Love from Beyond

Chapter 6: stolen glances

her husband whose name she had no idea about only to find him staring back at her and she immediately felt goosebumps form underneath her dress. Before she could ask him of his name, her maid Betty rushed towards her and tugged her along.

The moment Liana left the garden and into the castle she saw her Aunty, Claudia, standing in the main hall.

Claudia was her Father's older sister, she was supposed to be the heir to the throne of Ravens peak but because she was born a woman, her rights were passed down to her younger brother Reginald as angered she was all those years ago

she later learnt to swallow the hard pill of she not being the ruler of Ravens peak. When she discovered that the King of Vladkarya had killed her nephew Lucas, and had agreed for a peace treaty to be signed under the condition of getting married to the daughter of the royal family,

she had happily arrived at the castle to brainwash her brother into allowing her daughter, Catherine, to marry the king of Vladkarya instead of his dearest little Liana.

But the moment she arrived at the castle grounds, she discovered she was a day too late as the wedding had already started. Which seemed odd to her, as she had calculated that the wedding would take place in some weeks time and not this early what had truly transpired in the castle.

"You look really pretty, my darling niece" Aunt Claudia spoke, trying her hardest to mask her disappointment and anger. Liana smiled at her aunt as she curtsied towards her

" Thank you aunt Claudia" Liana calmly responded " Is Catherine here with you?"

Claudia flashed a smile at her ever foolish and gullible niece " No dear, she couldn't travel under such harsh weather" she said the last word a little too dramatically,

Claudia casually moved towards her niece and whispered so that it was only both of them that could hear what she was saying

" Liana dear, you will have to fulfill your duty to your kingdom and to your family also. Even if he doesn't consider you as his wife and only considers you as a means to strengthen the alliance on his part, I hope you can try your best to strengthen the alliance on our part too. I hope you understand" Claudia casually cleared her throat

"if you can't strengthen the alliance in less than two months, your marriage to the King will be annulled and I believe you know what that means right?"

She looked at Liana with a little glint in her eyes "Although I can tell that you were forced into this union, I also know that you hate him for killing your brother and turning you into a sacrificial lamb, I understand if you wouldn't want to go through with it. If you feel you can't handle the heat and the pressure, don't be scared okay? Feel free to ask for my help and I'd gladly help you"

and with that Claudia flashed her niece a smile before making her way towards the garden to meet her brother, King Reginald.

She had just married a man she had no idea about, a man who had killed her brother, a man who had countless amount of blood on his hands and now she was expected to hurry up and give the kingdoms a baby?, a baby?,

Isn't she giving up her happiness and freedom enough to seal the deal why were they asking for so much from her, thank the goddess for blessing her with an understanding aunt. Liana wondered to herself

Betty nudged Lianas "My princess are you all right?, Don't let your aunt's words get to you okay, I'm sure the goddesses would bless your union in less time" the maid chimed happily, while Liana stared into space.

A guard rushed towards the duo " Your highness, The King of Vladkarya, your husband would like to have a word with you" Betty looked at her princess who still seemed distracted by the words her aunt had spoken to her

" Tell him, she'll be with him once she has changed into clothes fit for their journey" Betty responded as she gently pulled Liana towards the stairs thereby freeing Liana from her thoughts " we must make haste my princess, you would be leaving with your husband in less than an hour's time".

When Liana was fully ready for her journey to her husband's kingdom she went back to the garden to speak with her mother. Wen she got to the garden she noticed how empty it had become except for the strangers. Her husband and her parents were standing at the dais having a serious conversation

the moment she stole a glance at her husband, his dark red eyes met her blue eyes and their eyes locked.
