Luisa and the Witcher

Chapter 22: Lunch

Both girls followed the butler as he led the way to master Maximilian's drawing room. He knocked and opened the door when he heard his master's voice gesturing them to come in, the girls walked in but the butler didn't. He just shut the door and walked away to fulfill his other duties.

"Luisa...Sorry for keeping you waiting," Maximilian apologized.

"No, not at all. I actually really enjoyed Lindsey's company," Luisa replied.

"Is that so?" he responded and she nodded.

"Father may I stay here...I might be of help," Lindsey requested.

"Hmm...okay," he agreed and Lindsey sreamed within her, surprised and happy her father agreed.

"Be of help, not a distraction," came the comeback and Lindsey became muted immediately.

"Have a seat Luisa," he offered and Luisa sat on a chair opposite him as a table separated them, but Lindsey remained standing.

"Luisa, we really wouldn't do much today. I just want to get to know you, to know your abilities and capabilities as an elf...of course, Zeke has told me much about you, but I just want to hear it from the horse's mouth," he started.

"Uh-okay, uhm...well as you might know already, I'm a mixed breed-"

"You're one of a kind, Luisa, please continue?" Maximilian cuts in.

"Well, uhm...I-I really don't know how to start. Why don't we do it like this? You ask me questions and I answer?" she suggested. "Okay. So, what can you do as an elf? Because now you're more of a witcher than an elf," Maximilian inquired.

"Well, even before I became a witcher...I was still extra strong like how an elf is supposed to be, I could heal fast, I had fast reflexes...uhm. Like I was saying earlier, I'm a mixed breed.

"Half high elf, half wood elf. There are three major things an elf should know...what makes an elf- An elf. One, knowledge and abilities to carry out elven magic, two-ability to unlock your secret weapon and use your life energy to create and control it, I can't do any.

"And three, to activate your special abilities. Special abilities like in my case, I'm supposed to know either how to understand and control plants and animals or how to control light or both...but I can't," Luisa explained.

"For someone who lacks the major abilities, you still know a lot about it," Lindsey chimed in.

"My parents taught me all the knowledge I needed to know before they passed away, but not much practical things," Luisa replied.

"But something happened yesterday..." Luisa continued after some while, trailing off.

"What happened?" both father and daughter responded in one accord, intrigued.

"Yesterday, when Zeke and I were returning from your mansion...we decided to stop by the woods to go for a hunt for protege lessons. We- Actually I, started fighting with a wolf we lured out and when I hurt it, I actually heard it talk. After recovering from the shock, I talked to it. It understood me and I- It." Luisa elaborated.

"Wow...that's so cool," Lindsey exclaimed. "Lindsey?" Maximilian corrected his daughter. "Sorry father," Lindsey apologized.

"Luisa, it's a good start," Maximilian continued.

"But the ability is gone. I couldn't do it again when I tried, with hope I secretly even tried with plant and also to create light but, still nothing," Luisa replied in a disappointing tone. "You don't have to push yourself too much, things like these...happen slowly with much practice and attempts. We'll start with teaching you all about elven magic and how to practice it, it will be of help to you as a field woman...in battlefield I meant," Maximilian urged.

"But not today Luisa, next time. Today, why don't we go have some lunch?" he offered. "No, thank you I'm good," Luisa objected. "C'mon Luisa. Please join us, I promise you're not going to regret it," Lindsey pleaded.

"Okay," Luisa agreed, she didn't know how to tell this girl no just yet.

"Alright then. Let's go," Maximilian stood up and headed for the door as the girls followed suit.

Soon, they were are seated at a dinning table surrounded by chairs which was located at their garden as they had a light lunch of snacks, tea and dessert. The atmosphere around them was comfortable and lively as they talked about random things.

After they were done with the meal, Lindsey took Luisa upstairs to her room.

"You have a very beautiful room here," Luisa complimented.

"Thanks," Lindsey replied as she slumped on her king size bed. She tapped on the other side of the bed gesturing Luisa to come join her.

Luisa did, "Don't worry, I'm going to also give you private lessons so that you can acquire your abilities faster," Lindsey started.

"Thanks. Do you have all your abilities now?" Luisa asked.

"Yes. My weapon is a twin blade, I know and can practice elven magic and I can make this room brighter if I wanted to," Lindsey replied.

"Wow, I'm so envious," Luisa responded.

"(Chuckles) I'm even more envious of you, Luisa. You are such a free young woman, didn't you see how my father was just reprimanding me at every little thing I do?

"I'm sick of it, it's like I'm not good enough no matter how hard I try or how submissive I am and he's not like that with you or other people...it just makes it worse." Lindsey complained.

"I'm sure he has a good reason for acting that way. He's your father, he wants the best for you and he wouldn't hurt or mean to hurt you," Luisa found herself trying to comfort Lindsey.

"If he truly cares and loves me, he should stop belittling me and treating me as if I'm a total disappointed of a lady and child.

"(Mimicks her father)... Lindsey act lady-like, Lindsey eat properly, Lindsey don't slouch, Lindsey sit straight, Lindsey have some dignity, Lindsey be polite... Lindsey this, Lindsey that, I'm sick of it and one day I'm going to say all these to his face." Lindsey continued and both girls started laughing.

"I'm sure he didn't mean to make you feel this way. He truly cares about you and wants to groom you up to become the perfect lady," Luisa added.

"Ha, you sound like my father right now," Lindsey responded and they both chuckled again.

"You should be glad you still have your father. (In a low tone) Some of us don't," Luisa uttered remembering her parents.

"(Sighs) I know and I do love my father don't get me wrong...It's just-Hmm! You know what let's keep that aside. You want to see something cool?" Lindsey asked.

"Sure," Luisa responded.

"Fire is also a part of light and therefore the high elves can also control and create it, did you know that?" Lindsey asked.

"Yes. Can you do it?" Luisa inquired and just immediately a fire ball appeared floating in Lindsey's hand.

"Wow, it's...It's amazing," Luisa mentioned and Lindsey smiled, extinguishing the fire.

"Some witchers can also do that. I can't but Zeke can," Luisa added.

"Zeke huh? You say his name so freely without a title," Lindsey pointed out.

"That was what he told me to call him when we first met," Luisa replied.

"Okay." Lindsey nodded.

The carriage came to pick Luisa up later in the evening. She bid Lindsey goodbye and got in. The coachman started the carriage immediately. Luisa knocked on the carriage window leading to the coachman.

"Yes, miss? Do you need anything?" he asked. "Not really...I just wanted to ask you if Zeke was home yet?" she questioned.

"No miss," the coachman answered.

"Oh, okay," she responded.

They finally arrived at the mansion, Luisa opened the carriage door by herself without waiting for the coachman to open it for her. She walked into the mansion and was welcomed by the butler who was close by.

"What will you like to have for dinner? Or do you want to wait till master Zeke comes?" the butler asked.

"No, none. I'll just go upstairs, I'm really tired," Luisa replied.

"Okay, if you say so," the butler uttered.

Luisa climbed the stairs and went to Zeke's room. She didn't do much things today but she was just tired, all she wanted right now was a nice warm bath and then she'll go to bed.

She put off her clothes, after she was done preparing the warm scented bath and she climbed into the tub feeling her body relax immediately to the scented steam.

Zeke arrived at his mansion later. The coachman opened the door for his master and Zeke came out of it.

It was late, most of the servants had already retired for the night except the butler and a few maids he chose along with him to welcome his master.

"What would you like me to do for you, master Zeke?" the butler asked as he collected Zeke's coat.

"Nothing, I'm good. You should all get some rest now," Zeke replied leaving his servants a little puzzled at his response.

Zeke on the other hand just went upstairs. He was dying to see his little shortie.
