Mangaka in the StrawHats

Chapter 281: Chapter 280

The enormous whirlpool stretched across the ocean, its turbulent waters spinning for dozens of miles, with no visible end in sight. The force of the swirling water was overwhelming, a natural colossus that seemed to defy reason.

The Going Merry was now positioned dangerously close to the eye of the whirlpool, its bow pointed toward the churning vortex. If the crew had chosen to go in the opposite direction at full speed, they might have escaped the whirlpool's grip. But instead, they did the opposite.

The Going Merry was charging directly toward the heart of the whirlpool.

On deck, Logan and Nami both summoned their Clow Shields at the same time, their movements synchronized as they prepared for what lay ahead.

Two shimmering layers of energy formed around the ship, encasing it in protective barriers.

"We're going in!!" Luffy shouted excitedly.

The light around them dimmed as the Going Merry was pulled into the spiraling waves. It felt as though they had entered a tunnel, the walls of water towering around them like a vertical ocean. The ship was propelled forward by the current, riding along the sides of the tunnel with the grace of an acrobat, much like a motorcyclist performing a daring stunt by climbing walls and rooftops.

"This whirlpool is way too big to be natural!" Robin exclaimed, her voice filled with awe.

"Could Logan's guess be right? Are we dealing with a creature this enormous?" Usopp wondered, his eyes wide with both excitement and nervousness.

"That's a dumb question," Zoro scoffed. "Remember Zou? If a giant elephant can exist, why not a creature this size?"

"Exactly!" Franky agreed, his mechanical arms crossed over his chest. "It could be a whale, a turtle, or even an octopus!"

"I'd prefer it to be a whale," Luffy added with a grin, always excited by the thought of a new sea creature.

The crew continued to chat, their voices echoing through the tunnel as the Going Merry was carried deeper into the vortex. Minutes passed as they rode the waves, their hearts racing with anticipation of what might await them on the other side.

Then, in an instant, the darkness gave way to light.

Ahead of them, the tunnel opened up, and the Going Merry shot out of the whirlpool, flying through the air before landing gracefully in what appeared to be a vast ocean.

But this was no ordinary ocean. In front of them, an island loomed on the horizon, its size stretching far beyond what they could see.

"Ahhh!!! There's really an island!!" Usopp shouted in disbelief.

"Whoa! There's no end to this place! Are we still in the New World?" Sanji asked, scanning the horizon.

"That can't be possible! If we're still in the New World, then what about the whirlpool? Did we somehow end up in another world beneath the sea?" Chopper asked, his little face scrunched in confusion.

Zoro grinned. "Maybe Logan was right after all. We might be inside some giant sea creature!"

"Wait, hold on!" Nami suddenly frowned, raising a hand and pointing upwards. "If we're inside a creature, then what's the deal with all this sunlight?"

"Drawn…?" Usopp said hesitantly, his mind flashing back to when they were inside Laboon and an old man had painted the sky on the whale's inner walls.

Duang!!

Before he could finish, Nami's fist landed on his head, leaving a sizable bump.

"Idiot!! This is real sunlight!" she scolded, stretching out her hand to feel the warmth of the sun's rays. The heat kissed her skin, a sensation impossible to fake.

In Laboon's belly, the sky had been a clever imitation, a painted illusion that gave the illusion of daylight. But this… this was real.

"It's definitely real," Franky confirmed, activating a meter on his mechanical body to analyze the sunlight's intensity. "The data doesn't lie."

Sanji stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Could it be that the whirlpool acted like some sort of transportation device? Maybe it transferred us from one sea area to another?"

"It's possible," Zoro replied, his mind already piecing together the puzzle.

Logan's eyes narrowed slightly as he considered Sanji's theory. It was plausible. But there was something that still didn't sit right with him.

"Wait a second…" Logan's voice trailed off as his brow furrowed in concentration. "This sunlight… it's artificial."

The crew turned to him, confused.

Without another word, Logan activated his Observation Haki, his senses stretching far beyond their immediate surroundings. His awareness expanded outward, reaching across the ocean and then beyond, until it hit something unexpected—the sky itself.

His eyes widened in realization.

"That's not a real sky," he muttered. "The dome above us… it's man-made."

"What?!" the crew gasped, their eyes turning upward once more.

Logan continued, his voice filled with wonder. "It's artificial sunlight, but it's so perfect that it mimics real sunlight down to the smallest detail. We're inside something much bigger than we thought."
