Michael flew back from the moon, carefully carrying the tired Carol. It was already night on Earth, and while no one was watching, he slipped quietly through the hotel room window and landed gently.
"Michael, put me down!" Carol whispered softly.
Michael gently set her down, but as soon as she touched the ground, Carol groaned and nearly stumbled. Michael quickly caught her, seeing the faint frown on her face, and said softly, "Silly, let me carry you to rest."
"This is all your fault!" Carol said with a flushed face, clearly annoyed. "It was my first time, and you were like a bull!"
Michael chuckled. "How is that my fault? Blame yourself for being so irresistible. What was I supposed to do?"
Michael couldn't stop himself from being captivated by her beauty, and now he felt a little guilty. After all, Carol wasn't like Sif—she didn't have Sif's superhuman endurance. Even though it had been a first experience for both of them, Carol's physical limits were much more... human.
He settled onto the bed with Carol nestled in his arms, feeling the smoothness of her skin. Carol, feeling a little ticklish, hugged him closer, her eyes half-closed, her body shivering slightly.
The night was beautiful, but the woman in his arms was even more captivating.
Originally, Michael had planned to head to Central City or Metropolis to see if he could locate the Flash or Superman, or maybe even go to Star City to meet Green Arrow. But now, with Carol beside him, he found himself unwilling to leave. After their unforgettable moment on the moon, he didn't want to go before they could fully enjoy their time together.
Although he still needed to leave the next day, he resolved to make this night unforgettable.
He held back his impulses, knowing there would be plenty of time in the future, but Carol was more eager than he expected. Michael could sense her longing—not for anything physical, but for their shared moments.
As dawn broke, Michael and Carol stirred awake, greeted by the soft light of morning.
"When...are you leaving?" Carol asked, lying on her side, the sheets pulled up around her.
"I'll have dinner with you first, and then I'll go," Michael replied gently. "I have some things to handle, so I won't be back for about a month."
"I'll wait for you," Carol nodded, then asked hopefully, "Next time, will you stay here?"
"Yeah, I'll settle down here. In the meantime, maybe you can look around for a nice place for us," Michael said.
"Of course!"
Hearing this, Carol's face lit up with joy. The idea of Michael buying a house and settling down meant they wouldn't have to live apart anymore. Originally, he'd only come to this city as a tourist, but now he was planning to settle. It was clear he was serious about her.
They spent the morning chatting and eventually had breakfast together in the hotel restaurant. When the time came, Carol reluctantly saw him off, asking him to return soon. After she left, Michael returned to his room and browsed the news online.
Reports on Green Lantern had already circulated, but Michael didn't pay them much attention. Instead, he looked up other superheroes.
Superman wasn't well-known yet, Central City hadn't witnessed the explosion that would lead to the Flash, and Oliver Queen was still presumed dead, marooned on Purgatory Island, not yet transformed into Green Arrow. After reading through these updates, Michael had a clearer sense of the timeline.
He had considered not erasing the Green Lantern dimension, thinking one DC dimension was enough. However, opening a new dimension would offer new missions, which could help upgrade the system. As long as opening another dimension wouldn't affect Carol, it would be worth it. If it did cause issues, he'd wait until the system upgraded to allow three dimensions and then reopen Green Lantern's dimension.
"System, can I leave early and go to the superpower dimension?" Michael asked.
[Yes, you can.]
With nothing more to handle here, Michael decided to leave early.
In a blink, the scenery changed, and Michael found himself in the superpower dimension. He headed straight to his base to find Kira.
"Master, you're back," Kira greeted excitedly.
Michael nodded. "Yes, I wanted to check on progress here."
Kira quickly updated him, "The serum is still under development with no major breakthroughs yet. We've recruited eight new superhumans, and the current account balance is nearly $800 million. As for the target you were looking for, we've tracked them down and are preparing to make contact."
"Good," Michael replied. "Bring me the three weakest superhumans. I'm going to absorb their abilities. We only need the best. If they're not up to the task, they should live as regular people. Also, withdraw all the funds or convert them to gold bars."
"Yes, master," Kira replied and hurried off.
Michael stayed back to rest. This dimension served as an energy and financial source for him—a convenient ATM.
Before long, the three superhumans entered. Michael, without any words, absorbed their abilities and altered their memories so they could return to normal lives. Gathering the funds would take some time, but he wasn't in a rush. As for Li Xiaolu, he now knew her whereabouts, though he didn't plan to see her personally. That could wait.
After a light meal and a little time with Kira, the day passed quickly.
The time flow matched that of the Green Lantern dimension. After arriving here in the afternoon, he'd spent his time absorbing abilities and resting, and before he knew it, it was almost evening.
Michael prepared for a shower and some rest when he noticed Kira was still lingering in the room.
"You can go and rest now," he said with a smile.
Kira hesitated, her gaze lowering. "Would you like me to stay and serve you?"
"Planning to help me with my shower or keep the bed warm?" Michael laughed. Kira was indeed loyal, even to the point of offering her service in more... intimate ways. He had only adjusted her loyalty to make her obedient, but her dedication now went beyond that.
It hadn't been long since he left Carol, and he didn't feel any need for more companionship, even if Kira was clearly eager to please him.
"Go on; I'll call you if I need you. You're mine, and sooner or later, I'll come for you, so don't worry," he said with a teasing smile. Kira, blushing, nodded and left the room shyly.
After a refreshing shower, Michael slept soundly.
The next day, he toured the base to assess progress. By afternoon, Kira had prepared all the funds, a mixture of cash and gold bars worth around $800 million. This was enough for him to buy an island and begin initial developments.
"I hope she'll be waiting for me next time I return."
Having left instructions for Kira regarding Li Xiaolu, Michael departed from the superpower dimension.
Back on his ship, Michael found only the dark elf and Sarah waiting for him.
