In The Apocalypse With My Sacred Dimension System

Chapter 25: Zombies!

Theodore, with Geoffrey in tow, walked slowly down the Emergency Stairs still being careful not knowing if there would be anyone there.

Fortunately, the apartment and the Emergency Stairs were separated by a door, so they didn't have to check every floor.

When on the 10th floor Theodore heard a noise from outside the Emergency Stairs, he thought that there might be zombies there.

So Theodore asked Geoffrey to speed up his pace, he didn't want to fight in a cramped place like this.

"We better move quickly. It will be bad if they try to escape through here and endanger us," Theodore said in a low voice.

"Wouldn't it be better if we cleared all the floors now?" Geoffrey felt that they should start cleaning the floors of their apartment while they checked them.

"Our priority right now is to find your sister." Theodore was lazy in dealing with matters like this, he would let the soldiers clean up the zombies when they set up base in this neighborhood.

Geoffrey then could only nod his head and quicken his pace as Theodore had said before.

As they quickly passed floor by floor, when they were on the 3rd floor, the lights on the Emergency Stairs went out and startled them both.

"Damn, looks like the power supply has been cut off," Theodore almost cursed as he realized the situation was getting worse.

"Big brother, what should we do?" Geoffrey quickly held Theodore's left arm for cover.

With their view limited by the absence of light from the lamp, Geoffrey was very afraid of his surroundings.

Fortunately Theodore had prepared beforehand, he quickly took out two flashlights from within his sacred dimension.

"Use these and help me light the way from behind. Don't forget to watch your back too," Theodore said as he handed the flashlights to Geoffrey.

With trembling hands Geoffrey took the flashlight from Theodore and did as Theodore had told him to do.

Seeing how Geoffrey was shaking with fear, Theodore patted him lightly on the shoulder, "Take it easy, everything will be fine."

After that, their journey didn't get any better because as they approached the ground floor, the sound of screams and moans from the zombies grew stronger.

Theodore held the sword in his right hand, already preparing in case anyone ran towards them to escape the zombies' pursuit.

"We're almost at the lobby, tell me where your sister went so we can run straight there," Theodore explained quickly.

"Do you know the fried chicken shop near the intersection of St. Waver Street, well she went there." Geoffrey clearly remembered where Roxanne went.

"Alright, once I open the exit prepare to strike with your baseball bat," Theodore replied by tightening his grip on the sword he was holding.

Fortunately no one was running towards the Emergency Stairs so Theodore quickly stowed his flashlight back into the sacred dimension, taking advantage of the lack of light there so that Geoffrey wouldn't find out his secret.

Then, Theodore held the door knob for a while, once he was ready he turned it and pushed the door open.

The first thing that greeted Theodore was the growling sound of the zombies on the ground floor of their apartment.

For a split second Theodore was quite surprised when he saw the monstrous figures of the zombies again, after almost 6 months he hadn't seen them.

Theodore swiftly raised his sword and slashed the neck of the first zombie that came towards him.

Because Theodore used a sword, he didn't make much noise so it didn't attract the attention of other zombies who didn't see them.

Theodore also pulled Geoffrey's arm to hide behind a table near them, he could see that Geoffrey's face was very pale at the moment.

Then Theodore grabbed both of Geoffrey's shoulders and said, "Geoffrey, look at me!"

It was obvious from Geoffrey's gaze that he was staring at Theodore unfocused, his body trembling.

"I know you must be shocked to see this firsthand. But, you must be able to control your fear in order to survive." Theodore had to make Geoffrey focus if he didn't want him to die in vain at the hands of the zombies.

"B-but... there are many of them... here." Geoffrey's speech faltered as he stared at his already chaotic surroundings.

"Didn't you want to slaughter them, this is your chance. Believe me I will protect you, if anything happens." Theodore said seriously.

Geoffrey looked a little hesitant as he looked at Theodore, he breathed heavily and then exhaled.

Although he was still hesitant, Geoffrey was more confident this time after Theodore calmed him down. Geoffrey then nodded his head to Theodore.

"Good! Now we must slaughter them all before they make trouble for us. Are you ready?" Theodore grinned as he felt energized now.

"Yes, I'm ready!" Geoffrey held his baseball bat with both hands and nodded his head confidently.

Theodore patted the boy lightly on the head before rising to his feet and beginning his massacre.

In the lobby of the apartment it was complete chaos, there were still a few people running for their lives.

Theodore swung his sword to slash the necks of the zombies running towards him. Although Theodore had practiced using the sword, he was still not used to it.

So for some time Theodore had to dodge or kick the zombies that approached him to create some distance before he prepared to attack the zombies again.

"Geof, move towards the exit. We'll stay here if we don't move now," Theodore said in a fairly loud voice.

At first Theodore thought that they could clear out the zombies in the lobby of the apartment, but he was wrong because their numbers were increasing.

So they had to leave immediately, after all their goal this time was not to clean up these zombies.

Geoffrey himself was fighting quite well although it could be seen that his face was getting pale at the moment, it seemed like he was refraining from vomiting at the moment.

"Can you cover my back, big bro?" Geoffrey saw that the exit of this apartment was very chaotic with many people being chased and also fighting with zombies.

"Damn, there are too many people here." Theodore chuckled as he saw that it would be difficult for them to get out of here at the moment.

"Then, what should we do?" Geoffrey gritted his teeth when he had to go back to using his bladed baseball bat to kill the zombies attacking him.

"I have a better idea." Theodore finally thought of doing something to escape from this mess.

After killing the zombies that were blocking him Theodore ran towards the left glass wall and started hitting it with the sword he was holding.

Geoffrey, who realized what Theodore wanted to do was dumbfounded.

"Are you really going to break the glass?" Geoffrey still couldn't believe Theodore's current actions.

Theodore remained silent and focused on breaking the glass with his sword. After hitting the glass several times, it finally broke.

However, what Theodore did caused quite a noise which made several zombies around the place stare at the two of them and started running after them now.
