Chapter 4: 04
Contrary to what Keiko or Sandy - the nurse who took them to the clinic at 1:30 in the afternoon - thought, Keiji was not nervous.
He had already been to a psychiatrist before, in his previous incarnation.
In this one, the original Keiji has never been in a place like this in his life.
Actually, Keiji just finds it curious that his appointment with the psychiatrist is on Wednesdays, exactly at 2:00 PM.
It's exactly the same time he used to go to a psychiatric clinic when he was Michael.
Keiji doesn't believe in coincidences.
Sitting in a simple wooden chair, absently watching the different people walking through the lobby, his mind was elsewhere.
He lifted his neck, looking at the clock on the wall in front of him. The clock was square-shaped, made of plastic, its two hands marked 1:44 and were slowly approaching 1:45.
A few minutes earlier, Keiko entered the office of a psychiatrist named Joyce Phillips. This is the psychiatrist that Sandy, the nurse who was sitting in the chair next to him and offered him a cereal bar, recommended.
As he tore the wrapper off the cereal bar and began to eat, Keiji was inwardly wondering why this person named Joyce Phillips seemed familiar.
Then, Keiji remembered.
He remembers reading a very short article about a Spider-Man comic book in his adolescence.
He doesn't remember the details of the story itself perfectly, but he is sure that this woman appeared in that comic book which was originally printed in July 1979, according to the same article.
The comic book even had a very long title.
"Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man, Vol. 35."
Apparently, Joyce was never mentioned again, nor did she appear in future comics or adaptations.
Well, that was what Keiji managed to deduce after seeing an almost empty page on a website he occasionally visited in his life as Michael.
This is crucial information, Keiji realized.
Based on this, he thinks he is in an alternative version of reality called "616."
He remembers a small paragraph written on another page of the same site.
In summary, it said: "Earth 616 has all the characteristics of our reality. The same countries, the same personalities, the same historical events, and so on."
As soon as he understood that he was in some parallel version of the Primary Earth, Keiji secretly took Keiko's phone and started searching the browser to clear up some doubts.
However, before that, he checked the current date.
January 29, 2003.
That impressed Keiji.
Now, he is living in the early years of the 21st century.
In his previous life, he was also born in the 21st century, but a few years later.
Between the months of February and May 2008, Anthony Edward Stark would be kidnapped.
The kidnapping would be organized by the Ten Rings through orders given by Obadiah Stane.
Currently, Keiji is not really worried about the future.
He is a 5-year-old child now, and he will still be a slightly older child in 2008.
He also recognizes that he is not powerful.
Here, many threats to humanity will arise.
Whether they are aliens, gods, demons, mutants, and people with superpowers, psychotic villains, and secret organizations and groups with nefarious goals - usually involving world domination or the total extermination of a specific group of people.
These are just some of the many threats in which this version of Earth will become the stage.
Moreover, Keiji is, rightly so, terrified of the possibility of dying along with half the universe when Thanos snaps his fingers, using the Infinity Gauntlet.
Therefore, Keiji knows that he couldn't do anything to prevent this kidnapping and is unsure whether he should interfere in other situations.
At least, he wouldn't do anything if he didn't have Nen at his disposal.
Since the day his mind fully assimilated the memories of the original Keiji, he has been training the basic principles of Nen.
He read that manga so many times that the most important information about Nen was hammered into his head, metaphorically.
Before the day he started his Nen training, Keiji wrote in a notebook the routine he would follow that year.
He will need a strong body in the future, after all.
His routine starts when he wakes up at 4:00 in the morning. Still very early, but also late enough for him to have a 10-hour night of sleep.
A child between the ages of 3 and 5 should sleep for at least 10 hours and at most 13 hours.
Keiji chose the shorter option.
So, he stretches until 4:30.
Next, he starts running around his neighborhood, but he never exercises for more than 60 minutes.
Definitely, Keiji doesn't want to die because he ran more than his small body can handle.
Then, he walks home a little more slowly and goes to drink some water before taking a hot shower.
He started to eat mainly fruits that had certain vitamins, and some important proteins that other types of food contained.
Keiji remembers that Keiko looked at him, confused, and asked him why he wasn't eating ice cream.
Keiko was also confused about why her brother started drinking a glass filled to the brim with water every hour.
The current Keiji laughed nervously and honestly replied that he wanted to have a strong body.
Internally, he was wondering how, why, and when the original Keiji ended up developing such a horrible diet, which consisted mainly of sweet things.
The answer is that the original Keiji doesn't know how to cook, and Keiko wouldn't let him near the kitchen.
That's how that sick child began to eat the first thing that seemed edible to his eyes or what he could reach in the pantry.
In his previous life, both the mother and the father he had in his first life were nutritionists who exercised regularly.
They never failed to instill in him that a healthy life is crucial.
But Keiji would not judge his predecessor. He also couldn't resist those excessively sugary sweets sometimes.
Keiji sought to develop a flexible body, but one that was also resilient, powerful, and durable.
He suspected that the health of the original Keiji had worsened because of his horrible diet, and he was right.
The health of this body seems to have improved quite a bit since he started following his new routine.
Then, Keiji remembered the words his father had told him:
"The constant adaptation of the immune system is the response that the body develops over the course of life to recognize foreign substances and effectively combat them. Basically, you get sick less often." Said the tall, muscular man, seriousness in his tone.
He crouched down and looked directly into the eyes of a Michael who was perhaps 12 years old and lying in a hospital bed, then said:
"But you shouldn't rely solely on him. You should take better care of your body, Michael. Thus, you would hardly be here, sick and stuck in this bed, since last month."
Again, Michael, now Keiji, found motivation to exercise in those words.
And during the early afternoon, he began his Nen training.
He decided to start training Zetsu, the second principle of Nen, because he thought stealth would be important if he ever needed it.
Zetsu involves suppressing the flow of aura and is used to conceal the presence of other Nen users.
But there are no other Nen users besides Keiji in this universe.
Keiji knows that he could awaken anyone if he were feeling particularly malicious emotions or if he released excess aura in a strike.
A person would die if exposed to Nen so violently, simply because they didn't know how to control the aura nodes that were opened quickly and violently.
When he is massaging Keiko's shoulders, Keiji is very careful.
He is actually training the two principles called Ren and Gyo.
Ren is the third principle of Nen, known as the principle of practice.
This principle involves manifesting large quantities of aura around you, expanding and intensifying the aura around you as much as possible.
Gyo is the advanced application of Ren, and it involves concentrating the aura in a specific part of the body and enhancing it.
Keiji developed this training disguised as a massage when he completely enveloped his hands with aura using Gyo, right after manifesting the aura all over his body with Ren.
Technically, this is strength control training.
Keiji is honing his hands with Nen and must move them as smoothly as possible.
Then, he starts massaging Keiko's shoulders without aura.
He must not apply force, regardless of whether his hands are enveloped in his aura or not.
Moreover, Keiji never did that when his emotions were very negative or malicious.
Keiji doesn't want to kill his sister.
Fortunately, this dangerous training was working, and quickly.
His hands were becoming less and less stiff.
And as he thought about it, the clock struck 2:00 PM and Keiko walked out the door of Dr. Joyce Phillips.
Her older sister sat in a chair near Sandy, who began to chat animatedly with her.
Dr. Joyce Phillips walked out of the office, going to Keiji, who was drinking water from the fountain.
A few seconds later, Keiji was sitting with his back straight in the psychiatric office chair, his small hands in his lap.
Pretending to have a shy expression, he introduced himself:
"Hi, my name is Keiji."
