Chapter 437: 437 One Assassination Attempt After Another, Victor Von Doom, Spider Gwen and Spinneret vs The Green Goblin and The Inheritors of Reality.

The news channel's ratings skyrocketed as it was the first time Allen had been seen since his return.

The people of this world already knew him well, you could fear him or love him, you could hate him or respect him, but he was simply impossible to ignore. Yet he looked different than he did when he left.

Physically, he does not change much as they are essentially the same person, his hair is black as if absorbing light, and his scarlet eyes but not as the classic bright-eyed vampire but a darker scarlet, discreet and elegant as wine, his skin is slightly paler, but without much noticeable or seem sickly, has a dangerous aura and occasionally turns black although this aura can be interpreted as charm by women. His most noticeable change is in his attitude towards situations and his way of acting, but this is something that is not noticeable to the naked eye.

Allen looked away from the helicopter and saw the horizon, "I'm sure Jonah Jameson will make me a nice headline for tomorrow. Heh..."

Shortly after, sirens blared as emergency services arrived. It had taken Allen less than a minute to defeat Rhino, so the rapid response was impressive.

Allen grabbed Rhino by the leg and began walking toward the security barrier where officers had cordoned off the area. Along the way, paramedics entered several buildings to assist people injured by the shattered glass caused by the earlier commotion.

The officer in charge remained calm despite the events, waiting for Allen to approach. Allen was unconcerned about encountering Captain Stacy—after all, there were about thirty thousand sworn officers in the city. (The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is the largest municipal police force in the United States.)

Just as Allen was about to hand over Rhino, a patrol car exploded behind the officer. Three black, unmarked armored vehicles rammed through the barricades, accompanied by a large truck bringing up the rear.

Allen felt a strange sensation as he watched the vehicles approach.

2B – Master, no signs of organic life were detected in these vehicles.

"Oh... not that it really matters..."

The first armored vehicle attempted to ram into Allen. He grabbed the officer in front of him and pulled him aside then he smirked as the car split in half before reaching him. Using his kinetic vision, Allen clearly saw the interior of the car; inside the vehicle was a humanoid figure made of metal and circuitry; it was a robot.

"Robots..." Allen murmured.

The rest of the convoy passed him, apparently using the first vehicle as a distraction. These vehicles stopped, and a big truck opened its side to reveal a cannon. The weapon charged and fired a concentrated energy beam.

Allen extended his arms to take the blast, knowing full well these machines had come to kill him—or at least try.

Lenalee materialized in Allen's left hand, and he launched a projection that sliced the cannon in half. Four drones appeared around him, but Allen moved at a speed too fast for the cameras to capture, cutting them down in an instant.

*Auge*

The drones exploded but Allen emerged unscathed.

"What's going on?" Allen muttered. "Why would I be attacked like this right after returning to this world? Has something changed in my absence?"

Two humanoid robots emerged from the remaining armored vehicles, their arms equipped with cannons. Allen prepared to destroy them, but four mechanical spiders emerged from the ground, deploying a force field.

Allen's irritation grew. "It's fine if you want to kill me, but don't insult me."

With a wave of his hand, Allen shattered the force field effortlessly. The humanoid robots fired, causing continuous explosions. Allen walked through the attacks without bothering to dodge.

If his opponents had been human, they would have fled long ago. But these robots continued their assault as if trying to gather data. Allen reached one of the robots, enduring point-blank explosive shots. The robot's AI showed incomprehensible measurement data.

– Target's resistance... invalid. All responses... invalid. Prioritizing maximum data retrieval... ERROR ERROR ERROR... –

"Time's up..."

Amid the flames, Allen's hand gripped the robot's head, ripping it off before throwing it at the other robot, destroying it as well.

[Allen, each robot contains an unstable antimatter battery. If it explodes, half of Manhattan will be destroyed.]

Allen buried his hand in the robot's chest, pulling out a blinking red device. He teleported to the other robot and repeated the process.

[I'll handle it!]

"Not necessary..."

Allen closed his hands compressing the small antimatter batteries between his hands. Soon, a bright light seeped through his fingers before fading completely.

"Antimatter annihilates on contact with matter, leaving no toxic waste or radiation behind."

Rebecca – Of all the ways to dispose of those batteries, you chose the most... Haha.

"I saw Clark do it once, haha"

The news helicopter captured the entire scene.

In an utterly senseless act, someone had attacked Allen. In the process, several patrol cars were destroyed, and many police officers were severely injured.

No one watching the news was surprised by the outcome, but that wasn't the issue. "Allen Walker was attacked." Unlike Rhino, who was encountered by chance, someone had deliberately targeted Allen.

This single fact sparked countless questions: Who? And why?

Allen, meanwhile, surveyed the chaos before deciding to leave. Others would take care of Rhino and clean up the mess. For now, he wanted to find Gwen and MJ, as the system had indicated they weren't home.

...

...

...

Elsewhere in New York, far from the chaos, a young man held a phone with interest and a hint of desire. However, his eyes remained calm, devoid of greed.

"All that power... if it were in my hands, imagine what I could do..."

His desire was clear, but who wouldn't want Allen's power?

"Mr. Victor, pay attention."

Standing at the front of a classroom, a middle-aged teacher scolded the young man, who was too focused on his phone to notice.

Victor stood up, his relaxed expression unchanged. "I apologize, professor."

"Good grades don't exempt you from maintaining discipline."

Despite his words, the other students knew the professor was lenient with Victor, only addressing his behavior when it became too obvious.

"It won't happen again," Victor replied.

A blonde girl sitting next to him looked at him disapprovingly. "What are you doing, Victor? Are you trying to get in trouble?" she whispered.

Victor shrugged. "I was just curious to see the conditions under which the King returned, Susan"

Hearing Victor's words, Susan immediately checked her phone, seeing social media flooded with the same news. She drew a sharp breath as she read the headlines.

– Allen Walker returns.

– Allen Walker defeats the new supervillain.

– Allen Walker survives an assassination attempt.

Victor gave Susan a mysterious, unreadable look before standing and leaving the class. The professor said nothing. Susan took a few seconds to notice, absorbed in the news.

"Hm? Victor?"

Outside the building, Victor observed the campus filled with students going about their day.

"If someone asked me what I'd be willing to sacrifice for power, what would I say?"

Victor's gaze darkened as leaves fell slowly around him. Then, after a moment, he began walking, an aura of mystery surrounding him.

Victor discreetly threw a small device into the trash as he walked by; seconds later, it burned; if you told anyone, they wouldn't believe it, but those robots that attacked Allen belonged to Victor... to Victor Von Doom.

...

Gwen's life hadn't been as simple as it might seem. She had split her time between studying and fighting crime, a choice she made with Allen's full support.

Swinging through the city in her Spider-Gwen suit, she launched her web toward a nearby building. Her suit, a blend of spandex and other materials, allowed for great agility. It featured white, black, and pink colors with web patterns and an integrated hood.

"Wait!"

A nervous, breathless voice called out behind Gwen. It belonged to a girl wearing a suit similar to Spider-Gwen's, but predominantly red.

Gwen smiled under her mask as she glanced back. "MJ, I already told you—if this isn't your thing, you don't have to come with me~"

MJ looked offended, "I'm just out of practice, that's all! And stop calling me MJ—what if someone hears it?!"

"Sorry, Spinneret~" Gwen chuckled. For Gwen, like her father, justice was a natural part of her life. While she didn't impose her ideals on others, be it Allen, MJ, or even Felicia, she transformed entirely when she donned her suit, becoming Spider-Gwen, the superhero.

Both girls knew Allen was returning today and were waiting for him. However, an incident at an Oscorp facility had drawn their attention. Reports mentioned a "green demon" flying in the area, which was more than just a police matter... it was superhero territory.

Gwen suited up and asked MJ to stay behind and welcome Allen, but the red-haired girl insisted on coming along.

MJ's abilities were on par with Gwen's, but she ventured out three times less frequently, often only to accompany Gwen. Because of this, MJ wasn't as accustomed to action, making her appear clumsy while swinging through the city.

"Hey, stop using my alias as a joke!"

"Wow, you're so spoiled. I'm not Allen; I'm not going to coddle you..."

"Who's spoiled?!"

Gwen laughed again. Strength was there, but MJ's mentality still needed refining. She had caught criminals like Spinneret, but her experience with supervillains was minimal.

After a minute, smoke filled the air, accompanied by the awful stench of burning flesh. Gwen and MJ's expressions changed, and as they arrived at the building, they saw firefighters below struggling to extinguish the intense flames. The fire was so severe that they couldn't enter the building, so Gwen and MJ exchanged looks and decided to handle it themselves, heading straight to the upper floors.

From below, several people pointed to the sky.

"Look, it's Spider Gwen!"

"And Spider-Girl!"

"Idiot! That's Spinneret! She doesn't like being called Spider-Girl!"

MJ and Gwen smashed through the windows, entering the upper floors. Guided by their spider senses, they quickly located people in danger.

MJ broke open a door leading to an office and found a woman and a young man in lab coats unconscious. She carried them out of the building, returned moments later, and repeated the process.

Due to the thick smoke, visibility was poor, but Gwen left MJ to handle the current floor while she went to the elevator shaft. Using her strength, she pried open the doors and looked up and down to locate the stalled elevators. Both were several floors below, with smoke and fire seeping through the doors.

Locating the trapped people was easy as they were shouting from both elevators. Gwen leaped and landed atop one of the elevators, tearing open its maintenance hatch to look inside.

"Are you okay?"

"We're trapped!"

"I know you! You're a superhero!"

Gwen counted eight people. With the others in the second elevator, there were too many to rescue two at a time through smoke and flames.

Her first option was to pull the elevators upward. Gwen could haul them to the roof, where she could lower everyone to safety.

"Alright!"

"HEH HEH HEH HEH! THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING!"

Gwen's spider-sense kicked in a little too late; the door on the floor next to her exploded, slamming her into a wall.

The explosion also severed the cables holding the elevator.

"No!"

Gwen fired her webbing, catching the elevator. But her worry only grew—the sinister laughter unnerved her.

Another explosion echoed above her, and she watched in horror as the second elevator began to plummet.

"AHHHHH!!"

The passengers' screams were deafening. Gwen transferred the weight of the first elevator to her right hand and used her left to web the falling elevator, slowing its descent to avoid harming the people inside.

"Who are you?!" Gwen gritted her teeth, unnerved by the unnatural explosions.

"HAHAHAHAHA! JUST WATCH AS EVERYTHING FALLS APART!"

Emerging from one of the doors engulfed in flames, a man dressed in green with a terrifying mask and glowing red eyes stepped forward.

"I BUILT ALL OF THIS! AND THEY THREW ME OUT LIKE A DOG. NOW, I'VE RETURNED TO DESTROY WHAT I CREATED!"

The man's voice was filled with rage, frustration, disgust, and an overwhelming hatred.

"I don't know who you're talking about, but there are innocent people in these elevators, Green Demon!" Gwen retorted, undaunted.

"Ha…ha…ha… I know… and I'm no demon. I'm a Goblin!"

The Green Goblin pulled out a pumpkin-shaped bomb with glowing eyes.

"...!"

Gwen's blue eyes narrowed, and her spider-sense went wild. She had to dodge it. Because she was in real danger!

...

(Flashback)

It was one of the nights Allen returned to Marvel after being in Bleach.

With flushed cheeks and heavy breathing, the beautiful blonde lay in bed in her boyfriend's arms after an intense moment of intimacy. She ran her hand along his chest as he held her tightly, refusing to let her go. It made her happy.

"I used to worry that, with so many women, you wouldn't desire me anymore… Now I worry I'll get pregnant before finishing college~"

Allen smiled at her. "I'm sorry, Gwen. I just lose control around you."

"Hehe~ I'm not complaining❤️~"

The two stayed cuddled for a long time, and just when they seemed ready to sleep, Gwen bit her lip, preparing to ask Allen for a difficult favor.

"Allen… I'd like to ask you something..."

Allen listened attentively, his brows furrowing.

"I know it's risky…"

"Gwen, I..."

Gwen trembled, realizing she was putting Allen in a tough position. On the one hand, he rarely denied her anything, but this was a dangerous request.

Gwen wanted to deactivate the automatic mode of her protective pendant.

"I can't..."

" I... I'm a superhero... and it's natural for me to face villains and supervillains. This wonderful gift is both a blessing and a curse... If I'm in danger, it protects me from all harm and even teleports me away from danger. But at the same time, it stops me from confronting villains."

Everything Gwen said was true. If she were saving a bus full of kids and her pendant activated, a tragedy would ensue. But the pendant's purpose was to protect Allen's family when he wasn't around.

Deactivating the automatic function and leaving only the manual one was risky.

Seeing Allen's conflicted look, Gwen regretted asking but still wanted to insist. She climbed atop Allen, her naked body (something that would make most men's noses bleed) unable to change the tense atmosphere.

"Allen, remember that I have spider-sense. For other girls, the risk would be higher, but not for me. I can always rely on it if I sense danger that I am unable to handle."

Allen looked into Gwen's tearful eyes. Her love for him and her strong personality were clashing. If he refused, she'd accept it, but she'd suffer. Conversely, if Gwen felt she'd forced him into this, she'd never forgive herself.

"Kyah!"

Allen sighed, flipping Gwen onto her back as he held her waist. "All right. But if you get hurt, I'll punish you."

Allen has a penchant for spoiling his girlfriends, so the only way to answer without hurting Gwen is to accept with a smile.

After that, their passionate night lasted until dawn. Gwen later bought multiple pregnancy tests to ensure they hadn't started a family prematurely.

(End of Flashback)

---

Gwen gritted her teeth as the Green Goblin prepared to blow her to pieces. She could easily escape using the pendant, but doing so would condemn the elevator passengers to death.

Standing at the door's edge, the Goblin laughed, flames roaring behind him. "Heh heh heh. A spider won't stand in the way of my revenge!"

'He's going to be mad...' Gwen thought with regret but also determination.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY SISTER?!"

Before the Green Goblin could throw his pumpkin bomb, Spinneret punched him, sending him flying into the flames. MJ's fury was palpable—she knew about Gwen's pendant modifications and realized she was in real danger.

"M... Spinneret!" Gwen called out with joy at seeing reinforcements.

MJ assessed the situation, shooting webs to secure the elevators before leaping to the second one. But they underestimated the Green Goblin; he can withstand the blows of a Spiderman without holding back, so from the flames, he appeared seconds after being hit.

"Be careful!"

"YOU!!" The Goblin emerged from the flames, attacking MJ. However, Gwen was now free and tackled him to the floor engulfed in flames, both of them tumbling into the inferno.

"FOOL!"

The Goblin whistled, summoning his glider, which struck Gwen with its sharp edges, hitting her abdomen.

"Damn it!" Gwen was dragged by an airslider while being injured.

"HYHAHAHAH!" The Goblin controlled the glider from his wrist.

"You bastard!" MJ punched him in the face, causing him to lose control. Gwen broke free.

"AARGH!"

The two girls attacked together, overwhelming the Goblin. The whole place was on fire, but the three of them were superhuman, so they could handle it.

Gwen punched his jaw, MJ struck his stomach, Gwen kicked him to his knees, and MJ kneed his chest. They rarely fought as a team, but this time, they coordinated perfectly to pummel the Green Goblin.

"AHHHHGGG!"

The Goblin began to lose consciousness. It was unfortunate for him; if Gwen hadn't had MJ with her today, his chances would have been better.

---

(Sometime in the past)

In an abandoned ship, a German superhero had been left behind against his will. This man had been in chains for a long time. He was weak but still held enough power to be useful to his predator.

"Who's there?! Help me!"

The cries for help fell on deaf ears as the intruder had no intention of aiding him.

With a cold look, the decrepit old man approached the hero and mercilessly bit him, piercing his body and consuming his life.

"AHHHH! IT CAN'T BE!"

The superhero lost all his life and looked like a stuffed mummy, his death was horrible and agonizing.

The old man seemed to rejuvenate by half a century. He looked into the distance.

"At last, I'm free..."

...

(One month later)

Emerging on the deck of a luxury yacht a refined man with dark hair and elegant bearing, the sinister figure gazed skyward.

Soon, someone approached him. "Mr. Morlun, I'm glad to see you well..."

The ominous man, called Morlun, didn't look at Dex, merely giving an order.

"Dex, take me to New York. It's been too long since I devoured a Spider-Man..."
