Haikyuu: Nekoma's Ace

Chapter 10: Aftermath

Aftermath of Karasuno vs. Nekoma: First Practice Match

The gym gradually emptied as both teams gathered their gear, tired but satisfied from the intense match. Karasuno was huddled together, exchanging feedback and reflecting on the game, while Nekoma quietly discussed their strategies on the other side of the court.

Karasuno's Perspective

"That Wakasa guy is insane," Tanaka groaned, leaning back against the wall. "How is he just a first year?!"

"His control is ridiculous," Asahi admitted. "I couldn't read where he was going to hit half the time."

"Yeah, he's strong," Daichi said, his voice steady. "But this match showed us where we need to improve."

"Like our blocking," Kageyama muttered, visibly annoyed. "He kept finding gaps."

"Still, we surprised them," Hinata said with a determined grin. "Did you see their faces after our quick attack?"

"Yeah, but they adapted fast," Sugawara replied. "We need to stay one step ahead next time."

Nekoma's Perspective

On the other side of the gym, Wakasa Kiyoshi sat quietly, sipping water. Despite his calm exterior, his mind replayed the quick attack from Hinata and Kageyama.

"That quick was something else," Kuroo said, plopping down beside him.

Wakasa nodded. "It was impressive. Their timing was perfect."

"But you kept your cool," Yaku added, giving the first-year a pat on the back. "Not bad for your debut practice match."

Kenma, sitting cross-legged nearby, finally spoke up. "That Hinata guy... he's fast, but he's predictable once you get used to him. We'll shut him down next time."

Wakasa's lips curved into a faint smile. "I'll make sure of it."

Hinata Meets Wakasa

As the teams crossed paths near the exit, Hinata couldn't resist approaching Wakasa.

"Hey!" Hinata called, bouncing on his toes.

Wakasa turned, his calm eyes meeting Hinata's fiery gaze.

"You were amazing out there!" Hinata said with a grin. "How are you already so good as a first year?"

Wakasa tilted his head slightly, studying the energetic player. "I could ask you the same thing. That quick attack… it's not something just anyone can do."

Hinata beamed. "Thanks! But next time, we're going to beat you!"

Wakasa's faint smile widened. "Looking forward to it. But don't think I'll go easy on you."

As the two parted ways, a quiet sense of rivalry sparked between them.

A New Rivalry

As Karasuno boarded their bus, the team buzzed with plans for improvement. Hinata stared out the window, his mind replaying Wakasa's spikes and controlled movements.

"He's strong," Hinata muttered. "But I'm going to beat him."

Meanwhile, back in Nekoma's gym, Wakasa watched as Kenma and Kuroo discussed the next day's training.

"That Hinata kid is good," Wakasa thought, gripping the straps of his bag. "But if they think that quick attack will be enough, they're wrong."

Both teams left with a sense of determination, knowing that this was only the beginning of their rivalry. The Battle at the Trash Heap was far from over.
