When Mike received a call from the teacher and got a rough idea of the situation, he was not particularly surprised. Having mentally prepared for such events many years ago, he took Eric and Charles along with him to the school.
Before getting out of the car, Mike glanced at the two sitting obediently in the back seat and said, "You stay here..."
He paused for a moment, then added, "Never mind, come with me."
Mike led the two curious kids into the school and toward the teacher's office. He told Eric and Charles to wait on the bench. "Stay here and don't wander around, understand?"
Both nodded.
Mike patted their heads before pushing open the office door and walking inside.
"Mr. Kent," the freckled teacher greeted, standing up.
Mike nodded at her and, ignoring the two children standing nearby, walked straight past them.
"Mr. Kent!"
The teacher's face was tense as she quickly walked over to him.
She was clearly afraid that Mike might lose control and harm the child.
Mickey shrank back, fearful.
To her surprise, Mike didn't even look at Mickey. Instead, he gently patted Clark on the head and said softly, "Clark, you did well."
Clark looked up at Mike, his eyes suddenly welling with tears as his feelings of grievance vanished instantly.
Mickey, however, scowled and muttered, "Coward."
Mike smirked, crossing his arms. "Kid, I hope your father isn't a coward."
Mickey scoffed and glanced at Mike dismissively. "My dad's way stronger than you!"
Mike smiled faintly and shrugged at the nervous teacher. "Don't worry. He's just a little brat. I wouldn't stoop to his level."
The teacher sighed in relief, pointing to a chair beside her. "Mickey's father will be here soon. You can resolve this matter face to face."
Mike's expression turned cold.
Resolve it face-to-face?
Would it be appropriate to beat the child's father in front of the teacher?
Better to deal with it privately.
Just as Mike was about to speak, the office door was suddenly thrown open, and a man who stood about two meters tall, his muscles bulging like small hills, walked in. Eric and Charles, waiting by the door, leaned over to peer inside.
The freckled teacher glared at the man. "This is...?"
"Son, are you okay?!" the man shouted as he rushed toward Mickey, wrapping his arms around him and inspecting him frantically.
Mike raised an eyebrow.
The teacher furrowed her brow, walking up to the man. "Mr. Bill, your son was the one who attacked someone! I already explained everything to you over the phone!"
The man didn't acknowledge the teacher's words at all. Instead, he glared fiercely at Clark and growled, "So, it's you who's bullying my son?"
He raised his hand and swung it violently at Clark.
"Don't!"
The teacher screamed in alarm.
"Slap!"
The sound of a sharp slap echoed through the room as Mike grabbed the man's wrist, holding it firmly without budging. His eyes were cold as ice.
The man froze for a moment, then snarled, "Are you this kid's father?"
"Idiot."
The man, like a firework ready to explode, swung his fist at Mike.
"Boom!"
The punch landed on Mike's jaw, and a faint trace of blood appeared.
The man was momentarily stunned, then sneered. He had expected Mike to be weak, but now he thought he'd found an easy target.
"Dad!"
Clark clenched his fist, glaring at the man.
This guy? One punch from him and he'd send him back to his hometown!
Mike placed a firm hand on Clark's shoulder, squeezing gently.
"Don't hit him!"
The teacher glared at the man and marched up to him.
The man shoved the teacher aside and, with a clenched fist, swung it again at Mike.
Mike's eyes grew even colder. He raised his hand and caught the man's fist.
"Crack!"
A sharp, crisp sound echoed as the man screamed in pain. Immediately after, several more cracks followed, and the man collapsed to the floor, writhing in agony.
Mike had been careful when he struck, given that there were children and a teacher present. There was no bloodshed, but bones? He couldn't guarantee there wouldn't be some.
"Ahhh!"
The man howled in pain, his son frozen in fear, too shocked to move.
Clark stared blankly at Mike, but his mind was filled with thoughts of the promise Mike had made to him earlier. A smile slowly spread across his face.
Meanwhile, the two boys at the door had already begun to cheer.
"Dad, that's awesome!"
"Dad, beat that bastard to death!"
Mike glanced at the two, his eyes lingering especially on Eric.
The two boys flinched, quickly pulling their heads back and sitting down obediently in their chairs.
Mike turned to Mickey, smiling. "If you ever cause trouble for Clark again, I'll go after your dad, got it?"
Mickey nodded dumbly.
Mike wiped the blood from his lips with his thumb before turning to the teacher. "He struck first; I was just defending myself, right?"
The teacher, still visibly shaken, nodded in agreement.
The man on the floor let out a painful cry, glaring at Mike with hatred. "I'm going to call the police. I'll have you locked up!"
"Call the police? Lock me up?" Mike scoffed, crouching down to speak in a voice low enough for only the man to hear. "I was defending myself. Not only did you attack me, but you were also on something. Who do you think will end up in jail?"
Mike had already noticed the numerous needle marks on the man's arm when he entered.
The man's face twitched, and he lowered his head in defeat.
Mike stood up and turned to the teacher. "Looks like he's given up on that idea. Do you need me to help you throw him out?"
The teacher nodded, then quickly realized what she had said and shook her head. "I'll just call an ambulance."
Mike smiled. "You're really kind."
The teacher's face turned red.
Clark, watching the exchange, looked between his dad and the teacher. Something stirred inside him.
"I'll take Clark home now," Mike said, giving the teacher a nod as he pulled Clark toward the door.
He briefly bit his tongue, which he had purposely nicked earlier.
"Dad!"
Eric and Charles jumped down from their chairs.
"Let's go home first!"
Eric sighed in relief.
"We'll talk about where you learned those bad words once we get home."
Eric's face immediately fell, while Charles covered his mouth and snickered.
Walking out of the school with all three boys, Clark's eyes flashed with thought. As they reached the building's exit, he released Mike's hand. "Dad, I need to go to the bathroom."
Mike nodded. "I'll wait with these two in the car for you."
Clark nodded back and turned to run into the building.
His eyes glinted briefly as he glanced through the walls. Seeing Mike and the others leaving, he scratched his head, muttering, "I'm really worried. He doesn't even care about his own business, and I have to worry for him."
With that, Clark walked toward his teacher's office.
A moment later, Clark emerged from the office, looking bewildered, his face red with embarrassment and anger. His teacher had just kicked him out.
"I'm not interested in your 'scumbag' dad!"
Sighing, Clark lowered his head, glancing back at the teacher's office as he muttered, "Why? Is my dad not handsome enough? I noticed the way she looked at him—her gaze changed just a little. But why? Why did she call my dad a scumbag?"
