God Level Farmer In Another World

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: The Monster Siege (Continued)

Chapter 55: The Monster Siege (Continued)

From the ground outside the city, a pair of crimson eyes emerged.

It devoured sand and grass, rapidly expanding into a beast dozens of meters tall.

Plants and animals alike became part of its body.

A massive turtle shell grew on its back, bristling with spikes.

This terrifying, deformed monster was known as the Mountain Turtle, a B-rank creature.

Cracks split open its flesh, and countless eyes peered out, surveying the surroundings.

In its view, countless monsters charged toward the towering hundred-meter city walls.

On top of the walls, Welma stood with her long legs in boots planted firmly against the stone, staring into the distance.

The ground shook as roars echoed through the air, and massive clouds of dust rose up, blotting out the sun as a horde of monsters trampled forward.

Welma murmured to herself:

"I expected this siege to be unusual, but I didn't anticipate such a scale."

Her secretary approached her ear, eyes filled with anxiety:

"Director Welma, the monsters have cut off all transport routes around Bluewater City. We're now an isolated fortress! Are these creatures trying to destroy the city?!"

Welma glanced at him with disdain, internally cursing him as a coward.

Scared already at a sight like this?

She raised her hand, shouting coldly:

"Open fire!"

On the walls, the border guards had already set up various heavy firearms.

Gun muzzles and cannons spewed fire as a metallic storm of bullets and explosives poured forth, tearing through countless monsters.

It wasn't true that weapons became obsolete after the monsters invaded.

High-level creatures were indeed immune to firearms, but heavy weaponry was still effective against low-level monster cannon fodder.

The thunderous gunfire did little to ease the nerves of Welma's secretary as he scanned the surroundings, tense with fear:

"D-D-Director Welma, such a large-scale siege must be led by high-rank monsters!"

No sooner had he spoken than a piercing eagle screech sounded in the sky.

Welma looked up to see a gigantic demon eagle circling above Bluewater City.

The eagle spread its wings, casting a shadow over the city like a dark cloud.

"Shoot it down!"

Welma commanded, pointing at the eagle.

Awakened individuals with ranged attack abilities unleashed their powers toward the monster in the sky.

"Screech!"

The eagle twisted its body mid-air, and thousands of monsters dropped from its back like raindrops.

Welma pulled out a walkie-talkie, her voice harsh:

"Ethan Blake, transport monsters have appeared! The creatures have successfully infiltrated the city."

"All Military Division officers are to clear out the monsters. You must defend the Security Bureau!"

"If anything happens to the Bureau, I'll kill you myself!"

"Understood!"

Ethan's eyes burned as he watched the falling monsters, calculating their trajectory.

He issued orders methodically:

"Attention, all patrolling officers! The monsters are currently on Fragrant Source Road between the East and North districts!"

"Officers from the East District and North District precincts, you must contain the creatures on Fragrant Source Road!"

"Remember, protecting the citizens comes first!"

"Reinforcements from the Military Division will arrive shortly!"

Some are born soldiers, while others are born generals. Ethan Blake was clearly the latter.

It was his first time commanding the Military Division in a monster siege, yet he showed no signs of inexperience.

The initial wave of monsters that breached the city was quickly wiped out under Ethan's command.

Cheers of victory came through the walkie-talkie from the officers.

But Ethan frowned. It had gone too smoothly.

The monsters had deployed rare transport creatures but had only dropped a batch of cannon fodder on Fragrant Source Road?

It didn't make sense!

Just then, another eagle screech echoed through the sky.

Ethan looked up, his pupils contracting sharply!

Four demon eagles circled overhead, their backs covered with dense masses of monsters clinging to their feathers.

The eagles twisted mid-air, and thousands of monsters plummeted to the ground.

Some creatures died on impact, while others broke bones.

More monsters rose from the ground, howling as they charged toward nearby residents.

Ethan roared into the walkie-talkie:

"Patrolling officers, head to Eastern Mountain Road, May Fourth Street, and Central Plains Road immediately!"

This wave of monsters was different; they weren't just cannon fodder. Among them were dozens of C-rank creatures, led by four B-rank monsters, advancing toward the Security Bureau.

The situation was dire. Ethan could no longer stay in command behind the scenes; he needed to join the frontline.

Fighting and directing the city's defense simultaneously would be no small feat.

But there was no time for second thoughts now.

In the patrol car, Ethan pondered for a while before turning to his apprentice, Sarah:

"Sarah, if I die in battle, go to the Old Oak Café and buy a cup of Blue Mountain coffee."

Old Oak Café

The café was empty today, with only a cup of cold coffee in front of Alexander.

Sitting across from him, Yvette Ivanova felt a deep sense of relief.

The monsters had breached the city walls and successfully infiltrated it.

If she hadn't met Alexander, would she have been able to remain this detached from the chaos around her?

Yvette walked over to the coffee machine, prepared a new cup, and placed it in front of Alexander.

She sat quietly, much like a dutiful maid.

The radio crackled with news updates.

"Central Plains Street has fallen! Residents in the vicinity are urged to evacuate immediately!"

"Thanks to the early evacuation, there have been no casualties near Eastern Mountain Road."

"The monsters invading May Fourth Street have been exterminated by the arriving officers. The Military Division Captain, Ethan Blake, has been severely injured but continues to fight on the front lines!"

Hearing these reports, Alexander furrowed his brow.

Why was Ethan still the one dealing with these monsters after all this time?

Where were the B-rank fighters of the Security Bureau?

Why hasn't Welma taken action yet?

And what about the bishop? Wasn't he invited by Welma to defend Bluewater City?

Are they really planning to guard the creature inside the Security Bureau at all costs, even if it means letting Bluewater City turn into a city of death?

Alexander now understood Welma's intentions.

She didn't care about the citizens of Bluewater City. She only wanted to protect the beast inside the Security Bureau!

And the bishop from the Church was her backup plan to safeguard the creature, wasn't he?

Yvette, growing more concerned, spoke up:

"If Bluewater City suffers heavy losses, wouldn't that affect the guild? Should I—"

Alexander shook his head:

"The situation is chaotic. The invading monsters in Bluewater City likely include many B-ranks. If you go, you'll just be throwing your life away."

Yvette responded earnestly:

"If necessary, I'm willing."

Yvette knew that Alexander didn't hold her in high regard, not even as much as Jackson.

She was willing to risk everything for a chance to become one of Alexander's close aides.

Alexander glanced at Yvette deeply but gave no response.

Bluewater City was the origin of the Mercenary Guild.

He wouldn't allow Welma to destroy the base he had painstakingly built.

Alexander sent a message to Lily, who was keeping an eye on the bishop.

St. Susia Church

Aside from the Old Oak Café, which had remained distant from the chaos, everything here seemed normal as well.

Bishop Desmond reclined leisurely on a deck chair atop the church roof, overlooking Bluewater City.

With the excellent vision granted by his A-rank awakening, he could clearly see the smoke and flames within the city.

"One day, spreading God's light among the monsters could be truly fascinating," he mused, glancing over at Lily, who was lounging nearby.

"With the city in this state, why hasn't your president made a move yet?

Well, I suppose for people like us, we've already transcended the common crowd."

Lily's phone rang. She glanced at it before turning to the bishop:

"Desmond, my president has a message for you."

The bishop rolled his eyes and took a sip of his coffee:

"Go on, then."

Lily relayed:

"He says you should go deal with the monsters right now."

Desmond spat his coffee out, eyes wide in disbelief:

"What?! Who is he to order me around?! I'm not going!"

Lily replied calmly:

"If the damage to Bluewater City is too great, he'll bury you alive. So, will you go or not?"

The bishop froze for three seconds, then cursed under his breath as he stood up.
