Chapter 13 She is not as good as a dog 3
The maid didn’t expect Yemo to be so easy to talk to. She was a little stunned for a moment. By the time she regained her senses, Yemo had already taken Yilin and Yiluo away.
When they arrived at the front hall, Yemo saw all the wives of the General’s Mansion present, except for the young master Ye Yang. The other ladies and young masters were all there.
The youngest among them was the sixth young master of the General’s Mansion, three-year-old Ye Feng, followed by the fourth young lady, eleven-year-old Ye Yu, the third young master, twelve-year-old Ye Tian, and the second young lady, thirteen-year-old Ye Yan.
The second lady, the third lady, and the fourth lady were also present.
It appeared to be a family banquet.
Yemo walked up to the table and sat down, with Yilin and Yiluo standing behind her.
Ye Zheng looked at Yemo and frowned, a bit displeased. “Why did you bring the maid with you to dinner?”
“Because it’s safer,” Yemo replied, glancing at Ye Zheng with a sarcastic smile. “I was halfway back here, and if I happened to encounter someone who wanted to harm me, I thought it would be safer to have dinner than to travel halfway.”
The second lady, who was sitting nearby, looked uncomfortable after being ridiculed like this. She had already been scolded by Ye Zheng earlier in the day, with him saying that she nearly ruined his plans.
As for what happened during the day, several other ladies had heard about it. Now, with Yemo’s remark, they all looked at the second lady knowingly.
While people outside the mansion thought that Ye Zheng was a sentimental man who still mourned his deceased wife, those within the mansion held a different view. They knew that Ye Zheng was likely using Yemo for something, and his motives weren’t driven by nostalgia.
The second lady took a deep breath, smiled at Yemo, and said, “Mo’er, you must be seven years old this year, yet your physique still seems so delicate. Coincidentally, the kitchen has prepared some nourishing chicken soup. Would you like to have some?”
“Sure,” Ye Mo replied with a smile, tapping her fingers rhythmically on the table.
She decided to drink the chicken soup and see what was in it.
Nanny Liu quickly brought the chicken soup over and placed it in front of Ye Mo. She said, “Miss Fifth, this is the chicken soup I personally prepared. It’s very nourishing.”
Ye Mo sniffed the chicken soup and smiled, saying, “It smells delicious. Did Aunt Liu cook it all by herself?”
Ye Mo lowered her head, concealing the cold glint in her eyes when she asked this question.
“Yes,” Aunt Liu replied, unaware of any ulterior motives. “I was worried it might get spoiled halfway, so I guarded it myself and didn’t let anyone else touch it. There are some special ingredients in this soup, and I didn’t want any other maids accidentally giving it to the lady or the young master and miss. That could have caused trouble.”
She wasn’t concerned that Yemo would discover anything because the second lady had claimed that even a genius doctor couldn’t detect the poison in the soup, which was colorless and odorless.
“Mama Liu, you’ve put so much effort into making this chicken soup for me. I feel a bit embarrassed. How about I give this bowl of chicken soup to you, Mama Liu?” Ye Mo turned her head, her face feigning innocence but concealing a sinister undertone in her words.
