Luisa and the Witcher

Chapter 24: One-sided

As they came out of the room, Zeke continued to hold her hand...not aggressively but gentle and firm. Most of the lanterns and chandeliers lilted with candle lights were already extinguishing.

But apart from being a vampire and an elf, their witcher nature made them to see clearly in the dim light.

Luisa didn't ask him further but just let him lead the way. They got to a door, it wasn't double but it was large and it wasn't that far from Zeke's room. He opened it as it wasn't locked. They walked in and that was when he let go of her hand and shut the door.

It was a room, it wasn't as big as Zeke's but it was still big with a king size bed, there was no balcony, just a double large window frame and the room was neat. Luisa's eyes screened through the room not understanding what was going on.

"Why are you showing me this room?" she asked.

"(Sighs) Luisa, from now on whenever we come to fernandel, you'll sleep in this room. Do you like it?" he inquired, managing to force a small smile at the last part.

"Why?, I'm okay with sharing a room with you," she objected.

"Luisa! It'll be best if we sleep in separate rooms from now on," he told.

"Why?!" She responded, her eyes already clouding with tears.

"Luisa don't! Don't do that," he said referring to her crying.

"Well I can't help it, okay?! I can't, I'm in love with you!" she yelled at him.

"Yes I said it out loud this time. I am madly in love with you, I don't know how it happened. All I know is that I love you Zeke. Why...W-Why are you pushing me away? Why do you kiss me with such strong intimate feelings and still push me away?

"Is it because I'm just fourteen. (Moves closer to him) Zeke I'll wait, I'll wait till I'm old enough for you. Is it because of my background? Is it because I'm an elf? Or am I not attractive enough for you? Just tell me, Zeke," she bowed her head a little, in tears.

Zeke sighed; this emotional shortie of his was such an handful. He moved closer to her and held her arms.

"Luisa?" he called. "Luisa look at me!"

She raised her head to look at him, "Shut up!" he told her.

"Just shut up," he added.

"I'm not pushing you away because of any of those reasons. (Huffs) My ugly shortie, you're the only beautiful person in my eyes no one else. No one else is as adorable and beautiful as you are.

"Don't give much meaning to the kiss, that would be the last time we'll ever do that. This isn't going to go anywhere, the earlier you realize, accept and get over it the better for you," he expressed.

"I would do and give anything to see you smile," he continued.

"Do you think by pushing me away, you're putting a smile on my face," she replied.

"(Smirks) There are different ways to do that without even you knowing. I'm not the man for you and you'll understand that someday," he responded.

"And who are you to know and tell me that?" she asked.

"(Sighs) Luisa, this will be the last time I'll have this conversation with you. Go to bed, we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow, we'll be leaving for kimoira. I was called upon for a special mission," he informed.

Luisa sniffed and wiped her tears. Was love always this painful? Maybe it is, when it's one-sided. What was wrong with her? She was always a different person in front of this man. She didn't want to imagine how pathetic she may look or he may think of her.

Zeke also wanted her to get over him already, he didn't like how much this was hurting her, but it was her fault for falling. Luisa sat on the already neatly prepared bed;

"I want to see Lindsey before we go," she requested.

"Is there really any need for that? We'll return as soon as possible as if we never left," he responded.

"You may never know. I just want to see her before we leave, please?" she pleaded.

This was going to be her first real mission with Zeke, she wasn't scared or nervous, she just wanted to see Lindsey's face before they leave. Zeke just wondered when both girls got that close.

"Fine," he agreed reluctantly and started to leave the room.

"Zeke?" Luisa called and he halted but didn't turn to face her.

"No matter what you say. I'll wait... I'm going to wait for you no matter how long it takes," she announced.

He just left as he was short of comebacks.

The next day morning, they had a quiet meal and left for the reigns after that. The ride was also quiet, neither of them spoke to each other not until the carriage stopped and Zeke looked out through the carriage window, then he broke the silence;

"We're here," he announced and the coachman opened the carriage door for them and they climbed out.

...

"Promise you'll be back soon," Lindsey repeated for a thousand time.

"Yes, I promise," and Luisa also replied her every time.

After having a quick tea inside the mansion with the reigns, Luisa and Zeke were now outside the reigns' mansion with the reigns.

They were about to leave right now, Luisa was bidding Lindsey her final farewells while Zeke was having a little talk with Mr. Reign, close to the carriage as he waited for Luisa.

He and Mr. Reign were talking about Luisa, Zeke's eyes stole a glance at her. Luisa felt his gaze on her and she turned to stare back, she flashed a small smile at him when their eyes met and turned to Lindsey again who now had a smug look on her pretty face.

"What?" Luisa asked.

"You like him don't you?" she stated.

"He's my mentor. I do admire him a lot," Luisa replied.

"You know that's not what I'm talking about. I see the way you look and talk about him," Lindsey responded. Luisa didn't reply but she only smiled.

"Well, good luck. And..." she trailed off as she held Luisa's hands.

"Be safe," she added and they hugged.

They entered the carriage again and headed for kimoira. The journey to kimoira was also quiet, it wasn't awkward... just...quiet.

The carriage rode pass the mighty gates of kimoira and didn't stop until it got to the tall tower-like building where Nuka, the leader of witchers was.

Luisa didn't miss this place that much, but even though it only held painful memories, it was still her...home, where she belonged with her witcher and mage brothers. They climbed out of the carriage;

"Wait here," Zeke told as he walked into the building.

As Luisa waited, the young mage Carter Arthur came to her.

"Luisa?" he called and she turned towards him.

"Carter..." Luisa responded.

"Saw you from a far, where have you been?" he asked.

"Away," she replied simply.

"I know. I guess with a mentor like him, we're not going to be seeing much of you," he noted referring to Zeke. Just then, Gideon and Hallard came out of the building.

"Luisa..." Gideon muttered a little surprised to see her, but they did come across Zeke inside.

"Beautiful...where have you been?" Hal gestured.

"Guys, it's only been days. Stop acting as if it's been forever," she mentioned.

"Days seems like forever without you hothead," Hal continued, she didn't forget how annoying he was.

"You look like a ghost," she said to Hal.

"Haha, I can see that your mentor is treating you well," he replied sarcastically. He looked around, then leaned in;

Mine's a total pain in the ass," he added.

"So what brings you and the senior witcher here today?" Gideon finally spoke.

"Well, we were summoned for a delicate mission," she answered.

"Oh..." Hal responded. Then some witchers brought in two neat horses, one black and the other dark brown. Then Zeke came out of the building.

"Time to go, shortie," Zeke informed.

"Shortie?" Carter muttered.

"Yeah, just a nickname he calls her," Hal replied him.

"Okay," she responded and Zeke came close to the black horse and so, she concluded it was the dark brown she would be ridding.

They were both wearing fury coats in their attire. Zeke's sword was sheathed at his side while Luisa also carried her quiver of arrows at her back with her adjustable bow by her side.

"Wait here," Zeke told the coachman.

They were about to mount, when Carter held Luisa's hand.

"Be careful," he told, worriedly and Luisa nodded. He continued to hold her hand and signalled her to mount as he supported her. Luisa flash him a small smile.

"That would be all, mage," Zeke blurted as he collected Luisa's hand from him.

"Mount," he said to Luisa.
