Luisa and the Witcher

Chapter 15: Sparring with Zeke

When she got there, she saw that Gideon has overpowered Heron, his blade at his throat as Heron knelt in front of him backing Gideon.

"Heron?" Luisa muttered softly. It was truly him, she can't believe he was still alive...

Gideon?

"What do you think you are doing, Gideon? Let go of him right now," she demanded but Gideon only flashed a sinister smile at her pressing the blade even closer to Heron's neck.

"I said let go of him, let's get the hell out of here. What sort of madness have come over you this time, that's Heron you idiot!" she continued but Gideon didn't respond nor did he budge from his position.

Luisa charged at him and in one flash he split Heron's throat. Blood splash out of his neck at once as he fell lifelessly on the ground.

"No!" Luisa yelled as she fell to her kneels in front of Heron's body.

"No, Heron..." she wailed in tears.

With clenched teeth and fists, she slowly turned to Gideon. She felt like ripping him apart, he smirked at her vulnerability.

"Never get attached, it makes you weak and you are weak," he blurted and started to run deeper into the forest, Luisa ran after him.

The chase was endless as they were both fast runners. They continued running until they got to a particular place. Luisa stopped in her pace taken aback by the scene in front of her.

'What is this?' she asked herself. 'Was this...was this a...dream?'

She was back at her clan, on the day the vampires attacked them. She saw as her people fought endlessly not wanting to accept defeat.

Gideon was no where to be found, she found her world turning upsidedown, spinning and it was as if no one noticed her presence.

"Aurora?!" she heard her father call her mother's name. She turned to the direction, her mother had already been stabbed with the blade of one of the vampires from behind.

Her father was being held by two hefty vampires as he was forced to watch the death of his beloved. The vampire who stabbed her mother even went as far as to slice her from the spot he stabbed her to her head, releasing his blade in a eyesore manner.

Her mother fell to the ground unmoving, she watched as her father struggled to release himself from the hold of the vampires. Luisa felt herself being ripped apart over and over again by this scene.

She fell to her kneels in anguish gripping the earth with her hand feeling a sudden feeling of defeat and helplessness, she let out screams that became void in the air to the ears, voiceless and inaudible.

"Luisa...Luisa...Luisa?!" an almost inaudible voice echoed in the dark and lonely world. She held on to the voice as if it was the last trace of light... light of hope.

"Luisa...wake up?" the voice said. Luisa slowly opened her eyes and Gideon's face appeared in her vision.

"Are you okay?" he asked. She had been crying and struggling in her sleep. Worried, he started to shake her out of her nightmare. Luisa sat up and pushed him away from her immediately, his red eyes freaked her out. Gideon was not too shocked by her actions towards him, she hasn't really accepted him as a friend yet.

'So it was another nightmare,' she thought.

But this was more than a nightmare, it was a glimpse of how her parents had died. But how come she is seeing this in her dreams, they weren't memories as she had never witness her parents' death.

It was already dawn and so she dashed out of the room towards the washing room.

Picking up the items, she entered into one of the bathroom stalls.

It's been two days since Zeke and her returned from Fernandel. 'Two days since they kissed,' a voice echoed inside of her. Blood rushed to her cheeks as she recalled that memory, her fingers reaching for her lips.

Thinking of him alone was enough to make her day, enough to remove the traces of the nightmares from her mind. Even though he had told her to forget about her feelings for him, she still thought of him the same way and she wasn't ready to let go of the only blissful feeling in her life.

When she was done freshening up, she went straight to the sparring room for swords. She picked up a sword and started sparring alone. She continued to spar for more than a hour, her movements becoming even more fierce as her mind started to drift to her dreams.

The more she remembered, the angrier she became. Why?

Just why was she having these dreams, was is trauma or was it a sign for something? Why was Gideon in her dream today? She had so many questions yet not so many answers to the questions.

"You are becoming pretty wicked with a sword," that all too familiar deep voice echoed in her ears. She saw him walking gracefully towards her, she hadn't seen him since the day they returned, it was like he left kimoira that same day.

"Isn't it pretty lonely to practice alone, c'mon... let's spar together," he suggested picking up a sword.

'Sparring with Zeke, there's a challenge,' she thought as she knew he was one of the best swordsmen she has ever known.

"Scared?" he teased her knowing she would never admit she was scared.

"No, just thinking of a image of you crying once I beat your ass," she replied and Zeke chuckled.

"In your dreams, shortie. You should feel honored, you are about to spar with one of the best swordsmen, better pick up a few skills and lesso-" he was cut short by Luisa who launched her blade at him and he defended himself with his own.

"Tsk tsk tsk, lesson number one don't always fight with anger. When angry act don't react," he advised.

"Better fierce than dead," she replied.

"That was pretty sick and sly of you. You got me monologuing," Zeke responded and Luisa gave her head a little shake as she smiled.

"I don't do foreplay," she grinned at him and retreated her sword from him, he swing his sword and lashed at her and she blocked it skillfully with hers.

"You don't. Well, I love foreplay," he told.

"Foreplay, is too torturous and time consuming," she said and he smirked.

In one go, he clashed with her sword sending her a few feet backwards. "What got you so pissed off this morning?" he asked.

"Nothing," she replied coming back at him and he blocked her attack once more like the pro he was. He scoffed and knocked her down in a way that she landed on her behind. She gritted her teeth and he scoffed again.

"I yield," He said.

"Huh? Who said you were allowed to yield?" Luisa frowned.

"You skipped breakfast to train when you people are still on your time off. Luisa, i can read you like an open book. What's wrong?" he continued.

"It's truly nothing, just some stupid dream," she responded and he heaved a sigh.

"I respect your decision if you don't want to tell me but please, whatever it is... don't let it bother you," he replied and she nodded.

"I...I heard from some witchers in our quarters that we'll be doing the trial of the grasses pretty soon," she uttered, more like inquiring for confirmation.

"Yes, and soon is tomorrow," Zeke replied her. Her countenance change a little. Was she really ready for this? The final stage of becoming a witcher.

Lost in thoughts, she didn't realize when Zeke moved closer to her. She only realize when she felt his touch, her heart skipped a beat recognizing his touch even before she did, his touch that felt like a burning lava, yet it also gave her a soothing sensation, it was like a touch of both light and darkness.

Her eyes met his as his fingers brought strands of hair to behind her ear, he cupped her cheek and tilted his head to the side a little.

"Are you nervous?" he asked but she just stared at him as she really was kind of anxious now.

"You don't have to be. Being a witcher doesn't mean you will stop being an elf. It doesn't stop you from being who you are or who you want to be. It's what you do that truly defines you," he continued and she smiled.

Sometimes she can't believe that such words of wisdom can come out of this brazen man. He has been in this world longer than her and has been through a lot and has seen a lot, it was only natural.

"I am going to be there with you till the end and I'm not going to leave your side," he continued.

Luisa nodded and slowly removed her cheek from his hand.

"I want to rest now, I'll be in my cot," she excused herself and began to walk away after keeping the sword, her heart pounding so loudly.

'Stupid organ,' she cursed within her.

It just keeps beating for him without her permission. Maybe he was what was actually wrong with her, he doesn't want her feelings for him to flourish yet how does he expects her not to keep falling deeper for him.

When he continues to say words like that, when he cares like that knowing and not acknowledging how she feels for him, was he toying with her.

She loved the way he cared and she didn't want him to go back to when he was still so strict and indifferent with her but this also was too much to bear.
