How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

59. Looks Like Something's on Your Leg

After finishing lunch in the school cafeteria, Ling Ning headed off to the café. Just as she left the school gate, she ran into Ye Xuan, who was also on her way there, and they naturally walked together.

Ling Ning couldn’t help but feel curious. The teachers at her school seemed well-paid, and Ye Xuan didn’t appear to be someone who needed extra income. So why did she work as a café maid? Ling Ning held back her questions, knowing it was a personal matter.

When they arrived, Chu Mengyao, the manager, welcomed them enthusiastically. She and Zhou Xiaoxiao were swamped, and even Luo Xiaoning and her younger brother, Chu Feng, had been pulled in to help.

After putting on her maid uniform, which she hadn’t worn in a while, Ling Ning felt a strange sense of familiarity. Just as she was about to head out to start working, Ye Xuan called her over.

“Ling Ning, wait a moment! There seems to be something on your leg.”

Ling Ning glanced down, but she couldn’t see anything unusual.

“It’s in a spot you can’t see. Let me handle it.”

Before Ling Ning could respond, Ye Xuan knelt down behind her, lightly brushing her hand along Ling Ning’s black-stockinged thigh.

Ling Ning felt puzzled—why was Ye Xuan touching her leg if there was something on it? But Ye Xuan’s focused expression left her speechless.

As Ye Xuan’s hand continued its path up her leg, Ling Ning felt a strange, unfamiliar sensation, and her face flushed. She couldn’t help but notice that Ye Xuan’s hand was gradually moving higher, leaving her completely at a loss.

A subtle tension began to build between them.

“Are you done changing yet? We’re drowning out here!” Chu Mengyao’s loud voice broke the moment, and Ling Ning snapped back to reality, stammering, “Uh… are you… done?”

“Yes, all set,” Ye Xuan replied, showing her a tiny piece of paper in her hand—something she’d prepared in advance as an excuse.

Relieved, Ling Ning watched Ye Xuan stand up, feeling grateful the moment had ended. That feeling had been… too strange. It was something she’d only ever experienced vaguely in her dreams, and if it had continued, she feared she might have reacted out loud.

“I-I’ll head out now,” she said, practically fleeing the dressing room.

Watching her go, Ye Xuan’s face showed a hint of regret. Based on Ling Ning’s reaction and her study materials, it seemed Ling Ning’s legs were quite sensitive…

Ye Xuan’s lips curved into a seductive smile as she licked her lips, recalling the sensation.

“Why’s your face so red?” Chu Mengyao asked, puzzled by Ling Ning’s flushed cheeks.

“It’s… it’s nothing.”

“Alright, go help Xia You. She’s struggling.”

So that’s why Xia You hadn’t been around—she’d been here the whole time.

With Ling Ning and Ye Xuan joining in, the chaos in the café soon settled down, allowing Chu Mengyao to finally relax.

Since the café had introduced new maid uniforms, customer numbers had been steadily rising. Chu Mengyao was now considering hiring a few full-time maids. After all, school would start soon, and with Zhou Xiaoxiao leaving, only she and her brother would be left.

“Ling Ning! Finally, you’re here. You have no idea—since you left, Chu Mengyao’s been making me do everything! I haven’t even had time to watch anime all week!” Luo Xiaoning complained as soon as she could sneak away from Chu Mengyao to vent.

Ling Ning wanted to warn her that Chu Mengyao was right behind her, but Chu Mengyao’s piercing gaze silenced her. Although Luo Xiaoning was the café owner, Chu Mengyao clearly ran the place, so Ling Ning wisely chose to stay quiet.

“I’m the boss! Why am I doing all this work? This isn’t right!” Luo Xiaoning fumed. “As the owner, I can’t let a mere employee control me. I’m going to reclaim my power from Chu Mengyao!”

“Oh? Who are you planning to overthrow?”

“That Chu person!”

It took a moment for Luo Xiaoning to realize what she’d said.

“Come with me to the dressing room for a ‘thought re-education session.’ It seems you’ve been slacking,” Chu Mengyao said sweetly, dragging Luo Xiaoning by the ear. Her yelps from inside the dressing room sent chills through everyone outside.

“Phew~”

Ling Ning sank into a chair, feeling like she never wanted to get up again. She’d been on her feet all day, barely able to sit down, and her legs didn’t even feel like hers anymore.

Rubbing her sore thighs, she suddenly remembered something and turned to Chu Mengyao. “Mengyao, how much would it cost to rent a place around here?”

“A place to rent? I’m not sure…” Chu Mengyao paused, then glanced over at Zhou Xiaoxiao. “But we have an expert here. Why not ask her?”

“An expert?”

Chu Mengyao pointed to Zhou Xiaoxiao, who was sprawled over the counter, half-dead from exhaustion.

“How big of a place do you need?” Zhou Xiaoxiao asked weakly. After a full day of work, she felt completely drained.

Ling Ning thought for a moment and replied, “Just big enough for me and my dau—ah, I mean, my sister.”

Her current place was fine size-wise, enough for her and Ling Ye, but the lack of an elevator was a pain. Going out felt like climbing down a mountain, and returning home felt like scaling one.

“Let me think…”

Zhou Xiaoxiao frowned as she mentally sifted through the properties she knew. With hundreds of houses in her family, she had to filter through a lot.

“Any specific location in mind?” she asked.

“Near Ye Ye’s school would be ideal,” Ling Ning replied after thinking it over.

“With that in mind, I can think of five places. Three should be affordable—when would you like to see them?”

“Next week should be fine.” Ling Ning had been about to say tomorrow, but she’d gotten a call from Qin Qing earlier saying there was a job lined up, so she decided to postpone the house hunt.
