Yoon Seeun, who was studying for exams at the library, couldn’t help but mutter to herself when she saw the tracklist posted by Kairos’s official account.
“What kind of concept is this…?”
They had emphasized the Youth Trilogy for a spring comeback, but the album title turned out to be *Youth’s End*. It was shocking enough to see a title like that even before the story began, but the title track’s name was even more surprising.
“*Spring Is Gone*? Seriously…?”
How could this be? Their pre-release song was called *Again, Spring*.
“Did they all hit puberty at the same time…?”
Maybe they were going for a reverse cliché, like they did with *This Is Not a Carol*?
While Seeun pondered over the confusing album concept, someone gently tapped on her desk. She looked up from her phone to see a man sitting in front of her, gesturing for her to be quiet with an irritated expression.
“Oh… I’m sorry….”
Only then did she remember she was in a library. Embarrassed, she nodded apologetically before focusing back on her phone. She clicked on the tracklist image posted by the official account and zoomed in.
As strange as the title was, there was something more important to her.

**
**<Lyrics by Seo Taeil, Yoon Heejae, DEON (…)>**
**<Composed by Seo Taeil, Undying, G.NU (…)>**

She was looking to see if her favorite, Lee Doha, had participated in producing the title track.

“Ah, there it is… but he only participated in the lyrics. Did he just work on the rap part?”

Seeun’s face clearly showed her disappointment.

She didn’t particularly mind that the song was written by Seo Taeil, but as a fan of Doha, she couldn’t help but wish that his role as a ‘producer’ would be more prominent. After all, having compared the composition styles of both *Over the Night* and *Kick Off*, she knew which type of music made her heart race more.

“Seo Taeil’s good at writing catchy songs, but… I really hoped they’d give Doha the title track this time. After all, *This Is Not a Carol* and *Again, Spring* were both well-received. I thought they’d go with their own songs for this album….”

Although consistently contributing to rap-making helped maintain Doha’s image as a ‘skilled rapper member,’ it wasn’t as impactful in today’s music scene as it once was.

To someone like Seeun, who had always been a fan of rappers in K-pop, writing one’s own rap parts was just the basics.

Default, standard setting—the bare minimum expected of a rap member.

The biggest reason she hadn’t fully fallen for Lee Yugeon during the *Miro Maze* third round, even though she had been impressed, was this exact issue. If a rapper couldn’t write their own parts, it was hard to be truly impressed.

Of course, after debuting, it seemed like Doha was teaching him the ropes, and Yugeon had also been pulling up Kairos’s overall dance skills, earning her grudging respect as a ‘comrade.’ But still…

In conclusion, Seeun found it very disappointing that Seo Taeil was once again in charge of writing the title track.

“Maybe I’ll just be content with *Again, Spring*….”

The group was still new and had been making back-to-back comebacks with almost no breaks, so they probably didn’t have time to write songs.

She tried to console herself as she scrolled down to the next track’s credits, but her thoughts were interrupted by a message from her sister.

<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ Yo>

<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ Hey, yooooo>

<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ WTF WTF WTF>

<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ Did you see the tracklist?????????>

“…What’s going on?”

Was there something more?

Perplexed, Seeun scrolled down to the second track. The credits for *Wish You Were There* filled her screen, and her eyes landed on the text at the same time her sister’s messages came in.

**<Track 02. Sure enough, it also had English initials next to the title.

**<Track 03. *Heat Haze* (Hand symbols for cherry, gun, cat, rabbit)>**
**<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ Looks like they’ve got one song each for the older and younger members. What an epic combination.

Seeun bit her lip to hold back a gasp.

But as always, Kairos hadn’t stopped there. Seeun’s eyes drifted back to the credits for tracks two and three.

**<Track 02. *Wish You Were There* (Hand symbols for butterfly, bear, and wolf)>**
**<Lyrics by DEON, Kang Hajin (…)>**
**<Composed by DEON, Kang Hajin (…)>**
**<Track 03. *Heat Haze* (Hand symbols for cherry, gun, cat, rabbit)>**
**<Lyrics by DEON, Kang Hajin (…)>**
**<Composed by DEON, Kang Hajin (…)>**

**<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ ARE DOHA AND HAJIN OUT OF THEIR MINDS??????????????????>**
**<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ DO THESE GUYS EVEN SLEEP????????>**
**<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ THIS IS THE ULTIMATE SELF-PRODUCED GROUP HIGH>**
**<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ WOW>**
**<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ HOLY>**
**<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ AAAHHHHHHHH>**
**<YouWouldn’tBeTheOnlyChildIfNotForYou ‖ (Screaming emoji)>**

Seeun silently reviewed the entire album’s credits once more.

Aside from the title track, *Spring Is Gone*, Doha and Hajin’s names were listed on every track.

And not just listed—they were at the top.

“Damn, this is it…”

Unable to contain her excitement, Seeun finally let out a gasp, earning a glare from the guy in front of her again. At least she was aware enough to quickly pack up her things and leave the library.

Carrying her bag and books, Seeun stepped outside and immediately called her friend and fellow fangirl, Gwajam (a.k.a. Sunset University, Kang Hajin’s homma).

Gwajam, who was enjoying her time off after taking a leave of absence, picked up before the phone even rang three times.

And she immediately screamed.

“HEY!!!! DID YOU SEE IT?!?!?!”

Oh, she’d seen it already.

Relieved that her friend’s fangirl fire was still burning bright, Seeun smiled as she held her phone.

“Hey, where are you? Let’s meet up right now.”

Was the exam that important? (It was… but…!)

Seeun felt like she needed to gush about this three-hour-long episode right away.

“Ah, spring is really the best time for a comeback. Look at the clear sky. It’s perfect weather for a comeback.”

It was a beautiful spring day.

Though the title of their new song was *Spring Is Gone*, it still felt like spring.

* * *

The fact that the members of Kairos were actively involved in planning and producing their album concepts was something every Desti knew. In fact, anyone who was even slightly familiar with the idol scene would know.

The slogan “self-produced idols” was MiRo’s biggest selling point.

For example, when Utopia was gradually finding its footing after their debut, posts like this would often appear in fan communities:

**[Han Sewon’s Interview: This Part Stood Out to Me]**

…At least when it comes to music, I try to fully respect the members’ decisions. I believe my role is to support them in getting their music out into the world the way they envision it. After all, the reason Utopia was formed was because I believed in the music and performances the members created.

(…)

…I want to continue creating groups like

Utopia in the future. Groups that are confident in their music. Groups that know exactly what message they want to convey to the public through their music.

I completely disagree with the statement that ‘idols are not singers.’ I believe that even though the form has changed, the fact that they compete through their music remains the same.

Honestly, I used to think it was a bit irresponsible of the company to leave all the A&R work to Taeil. But after reading this interview, I think it’s more about Sewon’s trust in the members.

– At first, they only did it themselves because they didn’t have any moneyㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ But now they realize Taeil and Jinu know Utopia the best, so they’re sticking with them. I actually like it this way.

– Still, Taeil and Jinu worked so hard in the beginningㅠㅠㅠ I’m just glad they have a dedicated A&R team now…

└ Same, I’m glad… Taeil looks much more relaxed now.

– ‘Sewon’s trust in them’ < This is true. Taeil received offers from other places, but he chose MiRo because Sewon promised to let him do whatever he wanted with the music.

└ MiRo♡Taeil forever

└ MiRo lets Taeil do whatever he wants when it comes to musicㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

└ Am I the only one who thinks Taeil might end up as a MiRo executive? He loves this company too much.

– No matter how much I get annoyed with MiRo, I keep coming back because of stuff like this.

Of course, as MiRo grew and the idol market expanded, they began bringing in outside songs and professional producers. But their core identity remained the same.

“Concept masters, self-produced idols.”

This was what the public expected and anticipated from MiRo idols.

And Kang Hajin was more aware of that than anyone else.

**@strongjin**
**Hey, the article about the comeback album is out**
**It says the members took the lead in planning the concept, choreography, and songs**
**And the Youth Trilogy concept was Hajin’s idea**
**Ah, this genius Hajin!!!!**
*(Screenshot of a news article about Kairos’s comeback.jpg)*
**Shares: 982 Likes: 1,022**

**[Pride in seeing their names on every credit line]**

I’m already shaking at the thought of a unit song with both the older and younger members, but finding out that Doha and Hajin wrote and composed it… tlqkf…………..

What kind of amazing songs have they brought us this time?

**@rossy_1017**
**But seriously, what’s the concept for this album…**

The first track is called *Spring Is Gone*, and the last track is *Again, Spring*, with an album title like *Youth’s End*…

It’s got this vibe that’s driving fans crazy with excitement, and Hajin is the one behind it…?

Knowing our Hajin and his otaku energy, my heart can’t help but race.

Just from a tracklist, Destis were buzzing with excitement all day long.

From apocalyptic themes like the end of the world to tear-jerking nostalgia, Destis speculated wildly about the concept based on the song titles.

And after a few days passed, the next teaser, as promised by the comeback scheduler, was revealed.

**<K:RUS (Kairos) Youth’s End: The Case of the Missing First Love Concept Trailer>**

The concept trailer’s thumbnail featured Hajin and Taehyun, with pink blush on their cheeks, dressed in pure white sweaters, leaning on each other with their eyes closed.
