Chapter 4: Chapter 4
"Hey Nolin, come sit with me—I saved you a seat!"
"Nolin, over here! I even kept it warm for you."
"Senior, I… I have room too…"
"Come sit with me! I've got delicious milk for you…"
"Nolin, I watched some interesting things last night. Maybe we can study biology and physics together tonight?—A little preview of anatomy…"
The girls showed off their charms, sending flirtatious glances and suggestive smiles.
If it weren't for the public setting, some of them might have rushed over already.
Nolin smiled and sat down beside a black-haired girl.
"Hi! I'm Nolin. What's your name?"
"Huh? M-Me?"
The black-haired girl was clearly shocked.
She never expected Nolin—the celebrity of the academy—to sit next to her!
Nolin was loved by older girls, but she was only a middle schooler—someone hardly anyone noticed.
Why would Nolin choose her?
"M-My name is Clarice Ferguson! I'm thirteen!"
Clarice stammered nervously, blushing deeply.
"Can I call you Clarice?"
Nolin's gentle smile was like sunlight, warming Clarice's heart.
"Of course! Senior!"
Clarice's face reddened, but she happily agreed.
Still, Clarice felt uneasy.
Was Nolin being kind just because they were both Asian?
In this country, having yellow skin wasn't easy—especially as mutants.
Even at Xavier's Academy, Clarice still felt isolated due to her appearance.
Nolin, however, had never faced this problem.
He wasn't rejected for his race. Instead, he was adored—especially by girls.
Clarice envied him.
But now—Nolin had ignored the older girls and sat with her.
Her uneasiness mixed with a bit of delight.
Nolin noticed the complex emotions in Clarice's eyes.
"Wow," he thought. "My perception has leveled up since coming to this world."
Before his reincarnation, he always wondered how novel protagonists could read emotions so easily.
Now—he realized his mutant ability made him hypersensitive to women's emotions.
"Clarice, just call me Nolin instead of senior."
"N-Nolin?"
Clarice hesitated, but when Nolin smiled and nodded, her worries vanished.
Suddenly, her appetite grew, and she even started stealing bites from Nolin's plate.
The other girls were shocked—and jealous.
The older girls couldn't focus on their meals.
They hated that Clarice had gotten so close to Nolin.
But they held back, assuming Clarice was too young to be a threat—at least legally.
In New York, the legal marriage age was 14, so Clarice didn't qualify.
The older girls convinced themselves that Nolin was just being kind to a lonely little sister.
"He's so sweet!"
"Such a gentleman!"
But deep down, they still resented Clarice's luck.
Meanwhile, the male students glared at Nolin with envy and disdain.
Nolin's magnetic presence left them feeling powerless.
Even those with girlfriends couldn't match his charm.
After lunch, Nolin invited Clarice to show him around the school.
Though he had been there for two weeks, he still didn't know everything.
Clarice, often alone, was familiar with every corner of the campus.
As they strolled in the warm sunlight, their bond grew.
Clarice even started calling him "Brother Lin."
"I finally have someone who cares about me!"
Clarice was overjoyed, while Nolin was pleased to have gained her trust.
By the end of the afternoon, Nolin had learned secrets about the school and some juicy gossip from Clarice.
Clarice didn't seem curious about Nolin's past, which worked in his favor.
That night, Nolin left Clarice's dorm and returned to his own.
Xavier's school prioritized privacy—students had their own rooms to foster independence.
Though small, Nolin's dorm was perfect for planning his next steps.
He needed power.
Mutant girls could boost his abilities, but that wasn't enough.
Mutants like Jean Grey had strong powers, yet their bodies were fragile.
Even the Phoenix could be killed by Wolverine's claws.
Nolin's Goal: No Weaknesses.
To become unstoppable, he needed balanced power.
Mutant abilities weren't enough—he needed to travel across worlds and unlock new potentials.
"Space Travel."
This would be his second trump card.
