Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Breaking Out of the Dungeon

The slaughter within the dungeon had come to an end. However, the absence of the guards who were supposed to change shifts had drawn attention outside the dungeon.

Before long, a large contingent of Asgardian warriors swarmed into the dungeon.

"Hmm? So many of them? Wasn't Odin supposed to be off leading the Asgardian army in battle?"

Johnny slowly opened his eyes. The surge in power coursing through him radiated an overwhelming aura.

"Ghost, let's fight our way out!"

Johnny's body trembled slightly in excitement at the prospect of the impending battle. He issued his command to the ghost.

With a powerful stomp, Johnny unleashed his full strength and dashed toward the end of the dungeon, his figure a blur of motion.

The ghost followed closely, its body light as a shadow yet keeping pace with Johnny effortlessly.

The team entering the dungeon quickly noticed something was wrong. They came across a few skeletal remains near the entrance, surrounded by shattered armor unmistakably belonging to the dungeon guards. The sight made them cautious.

"It seems a powerful prisoner has escaped. Stay alert! If you notice anything unusual, fire immediately!"

The squad leader, standing at the front of the group, issued orders. Energy began to condense on the spears of every warrior.

"Boom!"

Before anyone could react, Johnny's figure burst out from a corner of the dungeon. A surge of energy shot out from his spear, striking an Asgardian warrior who failed to dodge in time, blasting his head apart.

"Attack!"

For a moment, everyone froze in shock. Then, at the command, a barrage of attacks rained down on Johnny.

Johnny immediately felt the deadly threat of the onslaught.

Even though the ghost had devoured countless opponents and granted him immense strength, the combination of magic and technological weapons wielded by the Asgardians was no trivial matter.

"Ghost!"

Johnny roared. The ghost, trailing close behind him, understood instantly. It moved in front of Johnny, shielding him from the barrage of attacks.

The wave of attacks tore through the ghost, leaving its body riddled with holes. When its head was struck and shattered, the ghost's form disintegrated into a dark, dissipating energy.

Though the ghost was destroyed, it had successfully absorbed the majority of the assault.

Johnny's Asgardian shield became the second line of defense, protecting his vital areas—his head and torso.

Seizing the opportunity, Johnny charged into the group before they could recharge their weapons for a second wave of attacks.

From the perspective of the attacking Asgardian warriors, their initial volley seemed to hit an invisible wall. Most of their strikes vanished, and only a few landed on Johnny.

In the blink of an eye, Johnny was among them. He thrust his spear forward with a sudden burst of force, piercing through the throat of one warrior and spraying hot blood into the air.

Boom!

In his other hand, Johnny swung his shield horizontally, smashing it into another warrior's chest. The sickening crack of breaking bones echoed alongside a scream of agony. The impact sent the warrior flying, disrupting the attacks of those behind him.

Johnny's strength, enhanced by the ghost's consumption of countless prisoners and guards, was now on an entirely different level.

Once Johnny was within the group, the battlefield descended into chaos. Although the Asgardian spears were capable of powerful energy attacks, the close-quarters combat made them hesitant to fire recklessly for fear of harming their own comrades.

This was the advantage of Johnny's proactive assault—being a lone fighter, his charge into the fray completely disrupted the enemy's formation.

Dodging and weaving, Johnny struck with his spear and swept with his shield. Having absorbed a wealth of combat experience from his fallen foes, he showed no fear of the chaotic melee surrounding him.

Under Johnny's relentless attack, one Asgardian warrior was struck with such force it was as if a truck had hit him. His skull shattered on impact, and his body slammed into the wall, leaving a shallow dent before slumping lifelessly to the ground, void of any breath.

"And you're next!"

Johnny moved with astonishing speed. The moment one foe fell, he wasted no time. Pivoting on the ball of his foot, he unleashed a devastating kick.

"So, this is what I've gained from those guards and prisoners? Thank you all for helping me improve—at the cost of your lives."

His kick landed squarely on the side of another warrior's head. The force twisted the soldier's neck a full rotation, killing him instantly.

"Don't panic! We outnumber him—surround and attack!"

The squad leader, watching in rage and disbelief as several of his warriors fell in mere moments, shouted an order before charging at Johnny himself, hoping to pin him down and create an opening for a fatal strike.

But while the plan sounded good, reality was far harsher.

The squad leader quickly realized that his attacks couldn't even keep up with Johnny's speed, let alone restrain him.

Johnny's punches flowed like water, and his kicks were swift and unimpeded, every strike as smooth as if honed through countless battles.

Each seemingly simple attack carried devastating force, bringing screams and blood with every blow.

In mere moments, the entire Asgardian squad that had entered the dungeon lay slaughtered by Johnny's hand.

"Ghost."

Johnny finally summoned the ghost again.

"Master…"

The ghost materialized, its dark energy coalescing into a humanoid form wrapped in shadowy bandages. The undead specter stood before Johnny, bowing in deference.

"It's time for your feast."

Johnny spoke calmly, leaving the battlefield littered with corpses to the ghost, as he turned and walked away without looking back.

Behind him, the chilling sounds of ripping and devouring echoed through the dungeon, while waves of heat surged into Johnny's body.

His clothes and skin were stained with blood—some from the Asgardian soldiers, some his own.

These injuries were the remnants of the Asgardian squad's initial barrage, marks that his ghost and shield hadn't fully absorbed.

Johnny's leg bore a few bloody holes, but as the warmth coursed through his body, the wounds began to heal at an incredible speed.

By the time Johnny ascended the dungeon steps, his injuries had completely vanished.

The soft warmth of sunlight fell upon him, and for the first time after the relentless slaughter, Johnny felt his numb and strained nerves begin to relax.

"The dungeon's events won't stay hidden for long. I must leave Asgard as soon as possible. If Odin returns with his army…"

Johnny's eyes scanned his surroundings, every movement deliberate and cautious as thoughts raced through his mind.

"If I want to escape Asgard, there's only one way…"
