God Level Farmer In Another World

Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Nighttrace Bar

Chapter 121: Nighttrace Bar

The young man caught the disdain in Evan's tone and looked at him with a pitying gaze.

"Natural talents in life don't have much of a future. If you don't believe me, go ahead and try the interview."

He saw no need to argue with these small-time poor folks.

His reason for coming to the interview was just to find a comfortable job to settle down in.

The young man pulled out his phone, swiping through photos of a girl. A lecherous smile appeared on his face.

He had never met this girl, only seen her photo once.

Moments ago, his good buddy had sent him a message saying everything was set up—tonight, he could "enjoy the feast."

At the end of the corridor, the sound of high heels clicking on the floor drew the attention of all the interviewees.

A mature, voluptuous woman in a purple gown was walking slowly toward them.

Her figure was striking, her long legs toned and powerful, and the fabric on her chest curved into a smooth, full arc. Her figure was explosive.

With every step she took, it seemed the earth shook.

Her name was Claire. Earlier that morning, she had placed a significant order with the Oumeng Decoration Company.

This explained why the staff leading her through the building were treating her with such reverence.

Evan glanced at her but quickly averted his gaze. Other than Tongtong, he wasn't interested in any other women.

The young man, however, couldn't take his eyes off her.

He understood that any woman treated so deferentially by the senior staff of this company must have an extraordinary background—definitely someone out of his league.

Yet, the burning desire in his lower abdomen was hard to suppress.

Determined, he decided to imagine tonight's girl as this purple-gowned woman.

The interviews finally began, and one by one, the applicants emerged from the office, dejected.

All were rejected on the spot.

They couldn't understand why their talents, which seemed perfectly suited to the position, were dismissed outright.

Many of them had faced repeated rejections at various job interviews. If this continued, their only options would be manual labor or returning to their old neighborhoods.

They wondered bitterly, What was the point of even finishing high school?

Finally, it was Evan's turn. Excited, he walked into the office.

He thought, With my A-grade talent, there's no way I'll have a problem.

Confidently, he detailed his resume to the interviewers.

Things like placing third in the province's Spiritual Aptitude Test, or his A-grade talent in sculpture.

Unfortunately, the interviewers didn't seem impressed. They dismissed him with a cold, indifferent line:

"Your talent is decent. Go home and wait for a call."

Evan froze.

The underlying meaning of that sentence was clear: Your resume is good, but we're not hiring you.

Forcing a strained smile, he politely nodded, thanked them, and left the office.

Sitting on the bench outside, he buried his face in his hands, rubbing his hair in frustration.

The young man glanced at Evan, as if he had foreseen this outcome, and let out a mocking chuckle before entering the office.

The young man spent over half an hour in the office, far longer than anyone else. Evan realized that he must have gotten the job.

Evan couldn't understand why.

He had worn a suit and tie, clearly showing how much he valued this opportunity.

His A-grade talent in sculpture was rare, even on a national level.

But what about the young man?

He had shown up in wrinkled casual clothes, reeking of women's perfume, clearly after a night of partying.

And his only qualification was having studied sculpture in university.

How could that compare to an A-grade talent?

As Evan trudged toward the stairwell, he wondered how he could face the sweet, innocent girl back home.

He shook his head with a bitter smile, his entire demeanor filled with dejection.

Claire watched his retreating figure and turned to the senior executive beside her.

"Was he one of the interviewees? Did he fail the interview?"

The executive smiled and replied, "Yes. After all, we're only hiring one sculptural designer for this role."

Claire's eyes widened in surprise as she asked, "Isn't he an A-grade sculpting talent? Does your company only hire S-grade talents?"

Claire was planning to open a bar in the North Sea, which would serve as the offline hub for the Hunter's Guild in the area.

Her choice of the Oumeng Company for the bar's interior design had been influenced by the fact that Evan was interviewing there.

She found his rejection astonishing.

An A-grade talent in sculpture would undoubtedly be a major asset in the design industry.

The executive cast her a suspicious glance.

"Is he really an A-grade sculpting talent?"

"If so, what a pity."

"How did you know he's A-grade, Claire?"

Claire replied, "He submitted his resume to my bar as well. Because he's A-grade, he left a strong impression. Besides, with his size, it's hard to forget him."

This explanation was plausible enough.

The senior executive hesitated for a moment before speaking: "If it were anyone else asking, I wouldn't say, but since you're the one asking, I'll tell you. The sculptural designer position was already pre-determined. In odd roles like this, the public recruitment is just a facade. Everyone except the pre-selected candidate is just a placeholder."

Many companies operate this way, even the sheriff's system. They announce a position, luring countless hopeful applicants who think luck is on their side. But in reality, the decision was made long before the posting.

The senior executive continued, "Claire, you're a businesswoman. In today's world, you must understand this, right?"

Of course, Claire understood. In this world, only people with connections could land decent jobs. Some technical positions could be trained on-site, but why prioritize true talent over connections?

Sure, real talent is important, but when compared to someone with influential connections? Hiring such a person gives the company access to a new network. That's a resource. And the balance between resources and talent? That depends on the times.

Seeing Claire remain silent, the senior executive added in a low voice: "The person who got the position comes from a family in the building materials business. In the future, we can source materials at the lowest cost, and you'll save money too. Please don't take offense or doubt our company's capabilities."

Claire gave a cryptic smile. "Why would I take offense? I'm grateful to your company."

Evan stood outside a ten-yuan fast-food restaurant, hesitating for a long time, unwilling to go in.

He noticed something odd—these cheap fast-food places were filled with men, with no women in sight.

Touching the money in his pocket, he eventually ordered two steamed buns and sat on the curb to eat.

He silently vowed that he would never let his girl eat here. But he had no idea what else he could do to improve his situation.

At that moment, Evan received a text message.

It was an interview invitation.

Eyes wide, he read it aloud: "Nighttrace Bar. Security Manager? Did I even apply to this company?"

A security manager was essentially a head of security, a role not just anyone could take in this world. Companies hiring for such positions were usually major players, demanding highly capable security teams.

A security manager needed the ability to maintain control and command respect.

"Can someone with my natural talents really handle this?"

After dozens of failed interviews, Evan had grown timid. He turned back to glance at the ten-yuan fast-food restaurant, clenched his teeth, and muttered: "No harm in trying—it doesn't cost anything!"

Taking a big bite of his steamed bun, Evan opened his phone, navigated to the map app, and searched for Nighttrace Bar's location.

It was a bit far.

Unwilling to spend money on a bus or taxi, he decided to walk there.
