Chapter 134: End of the Auction
The four other people in the room with Kayn were planted on the floor in a corner of the room, shuddering in fear at the sight in front of them.
Kayn was just standing there still, but all around him black flames and lightning were revolving and shooting out, causing pieces of furniture and floor to vanish into nothing when they were touched. But then a voice rang out from somewhere on his person.
"KAYN! STOP IT NOW!"
Charlotte's voice brought Kayn's mind back to the forefront, and he quickly calmed himself down and grabbed the distress crystal that he had strapped around his neck.
"Charlotte…it…they are selling my father's core! I can't stay calm! What do I do?" His voice stuttered, but every word spoken was laced with malice and killing intent.
Kayn then heard Charlotte sighing from the other side, "Buy it Kayn. Just remember everything will be solved after this, so just buy it and try to play off what just happened okay?
"I only know who caused what happened because I can feel it where I am and I know your aura. The tyrannical aura of a dragon that is angry is quite hard to miss, but luckily, they shouldn't know it's you. Just buy it and get out with the prisoners, got it?" Charlotte sternly replied.
Kayn was still struggling to maintain his control and calm himself down, but he was able to retract his aura. Only then did he look at his surroundings.
The four people in his room had all passed out in a puddle of their own urine, several of the attendees in the regular buyer section were also unconscious, only those with a stronger core were able to withstand the pressure that was placed upon them.
Denji then struggled to his feet, he was a 2nd stage mage, but even he felt that he was on the verge of passing out. "Folks, please wait a moment while we investigate this incident."
Several guards then appeared on stage to protect the item that was rolled out as well as to update Denji about the results of the investigation in real time. Guards could be seen running around the auditorium and even the VIP rooms were barged into.
Kayn looked around his room in a hurry trying to think of a way he could cover up the destruction he caused inadvertently. Not coming up with anything good, he decided to exit into the hallway before they could enter inside.
"Are you okay, sir? Why are you out of your room?" The lead guard questioned.
"I am fine. The room just smells a little because my slaves pissed themselves. I'm waiting out here until you all release your servants so someone can clean up the place. I'd like to kill the bastard who released that aura myself if you find him." Kayn replied with anger laced words, and the anger was indeed real.
"Please return inside your room Sir, we can't have our guests roaming freely right now. Once we conclude our search and ensure the safety of the area, the auction will resume. Rest assured, I will also call for a servant to clean your room in a few moments."
Kayn reluctantly went back inside his room, ensuring that he didn't open the door wide enough for them to see inside. He then went to check on the four who were crumpled in a pile in the corner. None of them had sustained actual injuries and were just overwhelmed by the killing intent and draconic aura.
Kayn sighed in relief before cleaning up each and every one of them with magic before carrying them to either the bed or couch and laying them down to rest.
Kayn watched as several unconscious people were carried out of the auditorium and it quickly began to look quite empty. Kayn probed the VIP rooms even with the risk of being exposed and discovered that most of them were fine and resting in their chairs or even back to their lascivious actions with slaves that were out cold.
This only served to further worsen Kayn's condition, so he stopped and closed his eyes. He began revolving the Void Star technique and taking deep breaths, slowly taking back control.
He hadn't had a bad incident with Wrath since he watched his mother die. Just days ago, he was excited about his progress but it seemed he still had a long way to go, even if he was able to gain control quickly again.
About an hour later, Denji reappeared on the stage with a box next to him, the same box that contained Ezekiel's core and had preserved it from breaking down after his death.
This clearly indicated that his core was harvested soon after his death and the group that killed him had preparations already made to conserve his core. Normally a mana core would collapse within 24 hours of death.
"I apologize for the delay everyone. It appears that this was not an incident which only we experienced as it was spread out in a wide area. Our security team has come to the conclusion that there is no threat to us and it most likely was just an unfortunate coincidence that it occurred in our area.
"I know that we have lost a few of our potential buyers, but we will move on with the auction none the less. As I was saying before, our last item is the 5th stage mana core of Ezekiel Vestarius, the Harbinger of Lightning and a general of the Carnet Empire.
"Upon examination, the core contains an aptitude for the light, fire, and wind elements with a high affinity to fire. Obviously, the lightning element would be a deviant element he used through the combination of elements.
"The bidding starts at 1000 platinum coins."
For the next few minutes, bids came in one after the other form the VIP rooms and even some of the people in the lower stands were bidding for the core. The price rose to 2800 platinum very quickly.
Kayn was given 5 emerald coins in total by Charlotte, though she never actually expected he would use them in a random black-market auction. Even at a high-end auction in a real auction house, emerald coins were very rarely used as items that were worth spending that kind of money on almost never appeared in an auction and were sold in private.
With determined eyes, Kayn placed his bid.
"Three emerald coins from a VIP!" Denji yelled out, but he couldn't make last calls just yet as more bids were pouring in.
"3300 platinum coins!"
"3550 platinum!"
"3800 platinum!"
"Three emerald 900 platinum!"
With the last bid, the bidding paused for a short time. With the exchange rate and rarity of emerald coins taken into account, that was about a 4000 platinum bid, but it wasn't Kayn's bid, so he put in another of his own.
"We have four emerald coins now!"
"Going once!"
"Going twice!"
"We now have a bid for four emerald coins and 100 platinum!!"
Kayn honestly couldn't believe how much these people were willing to shell out for a single mana core. He had never honestly studied the uses for mana cores though. If they could be used as a rune beast's stone core would, then he could understand.
On a rare chance and with the proper element aptitudes, they might be able to gain enough insight through absorbing it to use the lightning element. Or maybe they wanted to use it to craft a powerful artifact.
No matter what it was, Kayn would never let them have it. Though he was now out of emerald coins to bid and would have to rely on using purely platinum.
"Going once!"
"A new bid for four emerald coins and 250 platinum!" Denji couldn't help but become overly excited.
He was told they purchased the ring and core for three emerald and 500 platinum as they assumed all the risk with trying to sell the ring, but he had already earned over a 750 platinum profit! He was definitely going to be able to retire with his commissions! Denji thanked his lucky stars for delivering him the VIP in room 13.
"Going once!"
"Twice"
"Sold! For four emerald and 250 platinum to VIP room 13!"
Kayn clenched his fist after he won his father's core. No one would be able to use it to gain something they never should have had in the first place. He was clenching his fists now though since Denji once again announced that it was his room that won.
With Maneet knowing his general clothing appearance and probably spreading it around already, Denji was repeatedly increasing the size of the target on his back. However, Kayn wasn't upset about this, rather he was glad. He would be more than happy to destroy anyone that came after him at this point.
"That concludes our auction! Thank you all for attending and we hope to see you again during the next one! Please see our collection desk to pay for and acquire any merchandise you may have won. Those of you that are in a VIP room, an official will visit you shortly with all of your purchases as well as settling any remainders you owe on your account. Thank you!" Denji spoke before walking off the stage with a skip in his step.
Kayn looked over at the four who were still passed out on the couch and bed. He was going to wake them up to get them ready to leave as soon as possible, but paused, he couldn't get rid of his anger fully and he needed to dish out his Wrath, personally. He grabbed the communication crystal from his ring rather than using the distress beacon around his neck.
"Is everything ready?" Charlotte's voice echoed out.
"There's been a change of plan. A target has been placed on my back and I have no intentions of denying these people what they want. I'll collect all of the prisoners and bring them out of the building through whatever exit they send me through.
"Instruct whoever is in that area to take care of them for me. I'm going to be dealing with these people, personally."
