Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Are All Women So Complex?
I gazed at the full moon casting it's radience to the world. I stood still in silent contemplation base of the mountain.
The wind howled, carrying the leaves along with it's pace.
'That was random and unexpected to say the least.' A side of her I did not know until now. I was actually wondering if I knew her as well as I thought I did.
With each step I took I was becoming less uncertain about the situation and gaining clarity. She was overreacting and I hate that
.
You don't blow things out of proportion. I couldn't even say shit, I don't know how you resolve drama.
But if you think about it, if this was the 21st centuary, she would have shrugged it off or at least a bit fearful. They would have been too curious anyway.
Considering I am at least a 100 years before canon, anyone who sees my Ki techniques would raise a pitch fork no questions asked. I am suprised she didn't run on the spot. There must be something else going on.
"Fuck logic for a moment. I am gonna give her a piece of my mind." My eyes glowed red for a moment before they toned down.
"What am I saying. I should just talk to her, 'Nicely'." I said 'nicely' while rolling my eyes, with a mocking tone. No way in hell this was gonna be nice.
*Sigh* I miss breaking bones already than having to deal with this crap.
Natsumi's POV~
"That is not what I wanted at all. Me and my big mouth." She was displeased with what she had done tonight.
He was a child and he was no exception either. I thought that he would immediately listen since he was obedient.
He was so DAMN stubborn but I recalled every hurtful word I said to my son. It was for his own good but that was wrong.
"I think I went too far. I need to apologize, fingers crossed. Or was it Heart. I never understood his wordplay." She said with a fleeting smile. The guilt deeply rooted in her heart.
"I hope he forgives me." I heard someone slide door open and I immidiately turned around to see who it was. It was Hisashi but there was something different about him.
He was 9 years old but one would mistake him for a 14 year old. He was wearing a red short sleeved haori with black loose fitting pants and a white sash.
I wanted to apologize that instant but I noticed his eyes glow slightly at that moment. His golden hair fluttering with the wind.
'I deserve what's coming don't I.' I thought before he uttered a simple question.
"I am back. I also have a few questions if you don't mind. Did those people who killed my father all those years ago use magic. Yes or No?" Why would he bring this up? What is his point?
I knew one thing. He definitely won't be taking silence as an answer.
"They did bu-" I was cut short at that instant. He wasn't in the mood to listen to me at all. He is
usually cruel in this state. His voice oozing with sarcasm, his expression was stoic.
Nothing to be worried about.
"Okay then why do you think that we can deal with them without it?" He asked yet another
question, not even addressing the fact that he was being rude. The nerve of this child.
"Why can't it be someone else? Wait, why am I having this conversation with y-"
"If I don't do it then who will? The people who saved us is what you are thinking right? Hahaha...
They used magic as well. Do you recall?" I was shocked at that truth. I was not exactly there when the heroes of this land arrived.
"I-"
"You do realise that they won't always be there don't you. We can't always pray and cross our
hearts with a glimmer of hope that will be inevertedly wasted." I just kept silent at his word.
My response to this..... Nothing, I don't know what to say. I feel like a child being scolded.
'I see. He wants me to feel the same thing he did on that mountain when I caught him soing magic.'
A realisation came to me at that moment, finally understanding my son's intentions for the first
time.
"Last question. Is disowning a child something a mother does HUH!? What excuse do you have?!" He raised his voice against me. To say I was bewildered was an understatement.
That's a side of him I don't want to see.
"I-I don't have an excuse. Not even one. That was stupid and impulsive of me, please forgive me." I
couldn't even bring myself to lie.. I gazed at his eyes after noticing how uncomfortable it became.
I then noticed something that gave me the shock of my life.
He had a genuine scowl on his face. His irises grew brighter, his sclera taking on a black shade.
He turned to leave with a grunt, but no matter how suffocating it was, I can't let him go just like that. I would not sleep if I did.
"B-But... I have a reason..." It's getting harder to breathe with each passing second. I saw those rage filled eyes which gave me a sense of fear.
"I know what magic does Hisashi... I could never forget..." I looked up at him trying to hold back my
tears.
"After all, you aren't the first person to ever use magic in my life..... She was once everything
to me."
He faced me at that moment, he clutched head while whispering something under his breath.
Something about wanting leave and what the hell was wrong with him. I couldn't hear anything else
besides that.
"My sister, and your aunt. She used to practice magic as well. I would always ask her to teach me but she would refuse just as much.
She always said I wasn't ready to learn yet and I couldn't help but complained." I smiled bitterly as I
noticed his face regain some colour.
He became less furious and one of his sclera returned to it's original white.
"I was happy nonetheless, with her in my life I felt safe. She was my sister, my mother and father. I lost all of it on that very day day."
"Flashback"
"Onee-san, where are we going today? You said you would finally teach me magic." A young toddler, noticably a female said to the other who accompanied her.
She looked like Natsumi but quite short, petite and had baby fat. Purple shoulder length hair and red eyes. She wore a blue kimono that was tied with a pink obi.
This was indeed Hisashi's mother, albeit
7-8 years old.
"I will, just give it time Natsumi." A beatiful girl very similar to the one who was holding her hands said with a smile.
She had purple hair but the only difference was that her eyes were green. She was 15 years old and had a vuloptous figure.
She wore a pink hakama with a black obi and a skirt that reached just above her knees. She tied her purple hair in a bun revealing her pale white neck.
Her smile faded quickly, her body grew tense for a moment and she looked up at the sky with worry.
"Onee-san, what is the matter." Natsumi asked her elder sister. Her smile from earlier also faded
replaced with restlessness.
She slowed down to check on her sister who just placed a hand on her shoulder.
"I think there is a storm coming. You should go home, I will be right there." She said calmly as she
smiled brightly.
For a child it was rather convincing but one would notice how forced it was if they were older.
"Go now. Shoo." She said with a playful attitude but Natsumi did not buy it. She was hesistant but
she finally started walking.
Something told her that she would loose something today.
"Where do you think you are going little brat!?" A tall man with black hair and unkept beard said as
he floated in the air with what she thought was.... bat wings.
She froze on the spot, unable to move
a step.
"The host of the Vanishing White Dragon Emperor, Lila correct." The devil said as he adopted a bone chilling smile.
Lila just stood there and smiled at the man.
"What do you want?" Her tone was was unexpectedly cold.
"Simple. Since you are a pain in the ass to us devils and the host of Albion, I wanted to kill you
myself." At that moment, mechanical wings appeared from her back.
The wings were a mix of glowing blue petagonal crystals supported by white metal protruding from her back.
"Natsumi!! Run!!" She shouted at the top of her lungs before she disappeared in a flash of blue.
She clashed with the devil continuosly and landed the first strike to the abdomen. The devil spat blood out before he received a heel drop on the head.
"Even if the brat runs to her atmost capabilities, she wouldn't survive anyway." The devil said while
wiping the blood from his face.
A magic circle lit up before a silver haired devil appeared.
"I see you are having trouble with the bitch hosting the white lizard." He said with a smug on his face, not even concerned that his foul mouth had angered the dragon with.
"She is strong so don't underestimate her." The black haired devil said maliciously.
"I plan to make her scream my name soon so don't worry. I won't let her escape." The silver haired devil said with a lacherous grin.
"You devils are annoying you know that? That's won't even happen... I'll take BOTH OF YOU WITH
ME IF I HAVE TO!!"
She charged at them with multiple magic circles floating around before
unleashing lightning and fire magic that engulfed them both.
"Let's go wild Albion!!" Lila shouted her battle cry and engaged the two.
Natsumi had already left at that moment. She ran endlessly without stopping until she started
slowing down.
'Onee-san is in danger. I have to help her. But she would be mad. That's not important!!' She
changed course when she organised her thoughts
[Vanishing Dragon... Balance Breaker!!!]
She did not pay attention to that voice but charged straight ahead. Just then two more devils
appeared.
"What do we have here, a little girl that wants to play hero."
"Hehehe. Idiotic this one is. Get her." They pounced at her. She closed her hoping just waiting for the pain, but it did not come.
A magic circle lit up one her neck before a force field was release, trapping them inside.
They became much slower before two more magic circles lit up under their feet and a blast
enveloped them.
She didn't care much about what happened to them.
She made it to the battlefield where she found the men from before lying on the ground with claw
marks on their throats.
She wanted to hurl but now was not the time.
"Onee-san!!" She ran towards her elder sister who was also on the ground. She had a stomach
wound but she was smiling towards her.
"You are an idiot, you know that?" She laughed a bit before the pain got to her, reminding her that
she was about to meet her end
"I didn't want to leave you here all alone with those bad men."
"That's sweet Natsumi. And thank you" said as she caressed her sister's hair. "For being a good girl and the best little sister in the world." She smiled brightly but is only caused Natsumi to to tear up even more.
"Hey, I am still here, smile a little" She ficked her younger sister's head. Natsumi would have been
annoyed but she wiped her tears away before forcing a smile.
"That's my little sister." She closed her eyes and with one final exhale, she stopped moving. She tried to wake her up, a futile attempt but what could she do.
"End"
"She died with a smile on her face. Magic took her away from me. I had no parents, I lost my sister
and now my husband. I can't loose you too."
Hisashi's POV~
Okay... Why are women so complex? They are like a piece of puzzle I can't solve. What's worse? I
haven't uncovered that mystery in both lives!! And what is this?
"Are you crying!?" I was sweat dropping at this point. Where is that cold demeanor from before? I
hope not all women are like this.
"Why wouldn't I cry. I am a terrible mother. I can't even talk to my son like how a normal mother
should. I am so impulsive it's shameful. I can't even look you in the eyes anymore."
"Ehhhhhh!" What the hell kind of drama is this? I need help. I just did the only thing I could and
hugged her closer and gently pat her back.
"I am sorry as well. You should have told me."
"Sorry." She apologized while sobbing on my shoulder.
I feel so... Awkward. Fuck man, I think I went far. [A/N: You think?! Well I think it runs in the family!!]
"Open and honest communication is key to any relationship. You don't keep secrets like."
"I am sorry. I was afraid." And she did it yet again.
I smiled for a moment as I for the first time, see her fragile appearance.
Now I not only have to protect her but myslef it seems. She has to do a lot more than cry for me to completely forgive her though
"It's okay. Listen, I have to leave for a few days so I can rewind a bit. I have to get a sword, but I
should be home soon.
I forgive you but you still have to reflect on your actions and I will reflect on mine. Sounds good."
"Just come back safe." She smiled yet again, I tried to escape her embrace but there was too much resistance.
'Okay, now I am sure she is paranoid.... Or did I break her? Me and my big mouth.' I did everything I could without forcing my way out to no avail.
"Kaa-san, can I leave now?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, with the same facade of a smile from
before she opened her eyes.
Her red eyed locked into mine.
"Sure..." She is saying that but she wasn't letting go. No, in fact she hugged me tighter.
"KAA-SAN!!"
"Okay Okay, you don't need to scream like that." She let go of me with shaking hands.
"I am just going on a stroll so you don't need to worry. I'll even bring you a souvenir." That's not a
redflag is it?
"You mean a gift right?" She asked unsure if she undrestood the meaning.
"That is exactly what I meant." I gave her a wry smile at her question. I keep for getting this is not
the 21st Centuary. Must be the 17th or 18th Centuary.
'Alas, I need to find some devils to 'play' with for a while. I can't vent my anger on her so they had to
be the unfortunate ones.' I mean hey, who told them they should be born as devils?
I chose staying human. I don't exactly remember...
But then again it wasn't their choice, but who told them to wipe out my family.
If what mom heard was right then Aunt Lila was the host of the White Dragon Emperor. I would have gotten the perfect teacher upon rebirth.
For that, I will become stronger and kill the entire Old Satan Faction. As for Grayfia. That's not for
the current me to decide but I have my eyes on her.
Getting rid of such thoughts I picked up the sword in my hand and packed a few things for the road.
My mother was watching me anxiously.
"And one last thing. Stay safe...." I left as I faced away from her so I could leave. "And Trust No One."
