High School DxD: The Man Who Surpasses God

Chapter 17: Bloodbath (Part 3/3)

[THIRD PERSON POV]

Griselda had the vampire twins cornered a few minutes into the fierce clash.

Their once-confident smirks had been replaced with panicked expressions as they sustained severe injuries.

Blood dripped from their wounds, and desperation crept into their movements as they attempted to regroup.

"You Exorcist bitch!"

The first twin screamed in defiance, raising her magic staff high.

"Take this!"

She yelled, unleashing a torrent of lightning magic in a wide arc.

The dazzling bolts crackled through the air, aimed directly at Griselda.

With remarkable agility, Griselda sidestepped the attacks, her golden armor glinting with the reflected light.

The few bolts she couldn't dodge she deflected effortlessly with her Excalibur Destruction.

Sparks flew with each clash of steel and magic, illuminating her unwavering determination.

Before the first twin could cast another spell, Griselda appeared before her in a blur of speed, her blade already mid-swing.

The twin managed to conjure a magic circle just in time, but Griselda pressed forward relentlessly.

Her holy energy overwhelmed the barrier, shattering it in an explosion of light.

Her sword struck true, slicing through the twin's arm in a clean cut.

"AHH!"

The first twin screamed in agony, clutching the stump where her arm had been.

"SISTER!"

The other twin, horrified, abandoned her defensive stance to catch her sister before she hit the ground.

Griselda landed gracefully a few feet away, her eyes cold and focused as she observed the wounded vampires.

Behind her, the human captives erupted into cheers, and Belladonna, still recovering, smirked faintly at the sight of the twins' defeat.

The first twin, gritting her teeth in rage, glared at Griselda.

"You think this is over?!"

She spat, her voice trembling with pain and fury.

Turning to her sister, she barked.

"Sister! Call the thing!"

The other twin nodded solemnly, her face pale but resolute.

With a flick of her wrist, she summoned a giant magic circle that glowed ominously in the air.

Chanting an incantation, she called forth her most fearsome weapon.

A familiar unlike anything Griselda had ever seen.

From the circle emerged a grotesque, towering monstrosity, a patchwork chimera pieced together from various animals.

Its mismatched body parts seemed to move in eerie, disjointed harmony.

It has a horse-like head with a right deer antler, a left goat horn, a fang and a beard, wings of a bat and a bird stretched from its back, while its body bore a lion's chest, a serpent's tail, and a variety of animal legs.

Its jaws gaped unnaturally as it roared, revealing jagged fangs and glowing, soulless eyes.

Griselda's eyes widened in shock and disgust.

"What in God's name is this monstrosity?"

She muttered, steadying her grip on Excalibur Destruction.

The first twin, though weakened, managed a twisted grin as she healed the stump of her arm with her remaining magic.

"This little guy?"

She said with malicious glee.

"This is my sister's little pet project. Of course, I helped gather materials. Mostly from Stray Devils."

The second twin added, her voice calm but chilling.

"And now, it's dinner time."

The chimera let out a bone-shaking roar, its massive frame towering over Griselda and the battlefield.

Undeterred, Griselda raised her sword and assumed a battle stance, her resolve as firm as the steel in her hands.

"Very well then."

She said, narrowing her eyes at the monstrosity.

"Come, then. Let's see how this abomination fares against God's light."

Griselda swung her blade with precision, its holy aura clashing against the chimera's monstrous claws.

Each collision sent shockwaves through the catacombs, shaking loose debris from the ancient ceiling and causing cracks to spider across the walls.

The chimera roared, its patchwork body pulsating with unnatural energy as it lashed out with relentless fury.

As their battle raged on, the chimera reared back and unleashed a torrent of fire from its twisted maw.

Griselda sidestepped the blazing inferno with agility, retaliating with a powerful slash of her sword.

The blade's energy coalesced into a projectile, slamming into the creature's grotesque face.

The chimera shrieked, its roar echoing through the vast chamber as dark ichor dripped from the wound.

Enraged by the attack, the chimera began flying around the catacombs at dizzying speeds, its mismatched wings creating powerful gusts of wind.

It fired razor-sharp blue feathers from its body, each one whistling through the air like a deadly throwing knife.

Griselda gritted her teeth, using her sword to deflect some of the projectiles and dodging others with a series of quick movements.

However, a few found their mark—a feather pierced her shoulder, and another lodged in her thigh.

"Ah! Damn it."

She hissed in pain but pressed on, determined not to falter.

Meanwhile, the vampire twins, sensing an opportunity, began preparing a sneak attack.

Lightning crackled in the air as they conjured a potent spell from behind Griselda, their laughter filled with malice.

Before they could release their attack, however, a feral howl echoed through the catacombs.

Belladonna, now fully recovered, charged at the twins with renewed vigor.

"Don't forget about me!"

The soundwave of her howl sent the sisters flying into a nearby pillar, cracking the stone upon impact.

The first twin snarled in frustration, her blood-red eyes glowing with rage.

"You damn mutt!"

She spat, drawing her revolver.

Her sister joined her, and the pair aimed their weapons at Belladonna.

But this time, Belladonna was ready.

With a quick, powerful motion, she hurled two rocks with incredible speed and precision.

The makeshift projectiles struck the twins' revolvers, disarming them and sending the weapons clattering across the stone floor.

The second twin frowned, her calm demeanor giving way to irritation.

She summoned multiple crimson magic circles, each crackling with electricity, and launched a barrage of lightning bolts at Belladonna.

The werewolf darted through the spellstorm with incredible speed, weaving between the attacks until she was face-to-face with the first twin.

With a brutal knee to the stomach, Belladonna struck the first twin, who let out a gasp of pain before collapsing to the ground.

Blood dribbled from her mouth as she lay motionless, her strength depleted.

"Sister!"

The second twin screamed in anguish, her voice filled with fury.

Her eyes locked onto Belladonna, now blazing with unrestrained hatred

"You'll pay for this!"

She yelled, raising her hands to call her familiar.

The chimera, hearing its master's command, roared and abandoned its battle with Griselda, swooping down toward the twin.

Its massive frame moved with terrifying speed, forcing Griselda to give chase.

"You're not getting away that easily!"

Griselda growled, her injuries forgotten in the heat of battle.

She sprinted after the chimera, her sword glowing with holy power as she prepared to finish the fight.

The chimera lunged at Belladonna, its grotesque head aiming to strike her with a brutal headbutt.

"Shit!"

Belladonna braced herself, her claws glowing faintly as she blocked the attack.

The impact was immense, sending her flying into a pile of jagged rocks.

She winced in pain but quickly pushed herself back to her feet, her defiance unshaken.

The chimera roared once more, circling protectively around the second twin, who was now supporting her injured sister.

Its mismatched body moved like a macabre guardian, shielding the twins from any potential attacks.

Griselda appeared beside Belladonna, extending a hand to help her up.

"Can you still fight?"

Griselda asked, concern flickering in her eyes.

Belladonna grinned, her determination burning bright despite her injuries.

"Of course I can."

Griselda nodded approvingly, reaching for her cloak to offer it to the now-clothesless Belladonna.

But Belladonna shook her head.

"No thanks. I'm fine like this."

"Suit yourself."

Griselda replied with a smirk, focusing her attention on the twins and their monstrous familiar.

The second twin, despite her injuries, summoned a swarm of red magic circles, each one crackling with ominous energy and aimed directly at the duo.

Meanwhile, the chimera began gathering its fiery breath, the glow in its patchwork throat growing brighter with each passing second.

The first twin coughed up blood but managed a mocking laugh, her voice dripping with malice.

"You think your being heroes, but you'll never stop the inevitable!"

"Absalom will rise, and this world will bow before him."

Griselda and Belladonna prepared themselves for the onslaught, their resolve unshaken.

But before either side could make a move, a loud rumble echoed through the catacombs.

One of the massive stone pillars began to crumble, collapsing directly onto the chimera.

The monster let out a pained screech as the pillar crushed it, its patchwork body crumpling under the weight.

"... x4"

The twins, Griselda, and Belladonna stared in stunned silence, unable to process what had just happened.

Their attention shifted to the other side of the room, where Arthur was mid-chase, pursuing Lord Manthar with unrelenting determination.

"Get back here, you fossilized pussy!"

Arthur bellowed, his voice echoing through the cavern as he slammed his weapons into another pillar.

The stone cracked and splintered, sending debris raining down and cutting off Manthar's escape route.

Arthur barely glanced at the destruction he was causing, his focus entirely on his foe.

Griselda and Belladonna exchanged glances, each wearing a look of disbelief at the sheer chaos Arthur was creating.

Finally, Belladonna broke the silence with a shrug.

"Well, that happened."

Griselda smirked, shaking her head.

"I guess that's one way to deal with a monster."

The two turned back toward the vampire twins, whose expressions had shifted from confidence to fear and disbelief.

Griselda raised her sword, and Belladonna flexed her claws, both ready to finish the battle once and for all.

"Let's end this."

Griselda declared, her voice steady and resolute.

Belladonna growled, her predatory grin returning.

"Right."

Griselda and Belladonna charged toward the twins with unrelenting force, their movements coordinated and precise.

Belladonna faced the first twin, who, despite her injuries, fought with ferocity. Her claws lashed out in desperation, and bolts of lightning sparked from her trembling hands.

But Belladonna's speed and raw power were unmatched.

The battle raged on, the first twin growing weaker with every failed attack.

Desperation flared in her eyes as she summoned the last vestiges of her magic to cast a lightning spell.

But before she could unleash it, Belladonna surged forward, her claws glowing faintly with red energy.

She grabbed the twin's staff mid-incantation and snapped it in half, the broken pieces clattering to the ground.

The twin hissed in fury, lunging at Belladonna with her claws.

"Die!"

But Belladonna was quicker, catching the vampire by the throat and lifting her off the ground effortlessly.

The twin struggled, her feet kicking helplessly in the air as Belladonna's grip tightened.

*Choking*

The other twin, pinned beneath Griselda's blade, screamed in terror.

Tears streamed down her face as she pleaded.

"No! Please, let her go! She's all I have left!"

Belladonna's yellow eyes glowed with cold fury as she glared at the pinned twin.

Her voice was calm yet filled with venom.

"This is for shooting me... and for aiming at that kid."

With a swift and brutal motion, Belladonna snapped the first twin's neck.

The lifeless body slumped in her grasp before she let it drop to the ground.

*Thud*

The second twin's scream echoed through the catacombs, filled with horror and grief.

"SISTER!"

She thrashed beneath Griselda's sword, tears streaming down her face.

"You monsters-!"

Griselda silenced her with a swift, calculated stroke of her blade.

The vampire's head rolled to the side as Griselda stood, her expression cold and resolute.

"Speak for yourself, you hypocrite."

She muttered, cleaning her sword on the vampire's tattered robes.

Belladonna exhaled heavily, shaking her head to clear the adrenaline coursing through her veins.

She looked down at the lifeless twins, her expression unreadable.

Griselda walked over, placing a steadying hand on Belladonna's shoulder.

"It's over."

She said firmly, though her gaze was already shifting toward the ongoing battle between Arthur and Lord Manthar in the distance.

Belladonna nodded, her claws retracting as she wiped the blood from her hands.

The battlefield was a haunting sight, littered with the corpses of fallen vampires and the mechanical, efficient T-800 Terminators methodically eliminating the last of the enemies.

The air was thick with the remnants of battle, smoke rising from shattered pillars and scorched ground.

Belladonna and Griselda stood side by side, their eyes scanning the devastation they had caused.

Belladonna's gaze softened when she saw the human captives slowly begin to emerge from behind a fallen pillar, their faces filled with a mix of relief and disbelief.

Among them was the young boy who had thrown the rocks to defend her.

He cautiously stepped forward, his small voice breaking the silence.

"I-Is it over?"

Belladonna gave him a reassuring smile, though it was tinged with exhaustion.

"Don't worry. It will be soon enough."

Griselda, ever the pragmatic one, glanced at Belladonna, her sharp gaze calculating as she spoke.

"You should guide them back and get them to safety. Afterwards, stay with them just in case."

Belladonna nodded, ready to carry out the task.

But before she could move, something white was tossed in her direction.

She caught it, only to realize it was Griselda's cloak.

"Put something on for God's sake. There are children here."

Griselda said, her tone light but with a touch of exasperation.

Belladonna blushed, feeling suddenly self-conscious about her state.

She grumbled, though there was a playful edge to her voice.

"You're one to talk, walking around with that so-called armor on."

Griselda gave her a pointed look.

"I'm fully clothed. You, however, are a different story."

She said with a smirk.

With a sigh, Belladonna wrapped herself in the cloak, feeling much more modest and a bit more comfortable.

As she adjusted it, she glanced over at Griselda, noticing the determination in her eyes.

"What about you? What will you do?"

Belladonna asked, tying the cloak around her waist.

Griselda turned her back, already heading toward the distant battlefield where Arthur and Manthar were locked in their battle.

"I'm going to give Arthur a hand. Its time to end this... once and for all."

She said with quiet resolve.

Belladonna gave a small nod, understanding what needed to be done.

"Alright, I'll see you after."

She said, a rare softness in her voice.

As the two parted ways, Belladonna moved toward the frightened group of humans, her steps purposeful.

The adults followed her, but children stared at her with a mixture of awe and fear, but she gave them a reassuring smile, trying to ease their worries.

"Come on. Let's get you out of here."

She said gently.

Meanwhile, Griselda made her way toward Arthur's last known location, her sword still in hand and determination set in her posture.

It was almost over... but why does everything happening feel odd?

She could feel something is amiss, but she doesn't know what it is.

The heavy weight of something sinister is approaching.

"I hope things will be alright."
