Chapter 400: Maya 2012

Not a single drop of water was left.

Before the crowd could figure out how to deal with the sudden beams of sunlight, a massive surge of crystal-clear blue seawater came crashing down from all directions.

Seeing this, someone immediately used their ability to transform into a pool of liquid and attempted to hide within the approaching sea.

However, in mere moments, the towering, overlapping waves squeezed them back into their original form, where they suffocated and drowned within the water.

Before long, the turbulent sea had engulfed every corner of the entire city.

Coupled with the scorching sunlight, large volumes of seawater were instantly evaporated, forming layers of hazy mist.

The once serene and tranquil City of Night, under a starry sky, was instantly transformed into a hellish landscape of scattered corpses and endless wails of despair.

This same fate unfolded in nearly every corner of this azure planet.

Upon seeing this, the golden-striped giant standing in the center of the trio nodded slightly. The purple-armored giant beside him then wiped the glowing screen from view.

Looking at the golden giant, he remarked with a mocking tone:

"I recall that thousands of years ago, when we arrived here, this planet had a civilization called the Maya."

"At that time, a single human from that civilization, due to our X-genes, gained the ability to foresee the future. He predicted we would destroy their planet in the year 2012."

"And in the end, he was right."

"A primitive race like theirs—no matter how gifted they were with superior genes—couldn't escape the fate of self-destruction."

The golden giant responded coldly.

With that, the forms of the three began to blur, preparing to vanish from sight.

At that moment, a vast, luminous rift suddenly tore open in the void beneath them.

Emerging from the rift was an enormous spaceship, far larger than the three giants combined.

The trio immediately halted their fading forms. The purple-armored giant shouted harshly at the ship:

"Audacious trespassers!"

"The Ultimate Universe is a tightly sealed spacetime where even observers must seek approval a century in advance to enter!"

"How dare you intrude recklessly! Are you not afraid of being held accountable by the [Wall Keepers]?"

At that moment, the composite metal layer covering the spaceship's cockpit turned transparent, revealing its occupants: Zane and his group.

"I see…"

Hearing the words from above, Zane cast a meaningful glance at the Ultimate Universe coordinates preset in the cockpit.

Then, turning to Roma, who had taken out a notebook, he asked:

"What are these [Wall Keepers]?"

"[Wall Keepers] are enforcers who safeguard the order of a single universe, preventing outsiders from invading freely."

"Sometimes, they're members of the Celestials. Other times, they could just be ordinary Earthlings."

Roma replied while jotting something in her notebook, her expression thoughtful.

At that moment, Skynet approached and handed over an electronic screen, saying:

"Master, the current standard time on Earth in this universe is December 2012…"

Before Skynet could finish, Zane interrupted.

Though Skynet's report was already brief, hearing "2012" and glancing at the screen was enough for Zane to grasp the situation on Earth.

"So, this is the 2012 apocalypse foretold in the Mayan prophecy?"

"It turns out it wasn't that Earthlings narrowly escaped disaster—it really happened in the Ultimate Universe's timeline."

Hearing Zane's words, Lorna stepped forward from behind him and took the electronic screen from Skynet's hand.

In just a moment, tears streamed down her face. Anyone who saw the contents on that screen would feel a deep pang of sorrow and heartbreak.

What's more, during their journey through the wormhole, Lorna had already learned from Zane about the Earth they were approaching—a world where mutants like her, endowed with X-genes, existed.

Although Lorna knew these X-genes were nothing more than a whim bestowed by the Celestial Order, and even though this Earth was entirely unrelated to the one she grew up on, she still couldn't help but feel an inexplicable longing toward it.

She also knew that on this Earth, there might very well exist someone who looked exactly like her and shared her name.

Thinking about this, Lorna's tear-filled eyes turned toward Zane as she choked on her words:

"Honey…"

"Go," Zane said softly, hugging her gently and patting her back. He knew what she wanted to say and what she intended to do.

Moments later, Lorna flickered out of existence and leaped from the ship's energy-shielded barrier, floating directly into the vast outer space above this universe's Earth.

There, her small figure reached out toward the massive blue planet.

In an instant, a thick blue line, broader than her entire body, appeared trembling before her. Its fluctuations were erratic, its movements chaotic.

"Hmm? A mutant?"

"Another Omega-level mutant, no less!"

The purple-armored giant in the sky locked his gaze on Lorna, green energy flickering in his eyes as he murmured:

"But if you think you can alter this Earth's timeline, you're delusional!"

With that, a surge of green energy shot from his eyes, aiming for the unflinching Lorna.

Yet, before the beam could travel even half a meter, a deafening "Die" echoed out. The green energy disintegrated into nothingness under an invisible force.

In the same instant, the colossal form of the purple-armored giant was pulverized into dust.

In his final moments, panic and uncomprehending fear filled his eyes. He didn't even know who had killed him.

The golden-striped giant standing nearby was equally horrified. His eyes darted between Zane, who remained calm and collected aboard the spaceship below, and the pulverized remains of his ally.

Zane had simply uttered one word: "Die."

"What is happening?"

"There wasn't a single ripple in spacetime…"

"Even the energy-shielded spaceship wasn't damaged in the slightest."

"Then how did Charyll get obliterated into dust?"

The golden-striped giant's thoughts churned violently as he struggled to find an explanation.

At that moment, the fiery-red giant beside him conjured an enormous flame-covered scepter once more.

"Death… Power…" he growled, his words slow and deliberate as he gripped the scepter tightly, hurling it downward like a flaming iron rod toward Zane.

"Die," Zane uttered once again, standing calmly within the spaceship.

Instantly, the fiery-red giant met the same fate as his companion, disintegrating into ash.

A crimson divine core emerged from the ashes, joining the violet divine core left behind by the purple-armored giant, both drawn effortlessly into Zane's palm.

Witnessing this, the last surviving member—the golden-striped giant—was utterly overwhelmed by terror. Trembling uncontrollably, he involuntarily muttered aloud:
