Enigma of Sin

Chapter 135: Calm Before the Storm

"…Kayn, what's going on? You should know full well that there are 5th stage core mages in there. Going in alone would practically be suicide for you."

"Just trust me Charlotte. I'll explain everything afterwards, but for now I just need you to trust me."

"Haa, fine. I'll alert the team to be on the lookout for your exit and to escort the people you bring out to safety. We will enter a while after you re-enter in order to back you up. Think a bit rationally even if you are angry. I'll trust you, but you have to trust is me. Good luck."

Charlotte then hung up the call and Kayn placed the crystal back into his dimensional ring. Any time now the auction official, most likely Denji, would show up with his purchases and ask for payment.

Under Kayn's hood, his face was surprisingly expressionless. He should be excited, nervous, or happy about getting his family's heirloom back and saving his father's core from being used by wicked people, but he wasn't feeling anything other than seething anger currently.

He had smothered his rage enough to be in this emotionless state outwardly, but inwardly he was ready to burst and the only way he could hold it back was to try and be as emotionless as possible.

As expected, Denji showed up a short while later. "Mr. Hasan! You've done me a service these last three days, and I know you may be in a bit of hot water due to Mr. Maneet. I've arranged for you to exit through our most undisclosed exit that even he doesn't know about. You'll find that your slaves are waiting there, as for your other items, I have them here."

Denji spoke excitedly as he pulled out the few items that Kayn had purchased throughout the auction from a spatial bag. Everything from the small black orb, to the metal, to finally his family's ring and father's core. Kayn treated the last two with particular care as he stored them inside of his dimensional ring.

Kayn then withdrew the funds that he was required to pay and handed it over to Denji, who was standing there with stars in his eyes as he was imagining nothing but a peaceful wonderful life going forward. Maybe he would even find a wife and start a family now!

Denji then finally glanced behind Kayn and into the room to check the condition of the four slaves he had purchased, but to his surprise, what he saw was a partially destroyed room!

"Ah, that. Here," Kayn handed over another 75 gold coins. "I got a bit upset that a few of the other VIPs were bidding me up when they had no intention to purchase the items. That should be enough to cover the repair costs."

Denji took the coins while dazedly nodding his head. The materials that the building and these rooms were created from were extremely durable. It would take quite the spell to damage and put them into the same condition this room was currently in.

"Please, I'd like to retrieve the rest of my merchandise and leave as I expect some company." Kayn spoke with a stern voice, he just wanted to get started before anyone he was targeting got away. He figured the money wouldn't be a problem and would be easy enough to retrieve, but he wasn't going to let Maneet escape.

"Right away Mr. Hasan, please follow me this way." Denji spoke before leading Kayn through a series of hallways and a secret door. Kayn knew about this door beforehand as he had found it during his probing. There were actually multiple of these throughout the underground facility, including one that led to the basement where all of the wares and prisoners were kept.

They soon arrived at a large room where several dozen people were waiting, all garbed in shabby clothing and with collars around their necks. Denji then turned to Kayn and handed over a regular bag containing all of the control beacons for the collars before leading him towards a door at the far end of the room.

"This will lead you into an alley a bit away from where you entered. As I said before, this pathway is quite secret, so you don't need to be worried about anyone going after you as soon as you exit, but do be careful in the future as I would hate to lose such an esteemed guest at our DeMarco Auction House.

"Once again thank you for your business and safe travels. I will take my leave now as I have one other guest that requires my attention." Denji spoke before walking away through the hallway they just came from.

Kayn then turned and looked at all of the people he had just purchased from this abominable place. A frown formed on his face, but was quickly replaced with a content smile. He was doing a good thing, freeing them all this way was the safest option for them.

If they had raided the place beforehand, a good amount of these people might have been sacrificed in order for the people running the place to escape.

Granted, there was a chance that there were still a few leftover slaves that weren't auctioned off, but he would have to be happy with this as this was all he could do for now. In just a little bit, he would see if there were any others that needed rescuing.

"Let's get going. Follow me." Kayn spoke to the nervous and resigned group of people as they began following their new master.

Jack, Colleen, Repha and her still unnamed sister were the ones following Kayn the closest as they were given more detailed instructions beforehand. All four of them were silently tearing up and they wanted to speak with Kayn, but they were honestly scared of him at the current moment, so they just quietly followed along.

As Denji said, no one was around to attack him at this exit. After walking for a bit, a familiar woman approached him from the front. "I hope you know what you're doing kid."

Kayn only nodded and handed over the bag of control beacons as well as the four that were currently in the dimensional ring. Yelena also expected Kayn to hand over the dimensional ring as well, but he showed no indication he was going to give it to her. She was given a strong look by Kayn when she glanced at his arm, indicating that he probably wasn't going to hand it over just yet.

"Alright everyone, follow along closely and don't separate from the group, we have a bit of walking to do!" Yelena shouted as she began to make a few complicated hand gestures while whispering something under her breath.

Yelena was supposedly one of the best fighters in the group, so using her this way wasn't exactly the best choice, but it also wasn't a bad choice. She was skilled with illusion spells that utilized the light element, so being able to cover the group with an illusion from a 6th stage mage was a sure-fire way to get away unscathed.

Kayn himself began to make his way back to the secret door which he just exited from. The door had shut on its own and sealed after everyone exited, but Kayn knew where it was. Getting back in shouldn't be a problem as he would just have to disrupt the formation around the door and it would unlock and open.

The closer Kayn got to the facility, the more his aura was starting to leak out around him. Fortunately, it wasn't his full aura as it didn't contain the main aspects of Obsidian Void Dragons, so it wouldn't be tracked by the people hunting his family.

Arriving at the door, Kayn put his hand up to it and sent a shock of pure mana through the formation, short circuiting it and opening the door. He then made his way back through the winding passages to the main hallway with the VIP rooms where employees were still running around with guests being escorted out.

Kayn used his Mana Sense aggressively to see if his target was still around, and sure enough he was still inside of his room and with Denji no less. Kayn walked with a nonchalant pace towards the room and when he arrived at it, there were two guards, both in the 4th stage standing in front of the door.

They remained quite as they stared at the empty abyss where Kayn's face should be. They recognized him as the person their boss had gone to talk to, but they didn't know his current intentions. Was he here to renegotiate or something?

Without any warning, Kayn grabbed both of their faces, one in each hand, and igniting them with Extinction Flames. Kayn kept his hands covering their mouths as the flames ate through their bodies. It wasn't slow like back when he had lit the Behemoth Ape ablaze, but quick and painful.

Within half a minute, both guards were reduced to nothing along with their armor, their weapons falling to the floor. A room attendant walked by at this time and Kayn spun around to wipe them out as well, but upon seeing the collar around their neck, he stopped his movements and only moved behind them to knock them out.

He then placed her up against the wall before returning to Maneet's door. With a strong kick, the door blasted open and Kayn waltzed inside, under the stupefied gazes of both Denji and Maneet.
