—devoid of humanity—seemed to grow even colder. I could feel the oppressive killing intent surrounding her intensify, far heavier than before.

Without hesitation, I launched forward at lightning speed, weaving in a zigzag pattern to dodge the unrelenting attacks coming from every direction.

In that moment, I had to focus completely, relying entirely on my instincts and reacting instantly to every threat. Any lapse in concentration could mean my head flying off the next second, considering how fast the attacks came at me.

Even as I dodged, I continued to strike the barrier relentlessly. Attack after attack landed, but to my disbelief, the barrier still held firm, even against my drastically enhanced power.

Minutes passed as I hammered the same spot over and over, yet the painful truth became clear: my expectations were shattered. No matter how many powerful blows I delivered, the barrier stood unyielding, showing no sign of breaking.

"Is my situation really this hopeless? Damn it! If only I could access a space-related power right now!"

I grumbled inwardly, biting my lip in frustration. I knew I couldn't afford to delay this fight any longer. The longer I waited to take down this Herrscher, the more lives would be lost.

"I have to finish this, no matter what!"

I continued my previous tactic, and ten minutes later, I could only watch in despair. Just like before, there were no signs of the barrier breaking, no matter how hard I tried.

Am I really incapable of doing anything?

As I sank into thoughts of sadness and defeat, my instincts suddenly picked up on something. It wasn't a threat directed at me, but I immediately turned toward it. With my enhanced vision, I saw a beautiful pink arrow enveloped in powerful Honkai energy flying straight toward the barrier.

BANG!

"The barrier... broke?!" I exclaimed in shock, unable to believe it. The barrier I had worked so hard to destroy shattered in an instant after being struck by that arrow.

Because of this, the Herrscher's attention, which had been solely focused on me, immediately shifted toward the newcomer who had fired the arrow. My own attention followed, driven by curiosity.

And there, I finally saw the one responsible. She had long, beautiful light pink hair tied in a ponytail, stunning blue eyes like gemstones with pink pupils matching her hair, a face so gorgeous it seemed like she had stepped out of a fantasy, and a curvaceous figure that could mesmerize any man. She was none other than...

"Elysia!" I shouted, my voice ringing out. Her attention turned to me, and she smiled warmly before waving in my direction. My heart skipped a beat instantly.

As expected of Elysia! The waifu beloved by countless Honkai Impact players! Her smile could capture the hearts of anyone who saw it!
