Fire Chief vs. Surgeon: A Tale of Relentless Pursuit

Chapter 9: Chapter 9 He Does Not Need Surgery

"I'm just afraid that if we're not careful, we'll ignite both powder kegs."

But, I have to admit, that female doctor is so tm awesome!

At least, no one has ever seen someone dare to point at Captain Jiang's nose and yell at him, and what's most unexpected is, Captain Jiang actually obediently listened.

Damn! Damn! Damn!

I simply can't believe it!

...

Over in the orthopedics department, the patient room had already been prepared in advance, with Jiang Ye and one of his teammates sharing a room.

Lu Jing dealt with everything strictly by the book, so much so that nobody could tell there was anything amiss.

"Doctor Lu, does Captain Jiang need surgery?" a teammate asked.

Lu Jing shook his head without even looking up, as he flipped through the X-rays he had taken earlier:

"He doesn't need surgery. In a moment, we'll immobilize his injury, cast it, and then he'll need to be hospitalized for a few days to receive IV fluids to reduce inflammation and swelling. What happened to the wound on his back?"

"He accidentally got scratched by a nail at the fire scene, about 7 cm long."

"A nail?"

"That's correct."

Only then did Lu Jing put away the X-rays and other medical reports and walked over to the bedside, looking at the teammate closest to him:

"Please lift up his shirt for me, I need to take a look at his wound."

"Okay, okay, Doctor Lu."

The teammate was a bit nervous and didn't dare to proceed directly:

"Captain Jiang, Doctor Lu said..."

The man glanced sideways:

"So what are you waiting for?"

"Ah? Oh, right."

The teammate's hands trembled slightly, but finally, he lifted the shirt.

Seeing the wound, Lu Jing couldn't help but take a sharp breath of air.

Wounds with a depth greater than 2mm usually need stitching because deeper and longer wounds can slightly open with body movement.

With a lot of movement, if a slightly deeper wound isn't sutured, it can bleed repeatedly, and the healing time for the wound will be longer, also resulting in a longer scar.

As for the cut on someone's back, upon visual inspection, the depth was at least 3mm—quite deep.

The entire back was a bloody mess, and since it was a nail scratch, there were already signs of infection at the wound.

"We need to clean the wound and stitch it up, then give him a tetanus shot."

"Yes, Doctor Lu."

Lu Jing nodded:

"Keep applying ice before the cast and keep an eye on the situation."

"Sure, sure." The nurse nodded repeatedly.

Then Lu Jing turned to Dr. Yu:

"I'm leaving him in your care,"

"Don't worry, Mr. Lu."

After Dr. Yu spoke, he immediately left the patient room for the plaster room to prepare materials.

In the patient room, as Lu Jing was just about to turn around to check on the patient in the next bed, a faint voice came from behind:

"Doctor Lu, wasn't I your patient?"

Lu Jing stopped in his tracks, not failing to detect the questioning tone in the man's voice.

In fact, the reason Jiang Ye got suddenly angry and made a scene in the emergency department earlier was due to this issue.

Just, speechless.

He redirected his gaze back to the person:

"The hospital has clear regulations that open up a green channel for critically ill patients. Your teammate's injury is much more serious than yours and requires immediate surgery, which is why I handed you over to my colleague. Don't worry; Dr. Yu is very skilled, he'll take care of your issue no problem."

Was that the question?

But the reason the woman gave seemed impossible to refute.

Lu Jing wasn't planning to waste any more words, however, the firefighter in the neighboring bed urgently said:

"I'm fine, this wound is nothing serious. Doctor Lu, why don't you treat Captain Jiang first? I can hold on!"
