DxD: fallen angel of death

Chapter 2: Chapter 2 : Sacred Gear

Ryuhei stood firm in the dark space, his breathing steady, but his eyes gleamed with a strange sharpness. He had sensed something change within him when the light spear came at him for the second time. The first time, he had simply reacted instinctively, but this time, an odd clarity enveloped him. Everything around him seemed to slow down, as if time had stopped just before the spear touched him.

At that moment, Ryuhei felt a surge of intense power rising from deep within, an energy he didn't fully understand but felt incredibly familiar. It felt as though he had been through countless battles, countless moments of evasion and combat, but this time, everything was different. It wasn't the power of fear or confusion, but the power of confidence, leadership, and an unexplainable strength.

He stepped aside, his movement light yet precise. The light spear streaked past, missing its target, leaving a streak of light in the air. Ryuhei didn't feel any fatigue or tension. Instead, there was a calm rising within him, yet it carried an undeniable sense of determination.

The fallen angel across from him remained silent, watching with eyes full of astonishment and disbelief. She clenched her fists, and Ryuhei could sense the anger boiling within her. It was hard to believe that a human could evade such powerful attacks, especially when the opponent was a fallen angel, whose power far surpassed that of a human.

That moment of surprise lasted only an instant, and right after, the fallen angel raised her hand, summoning another light spear, but this time, it wasn't just a simple attack. The power within the spear carried intense focus and resolve. She was determined to make sure no one could escape her assault again.

Ryuhei felt the surge of power within him again, but this time, he didn't rush into action. Everything around him seemed to stop for a moment, and he quietly observed. The feeling was oddly familiar, as if he had been here before, in a moment of the past he couldn't quite remember.

Just as the light spear neared him, Ryuhei effortlessly dodged once again. It felt like he was playing a game of chess, and every move of the opponent was easy to predict. His eyes lit up, and within him, there was no fear or tension. No matter how powerful the fallen angel's attack, he knew he would avoid it.

But then, something made Ryuhei pause. A magic circle suddenly appeared, covering the space in front of him. The symbol of Gremory – a familiar image he couldn't forget – appeared at the center of the circle. Ryuhei stopped, uncertain of his opponent. He didn't know whether this person was a friend or foe, but given the current situation, there was no room for risk. He decided to retreat, taking a step back to observe.

The fallen angel immediately flew away upon seeing the symbol on the magic circle.

When the magic circle faded, a figure emerged from within. It was a girl with fiery red hair and sharp, determined eyes. It was Rias Gremory – one of the prominent figures at school, and Ryuhei immediately recognized her.

Rias' gaze wasn't that of an enemy, but curiosity, as if she was trying to understand something about him. She examined Ryuhei from head to toe, as though wanting to scrutinize every detail, from his attitude to his actions.

"Ryuhei Aiku… Who are you?" Rias spoke, her voice gentle but sharp. She recognized her classmate, someone who stood out with impressive academic and athletic achievements.

Ryuhei didn't answer immediately. He wasn't sure what to do in this situation. Her appearance only added to his confusion, with questions that had no answers. Friend or foe? Why was she here?

Rias noticed his silence and smiled slightly, easing the tension between them. "Don't worry," she said with a slight smile. "I'm not your enemy."

Ryuhei didn't respond, but his eyes remained cautious. Even so, he didn't feel threatened. There were still many unanswered questions in his mind, but now wasn't the time. He nodded slightly and looked toward Issei's corpse. "I'll leave. You'd better help your friend there." Then he turned and walked away. His mind was still filled with conflicting emotions, and he didn't want them to affect his actions.

Rias wanted to ask more about Ryuhei, but she decided to handle Issei first. She had many questions for her classmate, but she decided she would ask him later.

After Ryuhei left the park and returned home, the atmosphere in his room remained still. He felt exhausted and bitter. That feeling lingered in his mind every time he looked at the mirror in his bathroom. The reflection in the mirror wasn't an image he wanted to see at this moment.

Recalling what his mother had done for him, Ryuhei couldn't suppress the anger rising within him. His mother had protected him to her last breath, but then the fallen angel had taken her life when she tried to protect him from the grim fate he was unaware of. He couldn't forget those images, and he couldn't forget the price his mother had paid.

The painful memories surged strongly, causing him to reach his breaking point. He punched the mirror hard, and shards of glass scattered across the floor. But Ryuhei didn't feel pain. Pain had become part of his life. The anger, the hatred, it had all built up in him over the years. He bit his lip, blood starting to flow, but he didn't care. A bitter feeling, yet full of determination.

These memories weren't just the past; they were a part of his fate. His mother was killed, but he – he was the child of a fallen angel. This only made everything more painful, because not only did his mother suffer, but he himself carried blood he never wanted.

He looked into the mirror in his bathroom. The reflection revealed something he had never seen before. A strong figure, with four pairs of black wings spreading behind him. It was a symbol of power, but also a bitter reminder. He bit his lip, and blood poured out. The painful memories tore through his mind. The anger and helplessness made him lose control.

"Mother…" he whispered, his voice choking. "You won't have died in vain. I'll take revenge."

As the emotional explosion subsided, a cold, authoritative voice echoed deep within his mind.

"Have you finally remembered?" The voice was sharp but strangely familiar.

"Who are you?" Ryuhei couldn't hide his surprise as he asked.

"I am Ashborn," the voice replied, mysterious. "The soul sealed within your Sacred Gear."

Ryuhei was surprised, but his curiosity kept him from stopping there. "What's a Sacred Gear? And why you?"

Ashborn explained the Sacred Gears and their function, powerful objects that each contained a soul once part of a tremendously powerful force. And the Sacred Gear that Ryuhei possessed was Eclipse – a Sacred Gear imbued with the power of darkness and death.

"The power of Eclipse is in your hands," Ashborn said, his voice lowering. "You have become the King of the Death of this generation. This power now belongs to you."

Ryuhei looked down at his hand, and immediately, a strange feeling rose within him. A black spear combined with a black flag appeared in his hand. The coldness from the object made him feel its mystery. This was the power he would have to learn to control.

"You will have the ability to summon an army of darkness, and the power of darkness will be your weapon," Ashborn continued. "Eclipse will be the tool for your revenge. And no one can stop you now."

A firm declaration rang in Ryuhei's heart. He was no longer weak. He was ready to face the world, to face those who had harmed his mother. And now, with Eclipse in his hands, nothing could stop him.
