Empire of the Unseen

Chapter 10: The Power Shift”

The Power Shift"

Internal Conflict: New Challengers

The Yakuza office buzzed with activity. Hajime stood at the center, discussing strategy with Renji and Crow, when the door slammed open. Two men, younger recruits, barged in—Riku and Tatsu. Both were known for their arrogance and lack of discipline.

Riku smirked. "So, this is the genius everyone's talking about? Hajime, the strategist?"

Tatsu chuckled, leaning against the doorframe. "You got lucky with that last mission. Don't let it go to your head, rookie."

Renji's eyes narrowed, his hand twitching toward his knife, but Hajime raised a hand to stop him. "Relax. Let the children speak."

Riku's face twisted in anger. "You think you're better than us? Prove it."

Hajime's calm demeanor shifted. He stepped forward, his presence suffocating. "Prove it? Fine. Let's step outside."

The Lesson

The courtyard was silent as the Yakuza gathered to watch the showdown. Hajime faced Riku and Tatsu, his hands casually in his pockets.

Riku charged first, his fists glowing with energy. Hajime sidestepped effortlessly, tripping him with a calculated sweep. Tatsu followed, his blade slashing through the air.

Time slowed. Hajime ducked, weaving through Tatsu's strikes with precision. He grabbed the blade mid-swing, twisting it out of Tatsu's grip before delivering a brutal punch to his stomach.

Riku staggered to his feet, but Hajime was already behind him. A single, well-placed strike to the back of his neck sent him sprawling.

The crowd murmured as Hajime stood over the two, his voice cold. "You wanted proof? Here it is. Next time you challenge me, make sure you're ready to bleed."

The Two-Week Time Skip

The Yakuza's perception of Hajime shifted dramatically over the next two weeks. He became a figure of both fear and respect, his ruthless efficiency earning him favor with the Oyabun.

In secret, Hajime trained relentlessly, sharpening his abilities and refining his strategies. The shadows of his ambition grew darker.

When he returned to the Yakuza office, he was a different man. His posture radiated authority, and his gaze was sharp enough to cut steel.

Promotion and New Plans

The Oyabun called a meeting, his voice commanding the room. "Hajime, your actions have proven your worth. From this day forward, you're no longer a beginner. You are now a Wakagashira—a lieutenant."

The room erupted in applause, but Hajime's mind was elsewhere. His plans were already in motion.

The Betrayal

Later that night, Hajime met Renji and Crow in a private room. The air was heavy with unspoken tension.

"I want to share something with you both," Hajime began, his tone calm but laced with menace. "The Yakuza is changing. The Oyabun is holding us back. It's time for a new leader."

Renji stiffened. "You're talking about betrayal."

Hajime smirked. "I'm talking about evolution. Renji, I want you by my side. You've been loyal, and I trust your strength."

Crow tilted his head. "And me?"

Hajime's smirk vanished, replaced by a cold glare. "You're a liability. You question me too often. That ends tonight."

Before Crow could react, Hajime's power activated. Time slowed as he closed the distance, his blade flashing. A single strike ended Crow's life, his body crumpling to the floor.

Renji stared, torn between shock and fear. "You… You killed him."

Hajime wiped the blood from his blade. "He was in the way. You're either with me, Renji, or you're next."

Renji hesitated, then nodded slowly. "I'm with you."

Hajime's smirk returned. "Good. Now, let's take what's ours."
