"I bought you a dress"Irene walked into Oceana's bedroom her excitement could be seen on her slightly wrinkled face "mm"Oceana nodded indifferently as she then accepted the bag, Irene sighed seeing the dark circles under her daughters eyes

"Those students do they bully you often?" Irene asked, she clenched her fist by her side as she starred unblinkingly at Oceana. She had her regrets

Her own grievances, what hurt the most was knowing her daughter had to suffer for her own mistakes.

"It's the law of nature"Oceana replied with a gruff as she then prepared her bag, Irene glanced at her outfit and her brows couldn't help but furrow

This child lacked any sense of fashion or aesthetic, she wore a dress for the beauty of covering up and nothing more

"Don't wear that wear the dress" she pointed and Oceana furrowed her brows clearly displeased. There was no way she was wearing that "Big... sis" Leo wobbled in with a bag of chips in his hand

His cheeeks were stuffed and his face was covered in both snot and chips residue

He looked cute with his chubby cheeks and round body. "Leo you're dirty"Irene tried to pick him up however the child wobbled up to Oceana who stared at him indifferently

"Big….. sis is Pwetty"Leo grinned as he climbed unto Oceana's bed "mm" Oceana nodded clueless on how she was to interact with this child "big sis.... Buy me a bun"he pouted his greasy lips and Irene sighed

"When grandma makes a lot of money I'll buy you buns"Irene whispered still trying to pull him away "I'll buy the buns" Oceana suddenly spoke up, Irene froze and Leo clapped excitedly

Oceana couldn't help but glance at the bed which had somehow wrinkled up with Leo's presence. "I'll clean it" Irene said and Oceana headed out she walked to the kitchen and made herself a cup of coffee

She wasn't a fan of patronizing cafe's and the likes as they were extremely expensive making her own coffee and tea was the only best option for her. While at her coffee she made herself some garlic bread toast, scrambled egg with some pan fried sausage which she ate for breakfast alongside the coffee

Irene couldn't help but smile seeing the child eat, the child always ran off before breakfast and she knew why….

She wasn't a good cook

Leo already hated her cooking at this point and Lester managed his meal

He was barely above an average cook however it was better than Irene's cooking Oceana finished her breakfast quickly she did the dishes afterwards and couldn't help but glance at the house.

Things were thrown on all sides, the house was disorganized she couldn't help but sigh

Irene busied herself with Leo the little boy was a chatter box and full of energy, extremely mischievous she didn't even notice Oceana had left till she was finally able to get Leo ready for school

Oceana arrived school as usual clad in her sweat pants, shirt and hoodie which was sold old it was slowly losing color

She didn't care

The glanced of the students were full of disdain

She was used to

Their snarky comments and scorn

She was used to it all

"Hey"Cairo smiled on seeing her walk through the hallway "Hey"she grunted with disinterest

"I found this at the shops it'll look good on you"Cairo handed her a bracelet, she halted slightly narrowing her eyes at him "what do you want from me?"she frowned, she hated peopleshe couldn't understand the most their motives were unclear and devious. "I want us to be friends Oceana" he chuckled, she glared at him "add me to that list Oceana Lyndon"Saki smiled warmly Cairo couldn't help his surprise that his friend had agreed to be friends with Oceana

However he wanted Oceana for himself "will you buy me lunch?"she asked both men directly and they both nodded, she hummed and went into her class

Cairo didn't offer this class hence they parted ways "Lyndon how've you been doing"Xenir smiled on seeing her favorite student, she missed seeing oceana the most due to her own busy schedules "I'm fine prof"Oceana say and xenir begin to scribble on the board "it's been so long let's test how capable you are" xenir wrote the questions and turned to Oceana grinning widely

Oceana brows furrowed to her xenir was an educational psychopath yet she had no choice but the lower her head and start solving

She was grateful to professor xenir as she wasn't picky or moved by the crowd, she taught wholeheartedly and put her mind into Oceana even going as far as taking Oceana special classes this was no secret in the school and was frowned upon by many

Xenir however wasn't bothered in the slightest the school couldn't contradict her decision it really wasn't up to them

Two hours later Oceana brows was still in a tight frown she couldn't help but glance at this young woman who screamed madness

Professor xenir surely wasn't human the questions she brought up were outwardly well expected from a genius who had won several awards however Oceana was no genius

If she could she didn't want to go to school all together, she didn't even wanna read yet Xenir was drawn to this aspect of her which showed her high prospects which could lead to a bright future she had high hopes on Oceana and was betting all her cards and resources on this kid

Who hadn't allowed her get expelled none other than the genius professor who fought hard on Oceana's academic brilliance

"I can't" Oceana bit the bullet after almost five hours of brainstorming, xenir chuckled as she walked over she took the book Oceana used in brainstorming and studied it carefully her eyes were unreadable however deep down she was dancing for joy her mind was filled with several scenarios of how she would brag to those old geezers about her student

Meanwhile Oceana stared at the mad professor with profound annoyance, this woman was gonna be the death of her

~Xenir Beckett~

A world renowned genius, a prodigy who was revered across the nation however to Oceana this woman was a thorn in her flesh

"This question took those geezers two months to solve yet in five hours you've got it?" Xenir was genuinely impressed, Oceana on the other hand was wide eyed

"Except a few errors everything else is good" Xenir clarified and then she wrote up another equation on the board "Decode this" she pointed and Oceana frowned

"I have to go to work"she muttered hatefully, xenir on the other hand wasn't bothered she was more interested in how far Oceana could brainstorm to her Oceana's greatest ability was her brain storming

She could rack up a lot of ideas in one seating and that had been tested multiple times "we'll go on the code won't decode itself" Xenir pointed out and Oceana sighed she alas lowered her head and begin scribbling words in her notebook and at the same time her hands flew over the laptop in front of her

It wasn't hers but Xenir's she couldn't afford a new set of clothes talk more of a pair of shoes talk more of a laptop which could cost half a year of her bills

The term walk like an ox and feed like an ant was too true

She worked for another six hours this time the coding was more brutal than the written question she groaned in exhaustion and pain 11 hours on 2 questions was inhumanly possible but Xenir made the impossible possible

She sighed turning in the already decoded code igniting Xenir's excitement. 'Not good' Oceana thought seeing Xenir smile so much "I have a job for you" Xenir suddenly spoke out and Oceana raised a brow her brain mentally calculating the bills to be made and how she could manage her time with this new job

"It's a formal job at a company you'll work part time" Xenir explained and Oceana listened with full interest. Seeing the greedy look in her eyes Xenir laughed unable to hold herself back

Oceana stared at her clearly confused as to what was so funny "it's a game company"Xenir finally said and Oceana nodded like a rattle drum she didn't care about anything else than the amount she could make from this

She would be able to afford the expensive black roses her grandma had always loved

She would buy black roses anytime she went visiting however they were ridiculously expensive she couldn't help the panic attack that came with spending so much on roses still it was her grandmother and she couldn't be stingy "here's the business card you can go tomorrow" Xenir smiled her happiness was radiant Oceana panicked

The mad professors happiness only meant more theorems and questions to solve hence she ran off quickly. Xenir smiled

"Where did that girl go"Karl stumbled into the office clearly intoxicated and drunk beyond words "you look so unsightly" Xenir couldn't help but wrinkle her nose, the foul stench on this professor was strong she almost threw up however she held herself "why..... didn't you let...…her... see...… me!" Karl slurred on his words, staggering back and forth. He was

He drunk professor a terrifying genius with an even more terrifying habit he was an addict he couldn't do a day without drinker

He worked best when he was in fact drunk hence the school was very open to his drinking no one dared complain or scoff him

"That child has been bullied so much where have you been!" Xenir snapped "Me?...…. I've been…. abroad" he slurred as he dramatically sat facing Xenir who didn't look pleased she wondered how that woman managed to marry such an uncultured man and their bond was so strong even she was cringed out by them "wait..... who dared?"his voice boomed his eyes turned alert and cold gone was the drunkenness and there was the fearsome ~ Karl cross~

"How would you know when you're so busy abroad, her hands are full of bruises….. thus school" Xenir clenched her jaw the only reason they still stayed was to protect that student in the shadows no one could but them

Being geniuses had its perks anyways and they were ready to use all the favors they had to boost Oceana in every way they could

"Those old geezers said nothing to me"Karl berated himself "it's not your fault….. be more observant" she adviced as she stared at the upright man in front of her the drunk man from earlier now felt like an illusion a figment of her own imagination. They continued to chat

While Cairo and Saki caught up with Oceana "what took you so long?" Saki questioned and Oceana glanced back to the hallway she had just come through as if it was deaths door

"I had things to do"she replied stiffly she wasn't used to people and interacting wasn't her strongest fort "why don't we enjoy a fun evening?"cairo asked "I have to work"she relied "we equally have to work"Saki scratched his head awkwardly he of course wasn't a second generation rich kid his parents were the normal middle class civil servants their earning was nothing compared to the typical rich families who made millions yearly however Cairo was different. "Let's have fun first there'll be enough time to cover up"Cairo smiled as he pulled Oceana along, she glared at him however this time she didn't push him away, she walked with them out of school

Unknown to them someone had taken a picture of the trio and posted it on the school's Forum soon after several nasty comments followed, it only got nastier by the minute

"You came"Auntie Shen was over joyed seeing Oceana she hurried over and hugged Oceana tightly like a mother who hadn't seen her child in a long time "Auntie Shen missed you so much" Auntie Shen whimpered and Cairo chuckled "Auntie Shen don't scare her" Cairo teased. "She loves me you really can't compare to this Auntie" Auntie Shen bragged Oceana lowered her head Auntie Shen wasn't wrong she did like her a lot cause she made good food, just like several years ago when the kind neighbor would always cook for her till they moved away suddenly and she had never seen the kind auntie till date. Saki couldn't help his gaze as it drifted to Oceana more times than he could remember staring at her up close as they sat she was beautiful and rid of the makeup and powders the girls wore

He knew she wasn't interested in those things he couldn't help blushing all over at her beautiful face, was this really the girl everyone scorned at…. She was always dressed so hideously maybe if she did dress more like the girls in school will things change? He wondered.

Soon the meal arrived and Oceana dug in quickly "this child"Auntie shen's heart broke seeing Oceana's thin hands and the scars left behind from constant bullying

Her restaurant wasn't frequented by students however she got the gist from her daughter

"Oceana's here" Yuri hurried over to the table the trio occupied "don't cause trouble yuri"Auntie Shen glared at her daughter and yuri grinned "she's so pretty" Yuri muttered she took out her phone and took a picture of Oceana's face secretly while they ate. A satisfied smile played on her lips as she then logged into the school's forum "what are you doing?" Namito asked and yuri almost fell over "don't scare me"Yuri glared at the latter and continued to fiddle with her phone "don't stir up troubles Yuri"Namito warned "do I look like a trouble maker?"Yuri asked directly and Namito gave her the look isn't it obvious

The meal was done quickly the bowls were eaten clean and Auntie Shen was happy with their appetite unlike her daughter Yuri who was overly conscious of her weight, what she ate and diet she had even spotted Yuri a dozen over times counting calories

"You should come more often kid" Auntie Shen smiled hiding the hurt in her eyes "here"she handed Oceana a whitish substance in a small bottle staring at the name Oceana was a little bit dazed this was scar remover

She glanced down at her scars she had a lot of them scattered all over her body she didn't care the slightest bit what her body looked like all she cared about was living "thank you Auntie" Oceana lowered her eyes to hide her emotions "if you have any grievances I'm a great fighter"Namito butted in "mm"she nodded and Auntie Shen smiled clearly contented as usual she handed Oceana a bag of food after both Saki and Cairo paid

"Bye auntie" they waved before walking off it was past 6pm the shops were lit with activities the wind was gentle and soothing and the group opted for a walk around the perimeter they chatted as they walked with Saki and Cairo saying the most Oceana would occasionally nod or hum in response and by the end of the day Saki bought her a large plushie Teddy like the ones on tv "it's expensive" she firmly rejected it however Saki wasn't giving up "take it as an apology from me to you for misunderstanding you all this while"he said and she took the plushie teddy with complicated emotions

Was it joy? She thought

"I'll just accept it cause I'm in a good mood"she said and both Cairo and Saki couldn't help laughing they knew she meant it however it was so funny

She stared at them confused as to what was funny "let's eat some ice cream " Cairo pointed to the ice cream truck "I'm full" she protested

Ice cream was expensive and she didn't want them spending recklessly "if we don't ice cream who will?" Saki ran over to the the ice cream truck he was an obvious sweet tooth Cairo followed behind, they ordered an ice cream each and a large ice cream bucket for Oceana "you both should stop wasting money" she commented as if feeling the pinch on their own behalf

The economy of the state was declining and the prices of food were on the rise spending recklessly wasn't an option "we'll recover the money in a few days whereas money was made to be spent" Cairo replied naturally and Saki nodded like a rattle drum he was so engrossed in his ice cream nothing else mattered.

After some hearty backs and forth she alas went about her cleaning jobs

It took a little over an hour for her to be done, she received her pay and headed to the supermarket she walked in briskly glancing over at the things children loved

She had no idea what children loved as she was never a sweet tooth in fact she loved bitter things like black coffee hence she picked a few random snacks based on her observation on other kids after which she checked out to pay the bill before heading home

"Where did you get a plushie?"cleo asked seeing Oceana arrive the apartment building, Oceana glanced at the gossipy woman a frown found its way unto her face "Cleo you damn bitch! If you bully my daughter I'll beat you up trust me!" Irene rushed out fiercely and Cleo backed away glaring at Irene "where did she get the money to buy such an expensive plush toy!" Cleo pointed out, the other auntie's poked their heads out with interest "is Oceana selling her body?" Gwen voiced out and Irene lunged at her pulling Gwen and Cleo "speak ill of my daughter one more time and I'll beat you to death! Do you think my daughters is useless? Your sons gamble everyday, the others are drunkards while your daughters parade themselves in hideous makeup and skimpy dresses do you think my daughter is like your useless daughters who couldn't get up to middle school?" Irene yelled as she continued to beat both women

The other women ran off in fear of getting into trouble while Cleo and Gwen shrieked like pigs being slaughtered

Lester frowned as he walked out and pulled Irene away from the women "don't look at me with those eyes they were bullying your sister!" Irene huffed and walked in "crazy bitch! Your slut of a mother will go to jail!"Cleo yelled as tears and snot filled her face which had somehow swollen badly under the influence of Irene's fist. "One more word! Just one" Irene came rushing out with a large iron rode and both women ran off in fear they didn't dare curse till they reached their houses before howling insults behind closed doors

"Cowards" Irene spat as she then walked in

Oceana on the other hand was busy with Leo who constant blabbed about the happening in his school while eating the things she brought from Auntie Shen, she also ate while listening to him

To her the ruckus outside had nothing to do with her. "Do you always get bullied like this?" Lester asked a frown settling on his lips. "They think I'm dead! I've been mute doesn't mean I'm weak I'll beat them up" irene swung her fist viciously her eyes were full of anger "Fighting won't solve anything" he sighed. "It will put them in their place" she brushed him off and went into the kitchen to check on the stir fried rice she had managed to make. "Mom how many kids do you have?" He suddenly asked and Irene fell into deep thought "11" she replied and both Lester and Oceana were visibly shocked "who's the oldest?" He asked his curiosity getting the best of him. "George" she replied and Lester chuckled he was amazed he knew Oceana was her last child which she had almost lost her life giving birth to however he had never thought that this woman would have 9 other kids "they'll be coming sooner or later it's not easy on their end! I've tried to take care of you all this long neglecting your sister" she glared at him and he bit his lips in understanding however where will everyone stay?

Oceana on the other hand wasn't bothered with whatever decisions Irene made as far as it didn't affect her much she was okay "we'll leave this slums!" Irene said decisively however Oceana chuckled clearly amused at Irene's empty talk surely this woman wasn't banking on the money she made out of her stall right she thought as she continued to chat with Leo after an exhausting day she went in to freshen up and do some studying

A few days past uneventfully

Oceana stared at the card in her hand then at the large building, it wasn't one of the biggest building in the state or amongst the top 30 however it was outstanding in its own unique way

"Oceana Lyndon" Benji waved as he hurried over Oceana glanced at him a bit wary of this stranger "I'm here to take you into the department " he said and Oceana furrowed her brows slightly however she nodded and followed behind him the secretary Anne had a formal smile on as she greeted them both

Oceana didn't care about formalities hence she followed Benji to the department she would be working in

"Is she the newbie?" Kiro asked as he glanced at Benji "yea" Benji nodded and the others glanced over sizing up Oceana as she stood beside Benji without any emotion on her face it felt more like she didn't care about their existence in the room "Can she work on par with us?" Tammy asked curiously and Benji turned to Oceana he couldn't speak up for her she had to do all that herself. "A test will prove her worth" Liam said from the side and the others nodded

In less than ten minutes they were able to compile a test for her, Oceana glanced at the written data's her brows furrowed slightly They stared at her gauging her emotions however she gave nothing. They couldn't go easy on her their team needed members who could compliment each other and for that they needed to know her strongest point

They watched eagerly as her hands flew through the keyboard as she typed, she continued to scribble some nonsensical codes which made their faces flicker with interest they wondered how far she could go with this task. "She'll likely fail" Penny pointed out however the others glared at her

"It's okay to fail it's only worse if you fail and you don't try again"Oceana glanced at penny her gaze was ice cold probably due to her focus on the task however penny flinched in fear she swore her heart skipped a bit those red eyes felt like they could see through her soul and unravel her darkest secrets however Oceana want interested in all that what mattered the most to her was the task at hand she had spent 2 hours yet she was only halfway done she wasn't even throughly done yet. she remembered Xenir's teaching which were complicated and hard to adapt to she sighed as he hands continued to work

The lotion Auntie Shen had given her was quite effective, the scars had gone off on heir own she had even gotten a body lotion from auntie Shen and her skin was now more smooth and clean looking

Alas she was done, pressing hard on the last key she gasped "here" Benji handed her a bottle of water his eyes held bits of admiration for this young lady that code was not an easy fit yet she was able to decode it even with several bugs in the code "we look forward to working together" Liam smiled a clear sign of his approval Oceana nodded she felt pleased

"Lunch" she suddenly asked and everyone burst into laughter
