Chapter 3: Nature of Prehistoric Ruins
The number of those gathered almost reached fifty, as most where old and clearly about to reach the end of their lifespans. This trip was like a gamble for them too, while Li Tian was looking around, the others where doing the same.
He was shocked because he didn't find a single person as young as him.
Even those that couldn't cultivate present where twice as old as him. The others had strong aura's about them it was making Li Tian uneasy.
But he didn't have to wait long as a loud cry was heard from the clouds, and a massive golden bird descended.
"Okay! It's time to leave!" Elder Wei that had blown the whistle was the one that had spoken.
With just a jump, his body landed on the back of the massive bird.
The clan Patriarch waved his sleeve and everyone found themselves on the back of the massive golden bird.
His figure was nowhere to be seen afterwards, and the massive bird at Elder Wei's order soared into the sky.
Behind them, a small ship was following and on it, was Li Tiandi the Li clan Patriach as well as Ziyi.
"Sister! Have you thought about it through. From the ground entering the ruins, I can assure you their chances of coming out are very slim. Most already are aware that they might die without achieving breakthrough. Those that don't have cultivation are already destined not to be walking out of the ruins." When the woman heard this, she indeed couldn't help but feel hesitant.
When she came, she had at least thought things would be much better. It was only now that she realized she had been thinking too much, even if she could leverage her relationship to send her sons in the Prehistoric Ruins, she couldn't protect them.
Let's not talk about the Li clan, just her coming to this place with the Li clan meant the other clans that have a competitive relation with the Li clan would target her sons too.
"Brother! There is no need to mention too much. I wont be sending them in the ruins. I have already figured things out, as long as I can collect information about the treasures that can help my sons, it will be easier to solve their problem." The woman said with determination.
What she didn't know was that in Li Tiandi's eyes, her useless sons couldn't amount to much.
Even a small child in their Li clan is willing to take a risk to avoid being mediocre but this two are still thinking about the risks. He shook his head inwardly.
'When did the path of cultivation ever become something safe? This woman is indeed distorting the minds of her sons, and even if she manages to accomplish what she just said in the future, what would be the use?' he didn't tell her this at all.
He continued to sit in the boat and chat as he observed the golden eagle before them.
After about two hours of flight, vast mountains covered in fairy mist could be seen entering their line of sight.
On the back of the golden eagle, Li Tian was even more shocked as it was a breathtaking scene. The abundant spiritual energy on this mountains had already materialized into fog, and this was not something that could be seen everyday.
With his current situation and condition in the Li clan, it was very difficult to have access to such an environment.
He wasn't the only one admiring the situation ahead of them, but surprisingly, the golden eagle didn't continue to fly towards the mountains, as it descended just before reaching them.
Even though Li Tian was slightly disappointed, he didn't dare show it.
As the eagle descended, he was able to see groups of people below them.
Each was standing before two massive stone pillars engraved with strange symbols he couldn't understand anything about. But looking at them, he couldn't help but remember the markings that existed on a computer motherboard in his previous life. Even though the markings were not completely the same, they took the same nature.
It was something beyond him, and he looked at the center of the pillars, a particular plartfo with even more complicated symbols was present. The pillars gave off an ancient aura, and everyone clearly had a look of caution and awe when looking at them, even the elders brining their descendants.
When the golden eagle landed, Li Tian had yet to even think when he discovered his body was already on the ground and he couldn't steady himself properly, as a result falling to the ground.
He was not shocked by this, after all the Patriach moved them on the golden eagle when they where coming. It was just right that elder Wei moved them to the ground.
But his falling didn't seem unique, considering a few of the older Li clan members without cultivation also followed to the ground.
After he stood up, his clothes that were initially neat, had dark brown spots on them.
"In the world of martial arts, respect can only be earned even among family!" He was very sober and didn't dare show anger.
He was more clear of his circumstances. What pride did he need when his body had nothing to show for after having been in this world for about fifteen years.
He could even be said to understand the thoughts of the elder. Whether it was him or the others, he had already marked them as dead.
It would be a miracle to walk out but that miracle was perhaps something he reserved for those clan members who had cultivation but their lifespan was almost ending.
After standing up, he didn't show any expression and looked around. His sight landed on a lot of things he had ignored.
A power was gathering and making the two pillars posses a strange glow.
"Is this the entrance to the Prehistoric Ruins!" He didn't ask, but came up with his own conclusion.
He had been working for Alchemist Yao all this time in the Li clan not just for nothing. Other than the fake pills he had gathered over the years, he had obtained some common sense of the world of cultivation.
He was certain that once they reached the Ruins, anyone, including the Li clan members will become enemies. He had to guard against them, and being naive as to think they were from the same family was seeking death.
More than that, the dangers in the ruins were beyond what he could deal with, but even so he had to venture in alone.
Having more people was a recipe for disaster.
As he was thinking about all this, he suddenly heard a voice from the side.
"Hehe! Li Wei never changes. You clearly don't want to bring this clan members to the Prehistoric Ruins but have to come. It seems that that old man from your Li clan doesn't give you face." A muffled aged man with red hair was the one speaking.
The moment Li Tian looked at the man, he could feel as though he was facing an oven.
"Qin Wentian! Mind your own business!" Elder Wei that brought them to this place snorted coldly as he looked at the red haired middle-aged man.
But the middle-aged man didn't care about this at all. He just continued looking over with a playful expression.
"You have not made any improvement over the years, it seems that the title of genius was all misplaced. Here I thought you were going to become a legend, turns out I was overthinking things." He continued to taunt elder Wei.
The two of them released their aura's at the same time, and the resulting outcome was clearly Li Tian and those from the Li clan being pushed back onto the ground.
But Li Tian didn't even bother to try resisting.
"Is this what the actual mind if cultivators operate. They actually don't care about our lifes in the slightest. If any of us where at their level or higher they wouldn't dare." He was even more unwilling to continue with his mediocre life.
At this moment he felt that even if the situation in the Prehistoric Ruins was far more dangerous than anything else, he had to go.
"I can't continue to be mediocre." It was not oike he had not tried to cultivate over the years, but all of it ended up in nothing. The Li clan wasn't stingy with foundation techniques, but even so he couldn't achieve anything.
The others, especially cultivators whose lifespan was about to end, didn't go down easily.
They wanted to resist the pressure but it was just too strong, and their efforts proved useless.
The pressure unleashed by Li Wei was not any less and forced those on the Qin clan side to also collapse on the ground.
At this point, only those older experts and informed could guess the actions of this two. The two of them clearly knew what they were doing.
Their actions were tantamount to cutting off the future of those trying to enter the ruins.
"Enough!"
Suddenly a terrifying pressure even swept past.
