Chapter 6: Chapter 6: The Rainbow Bridge
The Rainbow Bridge!
According to Johnny's memories, Asgard was located at the pinnacle of the Nine Realms. While there were rumored secret passages connecting it to other worlds, even the Asgardians knew little about them, making it nearly impossible for Johnny to locate them in a short time.
Using the Rainbow Bridge to teleport away was the fastest method.
But it came with great risk.
At this thought, a gleam of determination flashed in Johnny's eyes.
Asgard would be the first stepping stone on his path to becoming a true powerhouse.
After a brief rest, Johnny had fully regained his strength. His body was brimming with energy, surging from the many powers he had absorbed by devouring Asgardian warriors and prisoners. For now, however, it was all stored within him, as he had no time to slowly process and master it.
Stepping out of the dungeon, Johnny's gaze swept across the towering, majestic Asgardian architecture. Everywhere he looked was a scene of opulent grandeur, gold shimmering in every direction.
"Damn it! I don't know my way around. I have no idea about Asgard's layout, let alone the location of the Rainbow Bridge. What now?"
"Why didn't the devouring process grant me the memories of these Asgardian warriors about the city's geography?"
For a moment, Johnny stood frozen in frustration. But he quickly gathered his thoughts, an exasperated expression giving way to determination.
"Physically, Asgardians look identical to regular humans. The only difference lies in the divine energy flowing within them. And now, I also have traces of that divine energy in me…"
"Maybe I can disguise myself as an Asgardian and gather information slowly."
With this idea in mind, a smirk crept onto Johnny's face. Choosing a random path, he started walking toward one of the grand golden buildings.
From Johnny's perspective, Asgard, aside from its architectural style, wasn't all that different from Earth, where he had lived before crossing over.
Well, perhaps the clothing was another distinction.
But for Johnny, this wasn't a significant issue.
The arrogant Asgardians would never believe that an outsider had infiltrated their realm, killed all the dungeon guards, and was now strolling openly down Asgard's streets.
It didn't take Johnny long to familiarize himself with Asgard's layout.
Not only did he discover the exact location of the Rainbow Bridge, but he also learned about…
The underground vault where Odin stored his treasures.
However, Johnny dismissed the idea as mere fantasy. He wouldn't dare touch such a heavily guarded place. Even if Odin had taken his army to war, he would have ensured that formidable defenses were left in place to guard something so vital.
Through casual conversations with ordinary Asgardians, Johnny gleaned another crucial piece of information.
When he mentioned Prince Thor and Prince Loki, the Asgardian citizens reacted with strange expressions.
"What Thor or Loki princes? The only one under King Odin's command is Hela, the Vanguard of Death!"
When the topic of Hela arose, the faces of the Asgardian citizens lit up with fervent reverence, their admiration for her seemingly surpassing even that for Odin.
"With Hela, the Vanguard of Death, King Odin will surely lead Asgard to rule over the Nine Realms!"
One fanatic declared with enthusiasm.
"Hela… Hela… the Goddess of Death, Hela!"
Johnny repeated the name several times, and only then did it dawn on him. Hela, Odin's firstborn, was Thor's elder sister.
"Hela, as Odin's vanguard, leading campaigns across the Nine Realms… This is… the era of the Divine Wars?"
Reaching this conclusion, Johnny was momentarily stunned. He hadn't just been transported to Asgard—he had landed smack in the chaotic period of the Divine Wars.
During this time, Asgard was rising to prominence. Odin was in his prime, and Hela was emerging as a powerful force. Together, their conquests had plunged the Nine Realms into wars that lasted for decades, even centuries.
"It's clear I can't stay here. Odin and Hela could return at any moment. I need to leave as soon as possible."
Johnny approached the grand palace of Asgard, casting a distant glance at its deepest and most resplendent hall.
"Odin's vault… One day, I'll come for it."
He vowed silently, wasting no more time, and turned toward the direction of the Rainbow Bridge.
In Johnny's mind, the Rainbow Bridge must be a heavily guarded area—it was, after all, a crucial link between Asgard and the Nine Realms.
But when Johnny cautiously made his way toward the Rainbow Bridge, he found an unexpected scene: there were no signs of the heavy guard he had anticipated.
"No one's here?"
Johnny frowned in puzzlement. The Rainbow Bridge stretched wide and empty, its vibrant pathway ending at the teleportation point, and there wasn't a single guard in sight.
The lack of protection could be attributed to two main reasons.
First, the arrogance of the Asgardians. With Odin in his prime and Asgard's armies conquering kingdom after kingdom, no one believed it was even possible for an outsider to infiltrate Asgard.
Second, with Odin leading the Asgardian forces to war, he had taken the majority of their elite warriors. The few remaining soldiers were assigned to ensure the security of critical locations like the dungeons and Odin's vault. There simply weren't enough troops to spare for the Rainbow Bridge.
For Johnny, this was a stroke of luck—it significantly simplified his plan to use the Rainbow Bridge to escape.
Hiding in the shadows, Johnny observed the surroundings carefully. Initially, he had intended to wait until nightfall and force his way through the bridge.
But now, that wasn't necessary.
To avoid suspicion, Johnny had disguised himself as an ordinary Asgardian resident. Without hesitation, he began walking toward the end of the Rainbow Bridge.
The magnificent bridge spanned the starry cosmos, a breathtaking spectacle of vibrant hues stretching across the galaxy.
Yet Johnny had no time to admire the stunning view. Keeping himself calm, he steadily approached the teleportation point at the far end of the bridge.
"Stop! Who are you?"
A sharp voice rang out, causing Johnny's expression to harden.
