GIVE YOU MY HEART [BL]

Chapter 65: THE FACE ICON

-Haruka POV-

"You seem to get along better with the Director." Lucas suddenly spoke. I was shocked by his words. I didn't know what to respond to at the moment.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Auclair. I didn't mean to offend you." Lucas apologised to me. He looks a bit scared right now. Maybe because I didn't say anything.

"No, don't worry. You didn't do anything wrong. Well, the Director and I are not that close. I'm his secretary, so that's why." I replied, not even sure with my own answer, actually. Getting along better? Me and Levi? Are we actually getting along much better than before? Well, forget it. I need to focus on work right now.

"So, what is it you want to discuss with me? I believe you already discussed everything with the Director before, right?" I asked him, changing the topic. Well, that's the reason why he's here, btw.

"Yes. We've already discussed everything that should be discussed. But the Director said to ask for your opinion also, Mr. Auclair. He said you should be able to help me." Lucas said that awkwardly. Tch. That jerk Levi is doing this on purpose. I knew it.

"Ahem. I'm not sure if I'm a good help for you, but I'll try my best. So, what did you guys already discuss?" I asked him

"We did discuss the budget, the organisation, promotion, the tentative, the staff, who to invite, the prize and gifts for guests, inventory and supplies, and also the theme." Lucas responded, taking a moment to review the documents. Wow. That's a lot. No wonder Levi took some time to meet Lucas. I look at the document again. I should take a look at the budget first, I guess.

"500 million euros?" I mumbled to myself. Is this right? Are we going to spend 500 million euros just for the resort grand opening? This is absurd.

The hotel opening is held together with Laura's wedding, so it makes sense if it reached over $1 billion in cost. But this is only the resort opening. I carefully reviewed the content. Decoration, entertainment, advertising cost, guest gifts, lucky draw prize. Wait, the grand prize of the lucky draw. No wonder it reaches 500 million euros.

"Did the Director suggest the idea for the lucky draw grand prize?" I asked Lucas. Well, the answer is obvious. Of course it's Levi. L. Schatz's painting is the grand prize. His own painting. I believe his painting can be over 500 million dollars, actually.

"Yes. I was a bit surprised at first actually because he mentioned the painting by L. Schatz, one of the most famous artists in the world. But the Director said he can manage." Lucas replied. Of course he can manage. The artist is himself.

"What about the guest gifts? Did the Director say he'll manage that too?" Well, I'm just guessing because the gifts involve the mini painting, which I believe is Levi's idea too.

"Yes. The Director said he will handle the gifts and lucky draw prizes himself. So he asked me to focus on the other parts." Lucas explained. Of course Levi needs to handle it himself. But this is too much money.

"I understand that. But will Chief Garnier approve this? I think this is a bit excessive." I voice out my opinion.

"Actually, I did tell the same thing to the Director. But he said, don't worry, just let him handle the budget part." Lucas replied. Well, Levi is more superior than the Chief, btw. And no one would dare to defy him, so that's not a problem for him.

"Okay, we'll just let him handle that then. Before we go through the other parts, what about the face icon of the resort? Did you guys discuss that too?" I asked for more. That's because I'm not involved in this project in the first place.

"Well about that, that person should be you, Mr. Auclair." Lucas' reply shocked me. What? Me?

"Did the Director tell you to say this?" I inquired, looking straight into his eyes. He better tell the truth.

"No, Mr. Auclair. I personally think you might be the best fit for that. The Director said to ask for your opinion first." Lucas tried to explain. But why me? Is it because of the theme?

"What's the theme?" I asked him to confirm.

"Well, since the resort is in front of the beach, we decided to go with the beach theme." He answered. Beach theme? Is that theme suitable for me? Is there any other reason?

"Say, Lucas. Pampelonne Beach is a famous place where celebrities and influencers go to party, right? Why don't you contact some of them to be the face icon?" I suggested. Right. That should be a good idea.

"Well, we did plan to invite celebrities too, but that's for another occasion. As for the face icon, I think you suit that the most. You have beautiful blue eyes, just like the ocean. Besides, I think you are far more handsome and pretty than those celebrities, Mr. Auclair. The Director showed me a picture of you at the beach, after seeing that, I am more convinced that you should be the one." He keeps talking. Wait. What did he just say? Levi showed him my picture?

"Lucas, what did you just say?" I asked, looking at him.

"I said you're the most suitable…"

"No, not that. What about the picture the Director showed you?" With a smile, I asked him. Of course a death smile.

"Crap. I shouldn't have said that." Lucas mumbled while covering his mouth.

"So, what is it, Lucas? Would you mind telling me?" I look at him with a death glare, trying to scare him.

"Umm, the Director did show me a picture of you at the beach, Mr. Auclair. Well, he showed that as just an example, actually. Really, I'm not lying. But before he showed that, I was already thinking about making you the face icon." He explained. Example? Example, my ass. That jerk was doing it on purpose.

"Is that the reason why you said we're getting along better now?" I asked.

"Yeah, right. He said he brought you to accompany him to the Pampelonne Beach last month and just snapped the picture coincidentally." Lucas explained more. Pampelonne Beach last month. Tch. I never went there for work, not to mention with him. Of course I never did that. Well, let's just leave it there.

"That stupid boss of yours always does everything without asking people's opinion first." I blurted out. Damn. I just called him stupid in front of Lucas.

"Stupid boss? Hahaha. I guess he's always giving you a tough time, Mr. Auclair. You even need to work overtime today." Lucas said with an awkward laugh.

"You're right. He always gives me a difficult time. But I'm already getting used to it. Hahaha. Well, forget about him. Let's just continue with our discussion, shall we?" I said that, looking at the documents again.

"Ah, you're right. But before that, Mr. Auclair, about the face icon, would you consider it?" He asked. He still hopes that I will accept that role.

"I'll think about it." I replied shortly, but that was enough to make him happy. Maybe that's a positive answer for him.

"Alright, sir. I'll do my best to lead this project until the end." He said that confidently.

//SKIP//

It's 5:30 pm right now. I can't believe I just followed what that jerk said. He even told me to ask my driver to take my car. Well, that means I actually need to go with him. He said that's an order. Right, I'm just doing that because he's my boss. I'm done with all my tasks for today and also tomorrow. I look at my phone. Where is this jerk? Keep me waiting like this. I'll make him pay later.

DING!

A message came in. I look at the sender. Levi. Ugh, finally.

'Come down, Haruka. I'm waiting in front of the building. That's what the text said. I just ignored the message. Taking all my things and then leaving to meet that stupid jerk.

"You're here. You didn't reply to my text, I thought you didn't see that." As soon as I entered the car, he spoke.

"Where are we going?" I ignored his rambling.

"You're no fun, Haruka. Well, I'm not telling you. That's a secret." He said so, starting the engine and leaving the company building.

"So, how's your discussion with Lucas today?" He asked, breaking the silence between us. Right. I do have something I want to ask him. But let's just see what he wants to say first.

"I guess that went by smoothly. As you said, he's improving better than I thought." I replied.

"I told you I have keen eyes, hahaha. So, did he mention anything about the face icon?" He asked. Here we go.

"Did you trick Lucas to pick me as the face icon?" I asked him with a glare.

"What? I didn't trick him. He personally thinks you're the most suitable person for that role." Levi said with a smirk, but his eyes were still on the road.

"Then why did you show him my picture?" I asked him for more.

"My, my. I told Lucas to keep it a secret. I guess he slipped it out, huh?" He said that with a chuckle. This is not funny.

"Well, I didn't mean to. I just showed him that as an example. Well, you look perfect in that picture. Just like the actual face icon for a beach resort." He said that playfully. He really enjoys teasing me right now, huh.

"Besides, everyone is curious about what the second young master of the Auclair Family is doing right now. They would be dying to see you as the face icon. I bet you'll be attracting more people better than those celebrities would. So, what do you say? Would you like to take that role?" He asked me, but I didn't respond to him. I keep my mouth shut. That's exactly the reason why I don't want to get involve in something like this. My face will go public again.

"Pfft. Is this your way of protesting Haruka? Hahaha, you're so cute." He said that while laughing. Did he really think this was funny?

"I'm not doing that. And you better stop laughing right now." I warned him with a glare.

"Alright, alright. We'll talk about it again later, okay? Come on, we already arrived." He said so, opening his door. I didn't realise the car had stopped moving already. I opened the door and got out of the car.

"Onii-chan!"
