Chapter 14: Chapter 13: Saito’s frustration
In an instant, the skies and the earth of several streets in the Seireitei seemed to be divided into two realms of crimson light and a sea of blood!
The rubble of the houses, destroyed during the fierce battle between Araki and Yachiru Unohana, had disappeared into this overwhelming crimson and bloody glow.
It was as if the debris had melted into the radiant spectacle dominating the heavens and earth.
"We can't see anything! What on earth is happening over there?"
"Is this the power of the Captains' Bankai? The scale is far beyond my imagination."
"So, all the fighting up until now was just their warm-up?"
As the endless crimson light and sea of blood surged towards the Fifth Division members with visible intensity, the soldiers finally understood what their captain, Obana, had warned them about.
At that moment, their hearts were filled with nothing but awe—pure, overwhelming awe.
For the first time, they truly comprehended the immense power of Yachiru Unohana and the equally formidable Araki, who was nearly her equal in combat strength. They were like towering mountains, completely insurmountable by ordinary beings.
"Alright, you've now witnessed the strength of those two monsters. So, obediently head back to the Division headquarters, got it?"
As the crimson light and sea of blood approached their feet, Obana stood before his soldiers, shielding them with his immense spiritual pressure. It was as if he had transformed into an invisible wall, halting the encroaching chaos. Turning back to his subordinates with a calm smile, he spoke lightly.
""U-understood!""
The Fifth Division members immediately nodded, their eyes filled with gratitude. Without their captain's protection, they might have been consumed and assimilated by the overwhelming, healing-overload energy emanating from Unohana and Araki's Bankai clash.
"Well then, why are you still standing here? Go!"
At Obana's urging, the soldiers quickly snapped out of their shock, turning and dashing away at full speed. In that moment, his charisma imprinted itself deeply in their hearts.
It was the remarkable blend of incredible strength and personal charm possessed by the original Gotei 13 captains that allowed the Shinigami under their command to charge fearlessly into battle, disregarding the immense power of their enemies.
"Sigh…"
"Now, let's see how much destruction those two monsters will bring to the Seireitei."
"Haha, I have to admit—it's going to be interesting."
After his subordinates left, he cast one last glance at the distant, unrelenting battle between Araki and Unohana.
His gaze seemed to pierce through the crimson light and sea of blood, seeing the two figures relentlessly swinging their zanpakuto, each blow capable of delivering a lethal strike to the other.
Even someone as carefree as him couldn't help but wonder: with the emergence of such an uncontrollable force like Araki, how much of a shockwave would ripple through the vast Seireitei? Thinking of this, he laughed heartily and turned to leave.
The moment he left, the land he had protected was immediately swallowed by the crimson light and sea of blood.

Elsewhere, as Unohana and Araki unleashed their Bankai...
The other Division Captains, following orders from the Head Captain Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni, were also retreating to their respective Divisions with their subordinates.
Some had already returned to their barracks in the short time that had passed. After all, not every Shinigami in the Gotei 13 harbored the mindset, "If I can witness the truth today, I'll die content tomorrow."
Additionally, among the Gotei 13, captains like Obana—cheerful and approachable to their subordinates—were few and far between. Other Division Captains weren't nearly as lenient with their own squads.

Sixth Division Barracks
Bang!
With a loud kick, Saito violently slammed the barrack doors open, clearly in a foul mood.
"Ugh, this is infuriating."
"Absolutely infuriating…"
"That damn Araki! How dare he pick a fight with that wicked woman Unohana without saying a word to me?!"
"Seriously, if you'd just given me a heads-up, I could've prepared in advance... Then the two of us could've taken her down together, no problem."
As soon as she entered the barracks, she began pacing and ranting, her words full of anger and irritation.
"Captain, you're back?"
"What's happening with Captain Unohana's fight?"
"Who is this person capable of battling Captain Unohana? They must be incredibly strong."
"We can even feel the spiritual pressure from their clash all the way over here! And what's with that strange crimson glow in the sky?"
As soon as Saito returned, she was swarmed by her Sixth Division members, bombarding her with questions. Since she had forbidden her squad from investigating the fight themselves, they could only rely on her to satisfy their curiosity.
"I don't know! I don't know! I don't know.
"Stop asking me! I know nothing, okay?! I'm going to rest!"
"If you're so curious about what's happening over there or who that wicked woman Unohana is fighting, then go see for yourselves—if you're not afraid of dying."
Saito Fushin shouted in frustration, her temper flaring as she glared at her subordinates.
Without waiting for a response, she stormed into her captain's quarters and slammed the door shut with an ear-splitting bang!
—
"Uh…"
The Sixth Division members looked at each other awkwardly, realizing their captain was clearly not in the best mood.
"Who ticked off Captain Saito this time?"
They exchanged confused glances, but no one could come to a conclusion.
"Should we sneak over and take a look?"
One of the soldiers suggested hesitantly.
"Oh, come on! Didn't you hear what the captain just said? 'Go see for yourselves if you're not afraid of dying.' Knowing our Captain's tsundere personality..."
"That's basically her way of warning us that going there would be suicidal."
The suggestion was quickly shot down by another member, who knew Saito's personality all too well. Although the term "tsundere" wasn't commonly used in the Soul Society, her subordinates were all familiar with her stubborn and contradictory nature.
"You've got a point."
The soldiers nodded in agreement.
"Pfft…"
Suddenly, someone couldn't hold back a laugh, and soon the entire Sixth Division was filled with cheerful laughter.
—
"I HEARD THAT, YOU LITTLE BRATS!!"
Before they could finish laughing, the doors to the captain's quarters burst open. Saito reappeared, glaring at her subordinates with fiery eyes.
"You think you've got time to laugh? Go swing your swords 10,000 times! No one's resting until you're done!"
"W-what?! Captain, no! Swinging 10,000 times is torture."
"Ugh… Fine, let's get it over with."
"Wait, don't run off without me!"
Despite their complaints, none of them dared disobey Saito's orders. Grabbing their training swords, they rushed to the dojo.
—
Sigh...
"A bunch of troublemaking brats."
Watching her squad shuffle off to the dojo, Saito let out a long sigh. Strangely, after yelling at them, her frustration seemed to have lessened, leaving her feeling much lighter.
—
Back in her quarters, Saito leaned against the door and muttered softly to herself.
"Araki, you big idiot... You'd better win."
"No matter what, you can't lose to that wicked woman, Unohana."
