"Stay away from her. Let's take out those two first," Wally instructed, passing Barry the plan. Barry nodded, eyes narrowing as he scanned the hulking figure. Wally, meanwhile, shifted his focus toward the green-skinned man.
The tension held for a heartbeat, then the battle exploded into motion. Wally locked onto his target—the Green. Charging up lightning in his hands, he hurled it at his foe. Barry sprang into action a moment later, surging forward and launching a bolt of lightning at the hulking figure.
The two villains were slow to react, but Charna's passive absorption ability immediately interfered. The lethal electric charge Wally sent at the plant man lost half its potency, the remaining force only managing to scorch his skin. Barry's target fared little better, taking a glancing hit that pushed him back a few feet with minimal damage.
Wally had anticipated this. His lightning was a distraction. As planned, he immediately shifted focus to Pietro. The strike on the plant man had weakened his grip on the speedster, giving Wally the opening he needed.
With a blur of speed, Wally swooped in and pulled Pietro away. As they cleared some distance, Wally noticed a heavy drain on his Speed Force energy. He quickly drew more from his cells, returning to full power, though at the cost of stamina.
Pietro looked drained, his face slick with sweat beneath his mask.
"Stay still," Wally commanded, placing his hands on Pietro's chest. Lightning crackled from his fingers, surging into Pietro's body.
"It stings," Pietro muttered, wincing as he glanced at Wally warily.
Wally met his gaze, his expression a mix of frustration and something else. "I don't know whether to call you an idiot or a fool," he began, voice tight. "No prior training, no backup plan, and you're out here playing hero. You just got your powers, and you're already in way over your head."
Pietro's eyes flickered with defiance, but Wally pressed on. "But I'll give you this: you've got guts. I admire your courage. It's still stupid, though. Rationality should always come first."
After offering his warning, Wally turned back to face the criminals. Barry was struggling. The two villains kept close to Charna, using her energy-absorbing abilities as a shield.
Barry's speed was already starting to falter, his movements growing slower with each passing second. Keeping up with their attacks was becoming increasingly difficult.
"Kid, get the police and any civilians away from here," Wally called out. "Those who are injured—get them to safety."
In a blur of silver lightning, Pietro moved swiftly, guiding civilians and the injured away from the scene and toward nearby medical facilities.
With the distractions cleared, Wally zeroed in on the task at hand. He cast a final glance at Charna, then solidified his decision.
Uncertain of the limits of her energy absorption, or how quickly she could take it in, Wally decided the best course of action was to overwhelm her by flooding himself with energy at a rate faster than she could handle.
As for the other two, they were a simpler problem. Barry caught Wally's eye, and the two exchanged a quick nod. In an instant, Barry pulled away, trusting Wally had made a good judgment and provided a solution to their problem.
Gripping his hand tightly, Wally immediately tapped into the Speed Force through his connection. Blue lightning crackled around him like he was at the eye of a storm. His eyes snapped open as the power surged through him.
He could feel his cells vibrating faster and faster, surging with Speed Force energy. The intensity was thrilling, but he forced himself to stay focused. Drawing too much energy could cause him to explode into a billion pieces.
The energy radiating from him was like a beacon, instantly drawing Charna's attention. She turned, eyes narrowing as she raised her hands, trying to absorb the power pouring off him. The plant man and hulking brute instinctively moved behind her, using her as a shield while they regrouped.
Wally smirked. Perfect.
In a flash, he launched himself forward, a streak of blue lightning tearing through the air as he accelerated past Mach 10. It lasted only a fraction of a second. Charna braced herself, knowing she couldn't dodge; she could only try to absorb the storm of energy he unleashed. Her body began to glow faintly, veins illuminated as her absorption ability strained under the onslaught.
So you can be overloaded after all, Wally thought as he noticed her faltering. Without hesitation, he shifted gears, channeling all the Speed Force energy he'd gathered into a single concentrated burst aimed directly at her.
The result was immediate. Charna's absorption field flickered and surged erratically, her powers unable to handle the overwhelming influx.
She screamed, her body convulsing as she tried to absorb energy exceeding billions of joules. It was too much. Any further attempt to contain it would lead to a fatal overload.
"Arghhh!" she cried, forcing the energy outward in a desperate release. A thunderous explosion followed.
The blast sent shockwaves rippling outward, knocking the plant man and the brute off their feet.
Charna, unable to expel all the energy in time—or perhaps from sheer exhaustion—collapsed to the ground. She was barely breathing, alive but too weak to move.
The remaining two of her group scrambled to their feet, preparing to fight.
"Stand down now, lest I might resort to extreme measures," Wally warned, his voice cold and commanding. He didn't need to feign authority; his crackling blue aura and the devastation he had just unleashed spoke for him.
On the other hand, his body still sparked with electricity. His muscles screamed in defiance, but he pressed on, his regeneration already kicking in.
The two remaining villains hesitated, their confidence clearly shaken. The hulking brute clenched his fists, his massive frame trembling as he glared at Wally. The plant man, however, seemed less eager to continue the fight.
His green, bark-like skin was scorched and cracking in places, leaking sap-like fluid that looked disturbingly like blood.
Yet they knew that if they surrendered, with the amount of casualties and blood on their hands, it wouldn't be much to be sentenced to death. Wally clearly caught their hesitation, reading their micro expressions. He quickly came to a conclusion: they wouldn't give up without a fight. In an instant, he moved, vanishing in a blur.
Wally's open-palm strike landed squarely on the brute's chest, transferring the full force of his momentum into the hit. The sheer impact created a shockwave that rippled outward, sending the hulking figure into the air for several meters before crashing harshly into a building, incapacitated. It wasn't just a physical attack; a surge of electricity had followed, but luckily, the area had been evacuated.
The brute grunted in pain, clutching his chest, unable to regain his footing. His body spasmed before his consciousness slipped away.
Barry, meanwhile, had caught the plant man off guard, quickly closing the gap and snapping a pair of meta-dampening cuffs onto his wrists. The green-skinned villain hissed in frustration, his plant-like tendrils wilting as his abilities were suppressed.
"Got him," Barry called out, dragging the subdued plant man away from the fight. "How are you holding up?"
"I could do better," Wally replied, sitting on the ground, his gaze falling on Charna. He had figured out her identity with the help of Alfred, and it was confirmed that she was indeed a Flashpoint meta.
"Rest here. I'll take them to Iron Heights," Barry said, grabbing tightly onto the green meta. Wally, however, was about to refute Barry's attempt to take Charna to Iron Heights. They might be unable to hold her; the full scope of her power was still unknown. Even though he had noticed she could only focus on either energy absorption or energy projection one at a time, she might develop new methods out of desperation, just like how he had learned to forcefully ignore the effects of meta-dampeners.
Suddenly, several black SUVs pulled up, followed by several containers. Barry and Wally immediately stood on guard, but when they saw the trucks labeled A.R.G.U.S., their tension calmed.
The SUVs hastily came to a halt, their tires screeching. The first figure they saw was Lyla, dressed in her usual professional attire.
"Stand down, Flash and Phantom. We'll take it from here. Iron Heights' meta wing might not be able to handle some of these individuals," she said as she advanced with her team.
Wally sighed in relief. Thankfully, he hadn't missed the chance to collect several blood samples from Charna and her two accomplices. Three test tubes full of Charna's blood, along with another two containing samples from both the green and hulking metas, were securely in his possession.
All this was thanks to Alfred, who could now transport and receive materials from anywhere as long as he knew the coordinates.
The two shrugged at her interference; it was for the best anyway. The woman was a pain to deal with. Barry and Wally oversaw the operation, watching from a distance as the team of agents apprehended the villains.
In just a few minutes, every one of them was taken into A.R.G.U.S. custody. Some of them might not remain there if their threat level wasn't deemed too high.
As Lyla was about to enter her SUV along with her agents, she suddenly noticed a figure approaching.
"Ms. Michaels, can I have a word or two with you?
