Ch 34
Chapter 34 Trouble
“Move, move, move! What are you standing there stupidly for? Do you want me to come and invite you?”
The bandits were completely oblivious, their faces full of arrogance from a higher world. They reached out and grabbed the beastmen, dragging them out roughly.
The little snake sub-beast, seeing the fierce faces approaching him, once again leaned into Ye Ze’s arms.
Once the emotion of fear was conveyed, not only did Ye Ze’s expression darken, but even the two worldly spirits waiting in the backyard for the little snake sub-beast instantly transformed from a lazy demeanor to ferocious hostility. Before the two goose could react, they had already disappeared from the courtyard.
The beastman soldier, seeing those menacing black eyes and reaching for the little snake sub-beast’s arm, felt as if he had been burned by lava and almost reflexively withdrew his hand.
He had a gut feeling that if he hadn’t stopped just now, he would have faced a terrifying danger, more frightening than the most ferocious beast tide he had ever encountered!
When the beastman soldier snapped out of the blank state, he was drenched in cold sweat all over his body. Looking at the two who were still standing there, he felt utterly ashamed.
But he no longer had the courage to provoke this terrifying man. He could only shout angrily, urging the two to hurry up and leave with the group.
Fortunately, he didn’t receive that kind of terrifying intimidation again this time.
Ye Ze gave him a cold glance, then embraced the little snake sub-beast and walked away. The straight line of his mouth softened into a gentle smile as he leaned closer to the little snake sub-beast. He handed him a piece of candy to soothe his nerves.
Wherever Ye Ze was, it was very safe.
Surrounded by Ye Ze’s aura, the little snake sub-beast quickly calmed down.
After all, Nuo Nuo was going to follow Ye Ze through thick and thin as a sub-beastman.
No matter what grand scene they encountered, he couldn’t be afraid.
Go, Nuo Nuo!
The little snake sub-beast cheered wildly in his heart, cheering himself on.
Then, a round candy appeared in front of him.
This time, the little snake sub-beast behaved well. He lowered his gaze, staring at the candy carefully for a long time before opening his mouth and taking a bite.
Sweet.
He liked it!
The tip of the little snake sub-beast’s tail curled up proudly and wagged.
Ye Ze chuckled silently. He mischievously thought that when the little snake sub-beast let his guard down, he would stuff another sour candy into his mouth.
The little snake sub-beast, with eyes wide in shock, was also very cute.
“Quickly, move! Don’t waste time! Lord Sheng Ming is still waiting for you. Do you think you are stronger than Lord Sheng Ming? Do you think you’re worth wasting his time?”
The leader urged incessantly, his face showing impatience.
He was a Beast Marshal-level beastman, just enough to suppress Wareng, the strongest in the current caravan.
Obviously, although the other party was arrogant, they were not completely reckless. Or rather, they didn’t want Wareng to rise up and lose face after resisting.
To prevent Wareng from refusing to cooperate, they specially dispatched a Beast Marshal who shouldn’t have been in the ranks of errand soldiers.
Ye Ze calmly scanned the scene.
In places where no one noticed, tiny spore-like seeds floated down onto the beastmen, settling and taking root. Quietly waiting for the moment of eruption.
Wareng left the hall before Ye Ze. Seeing the leading beastman, he also noticed this. His face turned so dark it seemed almost like ink was about to drip out.
But thinking that Ye Ze and the little snake sub-beast were still present, he took a deep breath, suppressed his anger, and struggled to force a smile. “This sir, there are still two guests who came with us for convenience in the hall. You see…”
The leading beastman rudely accepted the Beast God stones handed over by Wareng, checked the amount, and pocketed them. The corners of his mouth curved maliciously as he cursed, “I already said when you came in, take them all! Didn’t you hear me? Or do you want to defy the orders of Lord Sheng Ming?”
The smile on Wareng’s face froze.
Under the other party’s increasingly coercive attitude, the usually kind and wise young beastman was also overcome with anger.
These guys were simply too overbearing!
A hand timely reached out and rested on Wareng’s shoulder.
Pulling Wareng back from impulsiveness.
Wareng turned around. Seeing Ye Ze behind him, he looked apologetic.
“It’s okay.” Ye Ze squeezed his shoulder, leading him away from the leading beastman and into the crowd of escorts. He whispered, “Go with them. I have a way.”
Wareng was slightly surprised.
The other party was a half-step King-level beastman, backed by the power of the Emperor-level beastman in the big city. No matter how strong Ye Ze was, he was only one person. How could he solve it?
Moreover, this matter had nothing to do with Ye Ze in the first place. Ye Ze still had so many good things on him…
Wareng was stunned for a moment, his eyes widened in disbelief.
Could it really be this coincidental?
“So, we have some fate after all,” Ye Ze smiled, patting his shoulder. With the little snake sub-beast in tow, he continued to move forward.
Despite Ye Ze’s seemingly amiable smile, Wareng couldn’t help but shiver unexpectedly. His gaze fell on the well-protected little snake sub-beast, and he suddenly had a dreamlike intuition that “Lord Sheng Ming had kicked a big iron plate” this time.
After all, without assurance, he didn’t believe Ye Ze would bring this precious burden with him into the lion’s den.
The Lord’s mansion was indeed the main residence owned by a King-level beastman. Its spaciousness and splendor were far beyond the comparison of ordinary mansions.
Ye Ze followed the group, surveying left and right, nodding in satisfaction. Then he patted the little snake sub-beast’s head. “Nuo Nuo, do you like the environment here?”
“?” The little snake sub-beast was puzzled. His eyes scanned the surroundings extremely cautiously, and he answered quietly, “Li… like?”
Ye Ze automatically ignored the uncertain tremor at the end and smiled brightly, “That’s good.”
“???” The little snake sub-beast was even more confused.
What’s so good about liking someone else’s courtyard?
Wareng, who was walking beside them, twitched his face. Watching Ye Ze stroll around as if in his own backyard, his sense of foreboding grew heavier and heavier.
He always felt like this guy was plotting something extraordinary.
Inviting Ye Ze into the Lord’s mansion might turn out to be the biggest regret of Lord Sheng Ming’ life.
The group was hurriedly escorted forward.
In the suppressed atmosphere, they finally reached their destination.
The main hall of the Lord’s mansion was absolutely magnificent.
Carved beams and painted rafters, inlaid with gold and jade. If it weren’t for the little snake sub-beast having already witnessed the grandeur of the interdimensional market, he would definitely have been dazzled by everything before his eyes.
The little snake sub-beast stole glances at the beastmen who showed surprise, feeling for the first time such a direct sense of the changes Ye Ze had brought to him.
He clung to Ye Ze’s arm, seeking to hold onto the rare treasure, exerting more force but also being more cautious.
Ye Ze patted his hand. His ability spread silently, enveloping the little snake sub-beast, preventing him from being harmed by the oppressive pressure pouring down from the high seat.
The Lord Sheng Ming looked down at them, beckoning to someone beside him.
Soon, Cang Jiao and his group were escorted into the hall. They all bore more or less injuries.
Not caused by fighting.
Wareng’s eyes almost turned red in an instant, his teeth grinding audibly. It took great effort to restrain himself from rushing forward and fighting the Lord Sheng Ming.
It was the leader!
The little snake sub-beast’s astonished gaze shifted between the leader and Ye Ze. He wisely closed his mouth.
The leader also showed a hint of surprise when he saw Ye Ze together with his brother, but he didn’t say anything either.
“You don’t need to pretend not to know each other. Of course, even if you really don’t know each other, it doesn’t matter,” the Lord Sheng Ming said, leaning back with one leg crossed over the other, propping his chin with one hand, slouched in the highest seat. His iron-gray eyes fell directly on Ye Ze, confirming, “The mobile box you rode in on is just like those strange goods brought back by Cang Jiao. Even if you and that wandering beastman are not the same person, you come from the same place.”
Under the leader’s frantic gaze, Ye Ze chuckled lightly, “Indeed, you’re worthy of being a King-level beastman. Your actions and judgments are quite accurate.”
“You’re very good,” the Lord Sheng Ming grinned. Thinking that Ye Ze had acknowledged his status, he asked with confidence, “Are you willing to join me with your resources? I assure you, what you’ll gain will be much more than before.”
“I’m not willing.”
“Status, wealth, honor, beautiful women—these I can provide… What did you say?” The Lord Sheng Ming’s confident expression stiffened. His eyes stared fixedly at Ye Ze, and he asked in a deep voice, “I’ll give you another chance. What did you just say?”
“I said, I’m not interested,” Ye Ze shrugged, wearing a more sinister smile than the Lord Sheng Ming, “Besides, I quite like the location of this palace.”
“I’ll take it,” Ye Ze declared, standing still, his proclamation landing on the Lord Sheng Ming’s ears with a nonchalant tone.
The Lord Sheng Ming first froze, then burst into laughter.
The surrounding attendants, as if hearing some absurd fantasy, joined in the laughter with Lord Sheng Ming.
“You little brat, have you gone mad? How dare you talk to me like this! Just a wandering beastman, feeling proud after acquiring some rare craftsmanship. Do you even know how many noble existences there are in the city…”
“Pfft!”
Crimson vines silently pierced through, piercing through his brain.
In his last memories, there was Ye Ze’s gentle yet chilling laughter, “I don’t deny that there are many strong beings in this world. But clearly, you are not one of them.”
Ye Ze covered the little snake sub-beast’s eyes.
Clearly, he had just effortlessly killed a half-step beast king, but his attitude was casual, as if he had just brushed away a speck of dust.
The laughter around him abruptly ceased at this moment.
The attendants were like ducks grabbed by the neck, wide-eyed with fear, their bodies trembling uncontrollably.
The beastman soldiers of the caravan were also stunned by this unexpected turn of events. Watching Lord Sheng Ming’s body slump to the ground, absorbed by the eerie crimson vines, their jaws nearly hit the floor, giving Ye Ze a five-body salute of admiration.
They only knew that Ye Ze was very powerful, stronger than their leader.
But they didn’t know that Ye Ze was so strong that he could casually deal with a half-step beast king, and not be afraid of retaliation from a beast emperor-level figure!
Silence engulfed the surroundings.
After a while, a sudden panicked scream from a maid broke the silence.
This time, it was Ye Ze’s turn to show a wild and crazy smile.
“Quiet.”
Just a soft word.
The entire hall was paused.
Even the most terrified maid desperately covered her mouth. Even though tears flowed from the corners of her eyes, she didn’t dare to make the slightest sound.
“Now, all of you belong to me,” Ye Ze’s gaze swept over the soldiers who had been aiding and abetting, the attendants who had been complicit in the cruelty, his tone playful, “What you just did, was that your way of expressing that?”
The former subordinates of Lord Sheng Ming trembled in their eye sockets. Looking at each other, they reluctantly dropped their weapons, no longer having any fighting spirit, and prostrated themselves before the new king.
