Legacy of Harry Potter

Chapter 11: Farewell to Peverell Brothers

June 1994

4 Privet Drive

The three brothers remained silent for few minutes and waited for Harry to digest the disgusting information they told him.

In those few silent moments Harry felt a myriad of feelings ranging from disgust, anger, rage, trouble and many more.

After few minutes Harry finally calmed down, "So in order to completely kill Voldemort I must find all the horcrux and destroy them?"

The three brothers nodded while Ignotus spoke, "Destroying a horcrux is not easy. And since horcrux are not exactly common, there are no verified methods to it. Theoretically a killing curse would destroy the soul inside the vessel of the horcrux and though Basilisk venom would do the trick as it did with the diary, it will destroy the vessel. So, if Voldemort has used any precious artifact as a vessel of the horcrux you can think of the other option."

He continued, "In our memories you will find few rituals related to soul so you can try them and see if they work."

Harry nodded, "How we deal with the latched soul and is there any method to locate the horcrux?"

Antioch replied, "I have a possible method to it but I am not sure if it will work. If it does work finding the horcrux will quite easy for you."

Harry nodded and waited for the answer.

"Using the soul piece latched on your forehead you can access the memories of Voldemort," added Antioch. "When we deal with it do not let it fade away and absorb its memories. Due to the connection of the soul piece with real Voldemort, you will get the memories of Voldemort till the current time."

"What are the chances of me gaining his memories?" Questioned Harry.

"I do not know but I think this should work. And based on how you told us about the stinging pain in your scar whenever you encountered Voldemort or his horcrux, it shows that there is some form of connection between the broken souls," added Antioch.

"Ok. There is nothing wrong in giving this a try," replied Harry. He added, "One final clarification."

"Ask," gestured Cadmus.

"You mentioned about the complicated ritual required to turn anything into a horcrux. How was I turned into a horcrux?" Asked Harry.

Antioch sighed, "Souls are very obscure topic Harry and whatever understanding we have is based only on theories. It might be that he had performed the ritual and had not split his soul before he came to attack you and by some accident or maybe he willingly turned you into a horcrux or since he had already split his soul, it was unstable and somehow a part of it latched upon it. Nothing can be said with surety."

Harry nodded in understanding.

"Now before we deal with Voldemort, let us tell you about the method the fool the blood wards," said Ignotus.

After this the three brothers proceeded to tell Harry about a simple method to deal with the blood wards.

Now was finally the time to deal with Voldemort.

The three brothers turned around and Cadmus muttered, "Follow us, Harry."

With this the three brothers started to float in air and moved towards the mountain ranges.

"How do I follow you?" Harry questioned in bewilderment.

"This is your mindscape, Harry. You can do whatever you wish," chuckled Antioch.

Willing to float, Harry felt his body moving and he followed the three brothers.

After only few moments of flight, the group of four crossed two mountain range and appeared deep inside the range which appeared to be a gorge.

The nearer Harry got to the gorge, the more he started to fell unpleasant and dark and evil was felt coming from the gorge.

"When we had awakened this foulness was corrupting your entire mindscape, Harry. The sheer size of your mindscape is the only reason, Voldemort had not been able to take control over you. If we had not awakened then it was not much longer before, Voldemort controlled you," informed Antioch.

Harry shuddered at the thought of Voldemort controlling him.

He wondered if Dumbledore knew about all this horcrux. He was sure that Dumbledore knew about the soul piece latched on him after all he not so subtly hinted about his connection with Voldemort. The only question remained now was that if Dumbledore was aware of the possibility of Voldemort taking control over him.

Finally, they arrived deep inside the gorge which felt full of foulness and in the centre stood a small stone structure which had no opening.

"As soon as you get out of here Harry, remove the blood wards and claim the lordship of Peverell family. You will find a small surprise then," smiled Antioch.

"Also live a full life and always do things which makes you happy. You have lived a tough life Harry and do not burden yourself more than necessary. You can deal with Voldemort easily and also let no one manipulate yourself one," muttered Cadmus with a small smile.

"Although this is something you will eventually learn, I must tell you Harry that you are my descendant," informed Ignotus.

Seeing this surprised look on Harry's face Ignotus chuckled, "Potters were related to me Harry. Though out of fear of destruction we left our legacy to a magical heir and not to our blood descendants, it feels good to learn that one from my lineage has been chosen by Magic and Death."

Harry wanted to say few words to the three old men but they had already started to walk towards the stone structure. Harry felt a small tear trickling down his cheek. Though he had not even spent few hours with them, he knew they cared about him. In his entire life as far as Harry remembered he had never felt such emotions.

Even when he had trusted Dumbledore and not learned of his manipulations, and who had tried a maintain a grandfatherly persona in front of him did not made him feel so. Dumbledore always talked in riddles playing his little games and there was not a single instance when that old coot had tried to help him.
