Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Peter Parker

Midnight had come, yet the grand pirate ship of the Whitebeard Pirates was still alive with celebration. The pirates drank heartily from beer mugs larger than their faces, each gulp draining nearly half a mug.

As the beer went down, a faint golden glow radiated from their bodies before quickly being absorbed. This wasn't ordinary beer—it had been infused with Senzu beans by Han Yu. While preserving its taste, the beer also healed their injuries. For a feast of thousands, Han Yu had only used two Senzu beans. Any more, and the pirates wouldn't have been able to eat anything else.

On the quiet mast above, Wanda stood alone, letting the breeze brush against her face.

Han Yu climbed up to the mast and pulled a coat from his system's storage. He draped it gently over her shoulders.

"Why aren't you down there having fun? Pietro's having the time of his life."

Han Yu glanced toward the deck where Quicksilver was using his super speed to play games with the pirates. His speed, beyond their comprehension, amazed and delighted them.

"I just wanted a moment of peace. It's too noisy down there for me," Wanda said, curling up in the warmth of the coat.

Han Yu tilted his head, studying her. "What's on your mind?"

Wanda stared into the distance, her thoughts elsewhere. "A few days ago, Pietro and I were just drifting, barely scraping by, not knowing why we were even alive. Now, out of nowhere, I've become someone who can decide the fate of others like a god."

Han Yu nodded and added, "I know you and your brother have a grudge against Tony Stark. I wasn't involved, and I don't want to moralize. I'll just say this: those things weren't entirely his fault. And now, he's fighting for peace—for Earth."

Wanda seemed surprised that Han Yu would bring up Iron Man, Tony Stark. After a moment of silence, she replied, "The current me could probably kill him with ease, couldn't I?"

"You could," Han Yu admitted. "But I'd hate to see you go down that path."

Wanda sighed deeply and, after some thought, said, "If Stark keeps making weapons for war, I might kill him. But when I saw him carrying a nuclear bomb into space to save Earth... I don't want to forgive him, but I don't hold any grudge against him anymore. Let's leave it at that."

"I'm glad you've come to terms with it..."

Before Han Yu could finish, Wanda leaned into him, resting her head against his chest.

Han Yu froze, catching the faint scent of her hair. He said nothing, gently holding her in return.

Wanda lifted her head, her gaze soft and filled with emotion. In the next moment, she kissed him, leaving Han Yu momentarily stunned.

In an instant, the two found themselves back in the general store, inside Han Yu's room.

And then...

A sleepless night followed.

The next day, sunlight streamed through the window. Wanda's long eyelashes fluttered slightly as Han Yu slowly opened his eyes.

Yawning, he sat up and noticed Wanda lying beside him, her bare shoulders peeking out from the blanket. A beam of sunlight fell across her pale face, making her look even more beautiful.

"Last night, we..."

Memories of the previous night's passion surfaced, bringing a small smile to Han Yu's lips. He gently tucked the blanket around Wanda before getting out of bed to dress and prepare lunch.

As he stepped out of the room and headed downstairs, he found Quicksilver sprawled in a starfish position on the floor, surrounded by several empty beer barrels.

"Pietro, don't tell me you spent the whole night here."

Han Yu crouched down, patting Quicksilver's cheek. Pietro didn't even open his eyes, muttering in his sleep, "Drink... keep drinking... anyone who doesn't drink is a coward..."

"How much did you drink?"

Han Yu shook his head in exasperation. Using Green Lantern energy, he lifted Pietro and carried him to his room before heading to the kitchen.

Judging by Pietro's state, he wouldn't wake up anytime soon, so Han Yu prepared lunch for just himself and Wanda.

As he finished cooking and was about to serve the meal, he felt something soft press against his back, accompanied by a gentle voice in his ear.

"You're up early..."

The voice sent a pleasant shiver down Han Yu's spine. Turning around, he saw Wanda.

She was wearing one of his white shirts, slightly oversized on her petite frame, making her look even smaller. Her loosely draped hair over her shoulders added an extra touch of feminine charm.

"Have some lunch; it's already noon."

Wanda's tender gaze seemed to draw Han Yu in, trapping him in her eyes. Feeling flustered, he quickly looked away, picked up the food, and walked out of the room.

Watching Han Yu's slightly awkward retreat, Wanda pursed her rosy lips and smiled faintly. In that moment, she realized Han Yu wasn't as mysterious as she had thought.

At least in this aspect, he was still very much like a shy young boy.

After lunch, Wanda took the initiative to handle the dishes. "Leave these to me," she said with a smile. "You worked hard last night. Go rest for a while."

Han Yu chuckled wryly. Can you stop being so effortlessly charming? Don't you know how captivating you are?

Just as he was about to sprawl out on the sofa in the main hall, a soft chime echoed in the air, like a wind chime stirred by a gentle breeze.

As mentioned before, the intensity of the wind chime's sound depended on the strength of the visitor. The stronger they were, the faster the chime rang. Judging by its moderate pace, it seemed the guest wasn't particularly powerful.

"Han Yu! Are you here?"

A boy of about fifteen or sixteen stood at the counter in the downstairs general store, calling out Han Yu's name impatiently.

"Coming, coming. What's the rush?"

Han Yu descended the stairs and raised an eyebrow upon seeing the boy. "Parker, why aren't you in school at this hour? What are you doing here?"

The visitor was none other than Peter Parker—Spider-Man himself. Of course, Han Yu's knowledge of him being Spider-Man came from his previous life. In this world, Peter was still just an ordinary high school student.

Han Yu had always been a fan of Spider-Man. After arriving in this world, he had once helped Peter Parker by chance. That encounter had made Peter Han Yu's first friend in this world.

As soon as Han Yu appeared, Peter dashed behind the store's door to ensure no one else was nearby. Then, with an excited expression, he ran back to Han Yu.

"That doesn't matter right now! Check this out!"

Before Han Yu could respond, Peter glanced around the store and approached a nearby crate. Wrapping his hands around it, he gave a slight heave and effortlessly lifted it.

Han Yu's eyes widened in shock. He knew exactly how heavy that crate was—it contained minerals he used for forging weapons and weighed a solid 400 kilograms!

For an ordinary person, lifting such a weight was impossible. For Peter Parker, a fifteen-year-old who barely weighed 50 kilograms himself, it was an outright miracle.

The only explanation was that he had been bitten by a mutated spider!

"What's going on with you?" Han Yu asked, narrowing his eyes.

Setting the crate back down, Peter walked over to Han Yu, his face glowing with excitement. "Impressive, right? It's a crazy story. A few days ago, my school went on a field trip to Oscorp—you know, Norman Osborn's company? He's the one who—"

"I know, I know. Get to the point."

Han Yu interrupted, steering Peter back on track. The boy had a habit of rambling and could easily veer off into unrelated tangents, talking endlessly.

"Oh, right. Almost forgot." Peter scratched his head sheepishly before continuing, "So, we were touring a lab where they do animal experiments, and suddenly, a spider dropped from the ceiling and bit me on the neck. The next day, I noticed my strength, speed, and reflexes had all improved beyond anything normal!"

Han Yu nodded as he pieced the story together. It matched perfectly with the Spider-Man origin he remembered from the iconic trilogy in his past life.

"Have you told anyone else about this?" Han Yu asked seriously.

"Just you. I haven't even told my classmates or Aunt May."

Peter's response was firm. In his eyes, the only person he could trust was the slightly older general store owner standing before him.

Telling his classmates would be risky—news among teenagers could spread like wildfire. Peter had no intention of becoming a lab rat.
