Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Truly a Dutiful Soul
Han Yu sincerely hoped Peter Parker would don the suit and become the true Spider-Man.
"This is... absolutely amazing!"
Peter couldn't help but marvel at the finished Spider-Man suit.
"Alright, take good care of this suit. It's dinner time—I'm heading out to eat. Are you coming?"
If Han Yu hadn't mentioned the time, Peter wouldn't have realized it was already 6 PM. After thinking for a moment, he called his Aunt May and told her that the school had an event tonight, so he wouldn't be home for dinner.
With her approval, he carefully packed away the Spider-Man suit, as happy as a child who had just received a new toy.
Han Yu stepped out of the room and shouted upstairs, "Wanda! Pietro! Time for dinner!"
"Wait, someone else lives here now?"
Peter, a little curious, asked. Previously, whenever he visited, it was always just Han Yu living alone.
Han Yu replied, "Yeah, my girlfriend and her brother moved in."
A voice responded from upstairs, and ten minutes later, Wanda came down alone.
Han Yu asked, "Where's Pietro? Still sleeping?"
Wanda shook her head helplessly. "He's awake, but he said he's going to hang out with Ace, so he won't join us for dinner."
That caught Han Yu off guard. He didn't expect Pietro and Ace to have grown so close.
"Alright then, just the three of us!"
Before leaving, Han Yu conjured a Green Lantern ring and sent it to Quicksilver via the system's teleportation feature.
It served two purposes: to enhance Pietro's ability to protect himself and to function as a communication tool.
At the back of the general store, Han Yu drove out a car. When Peter Parker saw it, his eyes widened in disbelief.
"Han Yu, this car... it must be worth at least tens of millions of dollars!"
Peter had seen this car online—it was ranked among the top 50 luxury cars globally, with a starting price of tens of millions of dollars. He couldn't believe Han Yu just casually brought it out.
Han Yu chuckled and said, "Like it? Once you're an adult, I'll give you one."
For Han Yu, money was as insignificant as dirt. Selling even a single Green Lantern ring could net him hundreds of billions. Even the most basic of his energy-based equipment could fetch a price in the billions. A car worth a few million? He could afford to wreck one every day without blinking.
"T-That's too much, really," Peter stammered.
He genuinely didn't dare accept such an extravagant gift. A car like this was something he could only dream of seeing online in his lifetime. The idea of owning one felt absurd. He believed that a person should have a car befitting their status—driving something too flashy would only cause trouble.
Han Yu didn't press the issue, simply smiling and moving on.
During the drive, Wanda and Peter chatted most of the way. Wanda, curious about high school life, kept bombarding Peter with questions.
Meanwhile, Han Yu focused on driving, his thoughts drifting to the completed task.
"Task settlement initiated. Keyword: 'Spider-Man suit.'"
"System calculating… Settlement complete!"
"Reward obtained: Emotional Potion - Stormy Tears (x3). Effect: Causes the designated target to cry uncontrollably for ten minutes. The crying cannot be stopped by any means during this time."
Upon hearing the reward, Han Yu nearly spat out blood. "What the heck? Emotional Potion?!"
It was his first time receiving such a bizarre item.
While Han Yu hadn't expected anything exceptional as a reward, he certainly didn't anticipate something this absurd.
Stormy Tears Potion? What was he supposed to do with that—make people cry for fun? What kind of normal person enjoys watching others bawl their eyes out?
Rolling his eyes, Han Yu decided to save it for an appropriate moment.
Ten minutes later, Han Yu pulled up to a restaurant with Wanda and Peter.
"Wait, we're eating here? Isn't this place super expensive?"
Peter froze at the sight of the upscale restaurant. In his mind, this place was known for its exorbitant prices, with an average cost of tens of thousands per person.
"Do you think I care about a little money?"
Han Yu smiled and patted his car. For a student like Peter, the restaurant's prices might seem astronomical, but for someone like Han Yu, it was just another meal. After all, he was now a billionaire.
Even compared to some long-established tycoons on the wealthiest lists, Han Yu's disposable income outclassed them.
"Guess you're right. In that case, I won't hold back—today, I'll finally get to try the food here!"
With the host covering the bill, Peter Parker didn't overthink it. If he kept being overly polite after such insistence, he'd risk losing a friend.
After handing the car to the valet, Han Yu led the three of them into the restaurant. He took care of securing a table, which fortunately wasn't too challenging since it was a weekday and the place wasn't overly crowded.
"Well, well, isn't it 'Insignificant Parker'? Parker, did this restaurant's doors get too big, or how else did you manage to slip in here?"
A mocking voice came from behind them. Turning around, they saw a group of young men and women about Peter's age approaching. The speaker was a burly boy leading the group.
"That guy's Flash Thompson," Peter whispered angrily but softly, as if afraid of being overheard. "He's the star of our school's football team. He's always bullying me."
Peter's eyes lingered briefly on a girl standing beside Flash, but he quickly looked away.
Wanda, meanwhile, simply frowned at the rude display, thinking these kids had no manners.
Noticing Peter's expression, Han Yu teased, "Parker, didn't you mention you liked a girl who happens to be the girlfriend of your school's football star? Don't tell me it's the one standing next to him?"
Hearing this, Wanda raised an eyebrow and playfully patted Peter on the shoulder. "Oh, so you've got the guts to steal someone else's girl? Impressive!"
"No, no! I'm not trying to steal anyone's girlfriend—I just like her, that's all. I haven't done anything inappropriate!"
Peter blushed furiously, stammering to defend himself. But the more he tried to explain, the more Han Yu and Wanda exchanged mischievous smirks, leaving him feeling utterly defeated. Realizing his efforts were only making things worse, Peter gave up on explaining altogether.
Flash, noticing Peter ignoring him and chatting with his companions, frowned. He was about to step forward to further humiliate Peter when his eyes landed on Wanda.
Stunned by her beauty, Flash's demeanor changed. Wanda, dressed in a striking red leather coat paired with black trousers, exuded an elegant yet alluring charm. Her pure appearance contrasted with a subtle, captivating intensity in her gaze.
Flash wasn't the only one mesmerized. The other boys in his group also stared at Wanda, utterly captivated. Compared to her, the girls in their company seemed utterly ordinary.
But Wanda paid them no mind, not even sparing them a glance. She continued her conversation with Han Yu and Peter, acting as though the group standing nearby didn't even exist.
"Hey, Parker," Flash sneered, finally breaking the silence. "I don't want to see you here. Do you even know where this is? Let me tell you, this place is owned by a friend of my dad's, and I'm here all the time. So, get out—"
Before he could finish, an odd sensation hit his tear ducts. In the next instant, tears began streaming uncontrollably down his face, as though a dam had burst.
"Well, it seems this young man is truly touched by his father's generosity! What a devoted son!"
Han Yu clapped his hands enthusiastically. Flash's companions, though baffled, reflexively joined in.
What just happened? Why was Flash suddenly crying so intensely?
"Flash, come on, we get it—you're emotional. But stop crying already…"
One of his friends tried to console him. By now, a small crowd had gathered, drawn by Flash's dramatic display. As high school students, moments like these were unbearably embarrassing.
Flash, internally screaming: I didn't want to cry!
Grabbing one of his friends, Flash tried to explain, but his tears wouldn't stop no matter what.
Initially, it seemed like he might regain control, but his attempts to defend himself only made things worse, causing him to cry even harder.
Those unaware of the situation could only assume Flash was overwhelmed by thoughts of his father, leading to such an outburst.
The restaurant manager, hearing that someone was uncontrollably crying in the dining area, rushed over. Recognizing Flash as a notorious rich kid, the manager assumed it must be a service issue and began scolding the staff.
However, the waiters, just as confused, insisted, "It wasn't us! He just started crying out of nowhere."
Some speculated Flash might have been moved by his father's ability to provide such a privileged life.
Flash, on the verge of despair, could already envision how long this story would haunt him back at school.
