DxD: Lost in Time

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: A Shattered Heart

It has been two years since that event, my training never eased. No, it has gotten much more difficult.

I trained on one of the mountains on the outskirts of the village. The trees were dense and I had to deal with a few wild animals a year ago.

I was breathing steadily, with each breath the blue aura around me grew steadily. You see, I was using the concept of Ki Breathing and Ki Balance.

Ki Breathing involves using your breaths to circulate Ki through the body.

By absorbing Ki from each inhale, circulating it through the body and exhaling the tainted Ki, my meridians are clensed.

Additionally, this is how the body refining stage works after the first three ranks are cleared through physical training.

I could do 500 push ups at that time. Anything above that is not even optional.

Everything worth doing is worth overdoing they say. Try training that way and you will meet your maker sooner than you both expected.

Not even sure who that is myself but if this is DxD, which I hope it is then maybe Big G. My timeline is fucked up so....

Ki Balance involves harmony between oneself and their environment. In essence, they are in sync.

The challenging part is finding that synergy. You need to be in a state of calmness to harmonize with the world and use it to increase you Ki.

It can be an easy matter if I had Spiritual Energy. I think Souls are more sensitive towards these things.

I had unlocked my Ki so I had to recreate some techniques I had seen in Dragon Ball. This task is hard but with a bit of time, it could be achieved.

Not to mention, after attuning my Ki to the element of Air I have been trying to recreate one of the most well known jutsu.

"RASENGAN!!!" I shouted at the top of my lungs like how kids my age would. That familiar yet unfamiliar child like enthusiasm. *Sigh*

Air was seemingly drawn to the palm of my hand before a blue ball of energy sprang to life.

It's size increased to that of small rubber ball. The highly compressed, dense sphere of energy spiralled as it glowed gently in my right hand.

I thrust my palm into a tree were it was drilled by the force behind the sphere of dense energy, causing splinters to shoot out from the tree like projectiles.

As I stared at the aftermath of this new technique my mouth arced up before he laughed to himself.

"Hahaha... Hahahahha!! I finally achieved it!" I exclaimed in joy that was shared by my three friends each with their own reactions.

"Woah!! That was some cool trick right there. Will you teach me some day!?" A young boy with who was small for his age said with stars in his bright blue eyes.

His hair spiked in every direction. His eyes stared intensely at a certain tree not far away from my position.

This was Kaito. The son a once successful merchant, but due to the raids the merchant has been struggling all together along with his loving and caring wife.

There was also a young girl of about 9 years old, the only girl in this group, was staring intently at his right hand.

She was petite but definitely showing signs of growth. She had long curly brown hair that slightly reached past her neck.

Her bright emarald eyes shining in delight, akin to the forest's flora.

This was Asami. She lost both her parents 5 years ago, the same time I lost my father to those fucking devils.

They are not even the least of my problems since I don't know this world but I noticed a few magic circles from an anime. I recognised it in an instant that it was DxD.

Just hundreds of years before canon considering my outfit.

"Why do you call it the Rasengan?" Asami asked with that cute expression on her face. I swear I am not a lolicon.

"Hey, are you Ignoring me?" Kaito asked me calmly, but one could see the slightest twitch in the eyes with each passing moment.

"Kinda." I answered him seriously. I was totally lying though.

'I ignored him on purpose.' Those were my true thoughts.

"Ack!!" Ookay. I don't know if he heard that muttering in my head or not. Are you a woman or somethin'?! Bruh!! He read my mind!!

"You can't learn it now, you should at least be at the Qi Condensation Realm" I added cheekily and watched her elation deflate like a baloon.

"What are these realms you speak of?" Shinji asked curiously, of course he was the first to ask. The kid is kinda like me.

A child who was older than the rest of us who were peers. Tall for his age but overall a really nice guy. A messy blue pompadour with of purple eyes.

He is the son of the village head, a well respected figure in this family, known for his kindness.

A devastating loss we experienced during the devil's attack, he lost a family member as well.

"Before I explain you must know that you need to train to have both Ki and Awareness.

Physical exercise and meditation helps greatly to increase these two factors. You can't use what you can't see right? Or in this case, you only use what you can sense.

Realms are a level that a cultivator has according to their power and cultivation. Each realm is divided into nine minor realms, of course.

Also known as ranks. It is not a well known system sadly since I came up with it." I can't believe I just shamelessly said that but it is true. I don't think this world is a Xianxia type so you could say it's my idea.

"You must know that the supernatural world is dangerous." I warned them to which they all nodded.

"Supernatural world? Is that what you got yourself into?" A melodious voice with a hint of bitterness said from behind them.

They all froze along with my smile at that very moment. Their face turned pale as their eyes widened at the same time.

"NAANIII!?" I screamed at the top of his lungs before I also joined the others. I tried to find the source of that dreadful voice. Just like I expected.

A young woman in her late twenties was standing right behind us. She had red eyes just like mine. I wanted to shrink myself down due to her gaze but I didn't do so.

She had purple hair that reached her waist and a scoul on her beautiful face. She wore a matching kimono tied in an orange Obi that hugged her figure.

She's the one who granted me this life, Natsumi Itō.

"So, you are a wizard.... And you never thought of telling your mother?" She asked with a dark expression on her face. Literally!!

"I wanted to tell you about it, but I thought you would overreact. I was gonna tell you soon though." I assured her as got closer her.

"So you can't even trust me?!" She asked with a pained expression. My gaze lingered around aimlessly, guilt weighing heavily on me. I couldn't even look her in eyes right now.

"You know it's not like that mother." I whispered in shame for no apparent reason.

"Then what is it Hisashi?! What makes untrustworthy?" She voiced out that question. I could not answer.

I always thought that she would overreact when she found out I had powers but it seems she's more hurt.

The fear is there. I can definitely see that, but it was overwhelmed by grief and pain.

"I am sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you." I said, hanging my head low. The three moved away from the conversation.

Kaito was surprisingly the first to do so. The guy is usually clueless in almost any situation.

She sighed heavily. After gathering enough courage to look her in the eyes I noted they were rather cold. Not to mention that deadpan of hers was unnerving.

"Hisashi. Listen and listen carefully. Stop these practices.. At Once!!" She stressed that last part.

"I won't have it! I need to get stronger so I can survive in this world. Don't you understand?

I can protect both of us this way!!" I answered immidiately. I stood my ground stubbornly.

"Hisashi, I am trying to protect you from your eventual downfall. Please stop this and reconsider."

"No!! As much as you want to keep me safe, I want to do so as well!"

"Then you can't be my son anymore if you walk down this path." Seeing that her soon would not be swayed she gave up. I opened my eyes wide.

I couldn't believe my ears.

She didn't say what I think she just said right?!

'Is she... Disowning me!?' I was slightly shaking at her words. All that determination from earlier was fleeting, like the adrenaline I had from a a year ago.

The leaves rustling in response to my shock. My fear finally kicking in for the first time since that fateful day I almost lost my second life. I reluctantly stammered.

"Aren't you making a mountain out of a molehill?" I questioned trying to stop her from such drastic measures.

"No. Choose Hisashi. Me or that power?" She answered swiftly while noticing my facial expressions.

"I won't change my mind. You should know it by now." I looked up at her disobediantly which made her frown greatly.

"There is nothing else to be said." She turned around to leave the area while I slowly thought about my options.

I felt as if someone was clenching my heart in their hand. A sharp but silent pain struck meas if I had a knife rammed through my chest. It was getting harder to breathe.

'Is this a good decision?' I thought as I fell back to the ground in exhaustion. I watched as she lived the sea of trees we were in. Going down the mountain I assume.

I just sat back down to process what has happened.

"Hisashi. I am sorry." Asami said as she comforted me, seeing that everything had ended.

"Yeah, we never thought that would happen. We should have told her..." Kaito also pitched in as he was deeply sorry for his friend.

"It's not your fault. I stopped you myself. It was my own stupidity. I was too naive." I said as I got up set my eyes at the floor yet again.

With a bright smile I looked at them but they were not convinced due to the current situation.

"You have to go and talk to your mother about this." Asami said worriedly, she felt bad for him since he just lost his mother. He was forsaken, just like her.

"Asami is right. You have to fix this. We will come and help you out..." Kaito added to her statement before Hisashi raised hands, telling him to stop.

"That's not necessary. I brought this upon myself. Now I have to face the consequences... On my own." I replied as I got up and left the forest.

Where I grew in power, as a person and finally lost my mother.

The smile was fading by the second. The pain was a constant reminder of the the fact that I was hurting.

The same smile I used to fool so many people in my past life, pulled through at times like these. Especially my girlfriend.

She came to notice that even though I was smiling and determined on the outside, I was crying on the inside. It only took a month, a world record in my eyes.

"Thanks for your concern anyway. See you tomorrow." With those parting words I left with a heavy heart, sinking into my own despair.

They watched as Hisashi walked away from his usual training spot. They looked at each other before Shinji announced with a grim expression.

"Let's go home guys."

Hisashi's House~

The same woman, wearing a purple kimono tied with an orange obi sat as she released a single tear from one of her eyes.

Angrily dicing some potatoes inside a beautiful kitchen with a warm interior.

She had purple hair and red eyes. One would recognise her as Hisashi's mother.

"That is not what I wanted to hear." She said in a grave and depressing tone to no one in particular.
