Life as a Dragon (LOTR)

Chapter 12: Chapter 12

Finally settling at the foot of the mountain, I rested against the ground as my mind reeled from the pain surging through my body. I have never experienced this much in either of my lives and was trying to cope as best I could. I want to think that I would be able to fight through the pain and get up to continue the good fight, but for now, I need to catch my breath.

While I rested on the ground, the dust from our mini landslide slowly settled. I saw Sauron stumbling to his feet about forty feet from me. His armor was dented in many places, and it looked like he was breathing heavily and wheezing while clutching his left arm.

Heh. Now, we both have broken left appendages.

Snarling in anger, I hear Sauron shouting at me. "Why?!? What reason could there be for you to fight for them, you STUPID BEAST!"

I could feel his hatred radiating and permeating the air around us. Wincing, I slowly rose from the ground. Everything aches and hurts. Glancing at my wings as I try to unfurl them, I see my left-wing struggling to extend and my right wing shredded.

It will be a while before I can fly again.

Luckily, I had torn my wing before when I was younger, and I knew how to fix it. Unfortunately, it takes a long time to heal. Sighing in resignation, I turn back to face Sauron and start working the voice box I was born with. I had been practicing my ability to speak by myself, but this would be my debut publicly.

"Why does a boot need to explain itself to an ant? It doesn't; it just crushes the ant without reason. Because it's an ant."

I won't lie; I'm proud of that one. I took some inspiration from a particular black, one-eyed Marvel character.

Sauron scowled, "Am I the "ant" in this analogy of yours?"

Nodding my head at him, he scoffed and raised his mace while swinging it around. He is trying to figure out how much range of motion he still has.

"I am going to enjoy skinning you alive little worm. Your entrails will decorate the halls of my castle, and every morning and evening, I will piss and shit in your open skull. Your soul will cry out in agony as I torment it for all of eternity, and I will feed your tongue to MY DOGS AS I USE YOUR HEART AS A BALL FOR THEM TO FETCH DO YOU HEAR ME, YOU INSIGNIFICANT WORM!"

… Damn. That guy needs to take a chill pill.

I can't help myself, and a grin spreads across my draconic features. I love trash-talking.

"Are you done throwing a hissy fit? I'm ready to tango, ant."

Screaming in fury, Sauron thrust his hand toward me, and an invisible wave of force stirred the ground as it hurtled toward me. I grit my teeth, dig my claws into the ground, and lung forward, horns first.

Force meets force, and the earth shakes as we clash. My bones shake to the roots, and my teeth chatter, but I hold. Shaking my head to clear it, I look toward Sauron and see him panting with his arms dangling at his side.

Checkmate.

A feral grin spreads, and I roar as loud as possible. Charging forward, I move to close the distance between us.

Jerking, Sauron looks around in panic and sees the horde fighting the Last Alliance behind him. Turning, Sauron sprints toward the Orcs while waving his hands and shouting something in Black Speech. I have yet to learn what he is saying since I don't speak that language.

Roaring again, in joy this time. I chase him as he flees into the ranks of the Orcs. Meanwhile, the Orcs standing their ground as I approach look horrified. I think that one on the end shit himself.
