This small incident added a vivid stroke to Clark's otherwise uneventful kindergarten life.

After a few days, Clark's kindergarten days came to an end, and Mike's long-awaited trip finally set off, much to the excitement of the three little ones.

Leaving the farm in the care of Bob and his wife, Mike hit the road with the kids in tow.

It was a road trip—heading south.

"Yahoo!"

The three little ones cheered gleefully, their faces lit with excitement as the scenery zipped past, left far behind by the speeding car. The rushing wind that poured in through the windows tousled their hair.

They burst into laughter at each other's disheveled appearances, teasing one another and roughhousing in the back seat.

Mike glanced at the rearview mirror, a faint smile tugging at his lips. He turned on the car's CD player, and cheerful, lively music filled the air. As Mike hummed along, the three little ones joined in, singing happily.

For a moment, the car was filled with a contagious, joyful atmosphere.

But… happy moments always seem fleeting. As the town disappeared into the distance and their view was replaced by monotonous stretches of highway, sky, and greenery, their excitement quickly faded. Yawns began to escape their lips, and before long, they drifted off to sleep.

Mike chuckled quietly to himself.

These kids still needed to learn patience and the art of waiting.

The journey to the destination was always dull and tedious, but precisely because of this, the arrival would be all the more fulfilling and joyous.

Finally, after several hours, Mike reached their first destination.

A picturesque little town.

"Hey, kids, get out of the car!"

Mike knocked on the car door, waking the three of them.

They groggily opened their eyes, took a quick glance outside, and immediately perked up, leaping out of the car with cheers.

Mike took the kids to a restaurant in town to fill their bellies before they began exploring the charming little town.

The air was fresh, the scenery breathtaking, and the hill behind the town was especially picture-perfect.

As evening approached, the four of them descended the hill and stayed overnight in the town. After a good night's rest, they continued their journey early the next morning.

Picturesque towns, bustling markets, unique festivals…

The father and his three sons had a wonderful time along the way.

On another bright, sunny day, after camping out in the wild overnight, the four enjoyed breakfast before cheerfully setting off again.

But as they still had a long way to their destination, they encountered an unexpected problem.

The car broke down.

The four of them pulled the car over to the roadside and stood together, arms crossed and chins resting on their hands, staring at the smoking vehicle.

Mike glanced at Clark, who blinked in response.

"How about this, Clark—you push the car and run?"

Eric and Charles nodded enthusiastically in agreement.

Clark froze for a moment. "Are you sure you're my dad?"

"If I wasn't, I'd have you carry it instead."

Clark sighed. "Fair point!"

Eric eagerly chimed in, "So… should we get started?"

"Started on what?" Charles rolled his eyes at Eric. "Can't you tell Dad is joking?"

Eric stared at Mike in disbelief. "Dad, you're joking?"

Mike: "…"

They locked eyes in silence for a moment before Mike scratched his head and walked toward the hood of the car. He popped it open and frowned.

"Dad, can you fix it?"

Charles tilted his head, his gaze brimming with expectation, ready to unleash a look of admiration at any moment.

With a serious expression, Mike nodded solemnly. "Nope!"

Charles: "?"

Eric burst out laughing. "Then let big bro push us while running!"

Both Eric and Charles had witnessed Clark's unusual abilities before, though they had kept this secret to themselves.

Clark felt a headache coming on.

Mike looked at the three of them and sighed internally.

If these three were adults, this wouldn't even be a problem.

"Let's wait for a car."

Mike spoke flatly and led the kids to stand by the roadside.

However, as time passed, the expressions on their faces grew darker and darker.

After waiting a long time, only three cars passed by. None were suitable, or they couldn't offer any help.

"Damn this sparsely populated place…"

Mike cursed under his breath and turned to the three kids. "Go back into the car and rest. I'll wait here alone."

The three shook their heads in unison.

Warmth surged in Mike's heart. Just as he was about to drag the three little ones into the car, a vehicle pulled up in front of them.

"Hey, need some help?"

A man with soft, gentle features—someone who looked like a naturally kind person—poked his head out of the car window and called out to them.

Mike stared at the man's face, a sense of familiarity nagging at him.

Why does he look so familiar?

"We sure do!"

Mike replied gratefully, "I've been waiting here for a long time."

"Not surprising. There aren't many cars around here."

The man stepped out of his vehicle and walked over to Mike's car. "Mind if I take a look?"

"Be my guest."

The man nodded, opened the hood, and examined the engine. After a moment, he said, "It's a bit tricky. You'll need a replacement part."

Bang!

Closing the hood, he turned to Mike and said, "There's a small town not far from here. I'm heading there myself to check out a newly opened scenic area. If you'd like, I can tow your car there."

With that, the man glanced at the three little ones in the car and gave them a warm smile.

"Thank you so much."

Mike expressed his gratitude.

Kind people like this were rare these days.

"What's your name?"

Mike asked as he took the tow strap the man fetched from his car.

The man smiled and extended his hand. "Phil Coulson."

Mike's eyebrow twitched slightly as he shook the man's hand. "Mike Kent."

A young version of the small-town "model citizen."

No wonder he looked so familiar!

No wonder he seemed like such a good person!

Judging by his demeanor, he must not have joined S.H.I.E.L.D. yet.

"Hey! Mike! Ready to go!"

"Got it!"

Mike signaled back.

Finally, they were out of trouble.

Mike climbed back into the car, high-fived the three kids, and let out a celebratory cheer.

An hour later, with Coulson's help, the group arrived at the town he had mentioned. They pulled the car into a repair shop.

After consulting with the mechanics, they learned the car wouldn't be fixed until the next day. Mike decided they would stay in the town for the night.

"Stay the night?"

Coulson glanced at the group of four and said, "Why not join me at Green Meadow Campground?"

"Green Meadow Campground?"

"It's a newly opened scenic area here. There's a beautiful lake that's said to look like a crystal under the moonlight. We can camp there."

Coulson enthusiastically added, "A friend of mine has already been there, and I arranged to meet another friend there today. She's waiting for me now."

Mike turned to the three little ones. "What do you think?"

The three exchanged glances and, without hesitation, answered in unison, "Let's go!"
