How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

60. A Big Surprise

“Yawn~”

Ling Ning was on her way to Qin Qing’s house. Qin Qing had called the day before, saying there was a job lined up for today, but hadn’t mentioned the time. So, Ling Ning had gotten up extra early—when it came to making money, she wanted to be as proactive as possible.

She’d considered bringing her daughter along, but Ling Ye had just muttered, “Si Rou went back to her hometown,” and promptly turned over to continue her deep slumber.

“Yawn… so sleepy.”

This was her fourteenth yawn since leaving the house. She’d gone to bed fairly early last night, but felt as if she’d pulled an all-nighter. Thankfully, Qin Qing’s place wasn’t far; otherwise, Ling Ning worried she might fall asleep on her feet.

“Ding-dong~”

After pressing the doorbell, she leaned against the wall to rest her eyes, almost dozing off until Qin Qing, looking just as drowsy, finally opened the door. From her messy hair and wrinkled nightgown, it was clear Qin Qing had just woken up.

“Why… yawn… why so early?” Qin Qing asked, glancing at Ling Ning, then at the clock.

“You… yawn… didn’t tell me what time to come, so I thought I’d come early,” Ling Ning replied matter-of-factly.

Qin Qing froze for a moment before remembering she’d indeed forgotten to mention a time when she’d called Ling Ning.

“Oh, my bad.” Scratching her head awkwardly, Qin Qing added, “Come in. It’s still early. We can probably sleep for another hour or so…”

Before she could finish, Ling Ning had already made herself comfortable on the sofa, drifting off instantly.

Qin Qing shook her head with a helpless smile, then slid onto the sofa beside Ling Ning, pulling her into an embrace and draping her legs over Ling Ning’s waist, finally feeling comfortable enough to fall back asleep.

Luckily, Qin Qing’s sofa was large, and the two of them were small enough to fit. If it were two big guys, one of them would definitely end up on the floor.

The scent of Ling Ning’s hair and the softness of her body soon lulled Qin Qing into a deep sleep.

He Miaomiao, an editor for a prominent fashion magazine, had scheduled an interview with Qin Qing, her college friend and the former lead designer for Miracle Nikki. She also planned to photograph Qin Qing’s latest creations for the magazine.

Initially, she’d intended to bring along a top model, but her friend insisted she’d already chosen someone. This made He Miaomiao incredibly curious.

Her friend was known to be extremely picky—perhaps even overly so—when it came to models. That she’d handpicked someone in advance was a rarity, and He Miaomiao was dying to find out who this chosen model was.

Arriving at the parking lot beneath Qin Qing’s building, He Miaomiao checked her phone, then lit a slim cigarette, deciding to finish it before heading up. Her boss had been intensely curious about Qin Qing’s sudden resignation and divorce, and had asked He Miaomiao to try and dig up some details. Not that it would likely work—He Miaomiao had already tried several times, but Qin Qing had always evaded the questions.

After finishing her cigarette, He Miaomiao popped a couple of mints in her mouth—her friend hated the smell of smoke and would kick her out if she noticed.

“Ding-dong~”

He Miaomiao pressed the doorbell and waited… for nearly ten minutes with no response. She rang it a few more times, but there was still no answer.

“You’re forcing my hand here!”

After taking a deep breath to prepare her “lion’s roar” technique, she suddenly remembered she still had a spare key from the last time she’d housesat for Qin Qing.

Digging through her bag, she found it and unlocked the door. She stepped inside, only to freeze in shock at the sight on the sofa.

The two of them were tangled together, with Ling Ning’s skirt slightly hiked up, revealing her cute bear-print underwear. Qin Qing’s situation was similar, with one crucial difference—she wasn’t wearing any underwear at all.

“What… am I seeing!” He Miaomiao muttered, gaping at the scene before her. Could this be the real reason for her friend’s divorce? This was exciting!

“No, no! I must’ve come in at the wrong angle,” she told herself, backing out of the room, closing the door, and then re-entering with a different approach. But everything was exactly the same.

“Mm~”

The noise must’ve disturbed Qin Qing, who opened her eyes to see He Miaomiao staring, slack-jawed.

“Hey there, Miaomiao,” Qin Qing greeted her with a lazy smile.

“Could you… check the time first?”

“Oh.” Qin Qing looked at the clock, realizing they’d overslept by more than an hour. They were supposed to nap for just an hour, but it was already two hours past. It was Ling Ning’s fault—cuddling with her had been so comfortable that Qin Qing had slept through the alarm.

“Have a seat. I’ll go freshen up,” Qin Qing said with a stretch. She then took a blanket from her room, draping it over Ling Ning, and whispered to He Miaomiao, “Let’s go to my room. Don’t wake her up.”

He Miaomiao watched Qin Qing in a daze. This wasn’t the Qin Qing she knew—her friend had become a soft and nurturing “wife.” Part of her wanted to call her out for this “betrayal.” After all, when He Miaomiao had stayed over, Qin Qing would practically sit on her and never offer a blanket.

Curious, He Miaomiao stole a glance at Ling Ning. Could this be the model Qin Qing had chosen? Her appearance and figure were indeed impressive, though a bit youthful.

“Well, if Qin Qing’s happy, it doesn’t matter if the model’s even a little… different.” She shrugged, amused.
