Harry Potter: Becoming a Study God

Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Soft Light Badge

Upon leaving the greenhouse and glancing at the distance back to the castle, Wade decisively raised his wand:

"Accio broom!" (Summoning Charm)

A flying broom shot out from the window of Ravenclaw Tower, tracing a graceful arc through the sky before coming to a stop right beside him.

He mounted the broom and flew skillfully back to his dormitory.

Wade had once thought that if he were to buy a broom, it would have to be a brand-new one, never used by anyone else. Much like how he wouldn't want a secondhand car.

But ever since the three house-elves had happily gifted him this broom, Wade's mindset had changed.

So what if it's a Comet 140?

He wasn't participating in Quidditch matches. As a short-distance mode of transport, an old broom served just as well as a new one.

This broom carried with it the sincere feelings of those who gave it to him, and that was more valuable than even the most expensive racing broom worth thousands of Galleons.

Besides, Wade had modified the magic on the broom several times after receiving it. Although it wasn't as fast as the Nimbus series, its stability and comfort were just as good, if not better.

After returning to his dormitory and taking a quick shower, the bells within the castle began to ring. Wade changed into clean clothes and headed to the Great Hall, where many students were already having lunch.

Wade chose a random empty seat and sat down. He had just forked some steak and roasted bread onto his plate when Michael, as usual, sat down beside him.

Wade gave him a surprised glance.

Michael raised an eyebrow. "What's up?"

He reached for a syrup-filled pastry and began selecting between different types of roast meat.

Wade lowered his eyes and smiled. "After what was said earlier, I thought you'd distance yourself from me."

Michael clicked his tongue.

"Why would I push away a friend because of something an enemy said?" he said as he wiggled his finger. "If I were that easily swayed, I would've already distanced myself from you during Herbology class."

"True."

Wade nodded, and the subtle concern he had felt was blown away.

Michael then glanced over at the Slytherin table.

Malfoy was still in a foul mood. He hadn't eaten much, and after what seemed like a brief argument with the people around him, he pushed his plate aside and stormed out of the Great Hall.

Crabbe and Goyle looked like they wanted to follow him, but after glancing at the food on the table, they ultimately decided to stay.

Michael squinted his eyes.

Bad ideas bubbled up in his mind like air rising to the surface of water.

Just then, a beautiful girl passed by. Her reddish-gold curls seemed to glow, and Michael's gaze was instinctively drawn to her.

Someone nearby let out a loud "hmph" as they walked by and purposely bumped into him, almost sending him face-first into his plate.

Michael was about to snap, but when he saw that the person who had bumped him was Padma, he quickly changed his attitude.

The girl glared down at him with eyes like daggers. Michael immediately withdrew his gaze and flashed an apologetic smile.

"Have you eaten, Padma?" he asked.

Padma just snorted again and turned to walk away with her dormmates.

Michael awkwardly rubbed his nose.

After Padma left, he couldn't help but look again at the girl who had caught his attention earlier. To his surprise, he realized it was Marietta, a third-year student.

She had previously been an ordinary-looking girl, but after just one summer, she had transformed into someone strikingly beautiful and radiant.

"Girls sure do change suddenly, huh…" Michael said thoughtfully.

"What?" Wade was puzzled.

"Well…" Michael started to explain, but then he noticed it wasn't just Marietta. Many other girls in the Great Hall—and even some boys—looked drastically different from how they had the previous term.

Simply put, everyone has become more attractive.

He touched his own sun-tanned face and felt a little disheartened.

"This is so strange," Michael remarked to Wade. "Why has everyone else gotten more attractive?"

Wade glanced around and immediately understood. He asked, "Doesn't anyone in your family subscribe to Witch Weekly?"

"Yeah," Michael said, "but isn't that mostly witches who subscribe?"

Witch Weekly is known for publishing celebrity gossip, divination quizzes, recipes, knitting patterns, and advice columns. It's incredibly popular among witches.

Michael's mother was a Muggle, so aside from The Daily Prophet, their family only subscribed to Muggle women's magazines.

"A few days ago, Witch Weekly published an article. Once you see it, you'll understand why." Wade pulled out a magazine from his bag and handed it to Michael.

One of the forms for Wade's pencil case was a book bag, and since it didn't weigh much, he often stuffed it with random things without bothering to take them out.

Michael took the magazine and looked at him curiously, "Wade, do you actually subscribe to Witch Weekly?"

Wade remained calm, "It was a sample copy sent to me."

Michael opened the magazine and immediately saw some comparison photos, all in color.

There were witches in their twenties and fifties, middle-aged wizards with balding heads, and young people with freckles.

In each set of photos, the same person, wearing the same clothes, stood in the same spot. One photo showed dull skin and rough features, while in the other, they appeared radiant, with smooth and beautiful skin.

Looking closer, it was an article introducing Aslan's Magic Workshop's new product: Soft Light Badge.

The entire article emphasized how this tiny badge could instantly give anyone beauty comparable to a Veela.

Wait a second… Aslan's Magic Workshop?

Michael immediately grabbed Wade's arm. "Wade, don't tell me this is your invention too?"

Wade nodded and asked, "Why are you so excited? It's a product aimed at women."

"Says who!"

Michael dramatically flipped open the magazine and pointed to two wizards used as models in the article.

"See that? The pursuit of beauty knows no gender! I bet there are plenty of boys at school wearing these badges too!"

I thought so! That's why Malfoy looked even more polished than usual today.

Malfoy always looked good, so the difference wasn't that obvious. But some people had changed so much, it was as if they'd swapped faces.

"Well... boys are wearing them too, so what?" Wade shifted to the side and asked.

"You definitely have some on hand, don't you?" Michael said eagerly. "Sell me one! I need it this afternoon!"

"You don't have to pay; I can just give you one. But note that it only lasts for a month." Wade pulled out a handful of badges from his bag and handed them to Michael.

As always, Marchionne, the owner of Aslan's Magic Workshop, not only sent him magazines but also a bunch of samples. Wade had stuffed them all in his bag without any intention of using them.

Michael beamed as he took the badges, "Are you sure? I feel bad just taking it."

"They're samples, so I didn't pay for them," Wade replied. "Why do you need something like this? You don't look bad."

"Well..." Michael blinked mischievously, "That's a secret."
