Living a Lazy Life in the Beast World!

Chapter 5: Mental Health Deterioration

Daisy cleaned the fish scales and cut off its head using a sharp edge stone. She proceed to remove its internal organs using a clean stick. Then she inserted the raw ingredients she found into its empty body and grilled it over the fire.

The intense heat from the flames cooked the fish and flavored it's flesh with the herbs and spices. The smell of meat filled the area around her campsite with an aroma that made her mouth water.

"Slurp, why does this smell so good?"

She stared at the grilled fish with wide eyes, afraid of over cooking them. After waiting for what seemed like a lifetime, the fishes was ready to eat.

Daisy hurriedly brought a clean leaf and placed the cooked fish. As soon as she broke the flesh, a burst of intense fragrance attacked her nose. It was disturbing yet mouth watering.

She blew the heat away before slowly putting a piece of flesh in her mouth, "Hmm!" The soft texture of meat with exciting spices and a bit of sourness made her close her eyes in enjoyment.

"I wish I had a block of salt." She sighed but continued gobbling the fish. She happily ate her meal, unaware that someone was drooling over her food.

After heartily eating her lunch, she extinguished the fire with the river water and buried the fish waste, ensuring that their scent will not be easily found by any potential hunters or predators in the area.

"Now, let's get to work!"

She dissembled her tent, returning everything to nature. She knew that she couldn't live nearby the river for too long, it was too open for wild beasts to come and visit. She needed to find a cave, or a village if possible.

"Hmm, let me see. I got my trap, basket and some stones to make a fire. Nice, everything's ready, let's go!." With the fish trap on her shoulder and her fruit basket, she enthusiastically stepped into the forest.

This time, she might not return to the river.

"La~la~la~ Who runs the world? Girls! Who runs the world? Girls! La~la~la."

Daisy wandered for a long time, occasionally picking fruits or nuts on her way and replenishing her empty basket. As she continued on her journey, she grew increasingly worried as she had not found any signs of a village or any inhabitants of this strange world.

"What if, I'm the only one human in this world." She raised her head and looked at the suns above the canopy of the trees. From the light shining through the trees, she realized a problem.

"It's going to be evening soon."

The thought of being isolated without a sense of civilization was concerning to her, making her feel vulnerable and uneasy. "I need to find a cave."

She grew more and more anxious as she searched, hoping to at least find some indication of a settlement or a small cave before the suns sets.

Unfortunately, luck was not on her side this time.

With no good signs in sight, her mood dropped. She sat down under a huge banyan tree to rest, her feet hurts after walking for so long. Despite wrapping her feet with layers of leaves, blisters had started to appear on her feet.

"Ow" She felt pain and aggrieved. Although she was not a spoiled woman in modern times, she was still a weak woman. She started to sob. "Wuuuu....I want to go home. Mom, dad, I miss yo - oh, nevermind."

Her birth parents had abandoned her in front of an old orphanage when she was just five years old. Despite trying her best to get adopted, none of the couple who came to the orphanage chose her.

If it weren't for a man who adopted her as an exchange for saving him during a heart attack, she would have been staying in that place for lifetime.

Thinking of it, Daisy sniffed and cried harder. She hated her birth parents but also longed for their love. Her adopted father took care of her, but he did not considered her as his own daughter.

It always pained her heart, knowing that she would never experience the love of a parent.

Her cries stopped when she felt hunger pangs in her stomach. "My stomach is more important than them." She ate the fruits with a red nose, feeling silly and helpless. "I think I'm going crazy."

She hadn't thought of her adopted father after he had chased her out of the house on her 19th birthday.

She sighed and raised her head, silently admiring the beautiful banyan tree and the shade it provided her. "Mr Banyan tree, I don't know if you can hear me."

Great, she's now speaking to a tree.

"I, I don't know why I'm here. And what this new world means for my future." She closed her eyes, letting the warmth and comfort of the tree wash over her like a soothing blanket.

"But give me courage and strength. To live long without any worries." She smiled wryly and continued eating her fruits, her grievance reduced by half.

"Screw everyone, I love myself."

Behind the banyan tree, a gigantic snake slithered up, quietly and carefully making its way to a suitable location to sit down on.

Just when it found a thick branch to lay on, the support under it suddenly snapped. Its golden pupils shrunk, and before it could react, the branches broke and it fell down.

"Hisssss!"

Below, Daisy stood up and got ready to move when the leaves of the banyan tree began to fall all around her.

"Is the tree blessing me?!" Excited, she looked up to see a large black snake clumsily hanging on few branches before falling down in front of her with a heavy and loud *Boom*.

"Ahh!" Its fall caused her to suddenly float in the air for a second, nearly sending her toppling down to the ground. She froze in shock, her eyes widening as a pair of massive cold blooded golden pupils stared back at her.

Although she liked snakes, the condition was that they should be small and cute. However, the one in front of her was neither small, nor cute!

Its huge size and greater length than a python was enough to give her the creeps, regardless of whether its intentions are good or bad!

She knew escaping was impossible, the sight of the massive snake slithering toward her was enough to provoke a feeling of pure panic.

Overwhelmed by horror and anxiety, her brain instinctively shut down, causing her to roll her eyes and faint.
