Multiverse Heroes: Magical Destinies(AmphibiaxSVTFOExTOH)

Chapter 1: First Contact

One of the strangest feelings one can go through is the feeling of being a fish out of water. To be in a world that isn't your own, to find yourself in a strange environment and not knowing what to do in that situation. That is a feeling three human kids have come to understand, and quite well in fact.

The first was a young boy by the name of Marco Diaz from the town of Echo Creek. He was just a regular kid trying to pass himself off as a bad boy, who then found himself being the impromptu guardian of Mewni Princess, Star Butterfly. While she found herself trying to adjust to his world first, it wasn't long before he would end up stuck in her Kingdom for an extended period, living among the Mewmans and her parents, Queen Moon and King River, and helping in battle against various forces of evil, mostly led by the villain Ludo and Mewni's biggest threat at the time, Toffee.

The second was a young girl by the name of Anne Boonchuy. This small-town girl had only two friends she was close to, those being her classmates Marcy Wu and Sasha Waybright. After an incident with a mysterious Music Box, the three were transported over to the world of Amphibia, a land inhabited by, as the name implies, amphibious creatures such as frogs. Anne found herself in the care of the Plantar Family, befriending a boy named Sprig, his sister Polly and their grandfather Jebediah, or Hop Pop as he's also called. Together they have faced evil, including potential war with the toads, led by General Grime and his new apprentice, Anne's friend Sasha. After reuniting with Marcy, the two vowed to help save Amphibia and find their way home.

The third was a young girl by the name of Luz Noceda. Due to her inability to fit in with other kids at her school, a result of her sporadic nature, Luz's mother enrolled her at a summer camp to fix her social ineptness. However on the way there, she found herself walking through a magical door to the land known as The Boiling Isles, in which she befriended a witch named Eda Clawthorne and her friend King in her newfound quest to becoming a witch. She made many new friends along the way, including Gus Porter, Willow Park and a new best friend in Amity Blight. In time Luz hopes to achieve her goal, in spite of the dangers that lay ahead in the form of Emperor Belos.

All three of these kids have experienced a world beyond their own, and soon they will experience a new adventure together, as a trio of out of world warriors. This is a story of how many friends came together to protect their multiverse.

It started outside of the Owl House in question, Luz was reading an old diary of one Phillip Wantanebe, while also utilizing assistant from the Echo Mouse, in hopes of finding her way back home while her guardian and friend Eda watched over alongside King.

"Come on, I almost have it…" Luz said, trying to activate her spell, but each attempt just resulted in more misery and annoyance from her. "Oh come on!"

"She's been doing this for like two hours, shouldn't we try to help her?" King asked.

"I would but I just had a few bottles of Apple Blood and I'm not exactly well rounded in the head right now, if you know what I mean," Eda said.

"Good to know you can splurge on that again," King sassed. "Not too long ago we were worried about just paying our bills."

"I picked up a few side jobs, paid pretty well," Eda said. "Not totally legal but nothing too immoral."

"Dang it!" Luz shouted, her spell failing again. "This sucks!"

King pitied Luz, she struggled so hard with this and was getting very little results. "Wish I could help, but maybe if I grabbed your sister we can get somewhere."

"Lilith went shopping a half hour ago, I think she brought Hooty with her," Eda said.

King shuddered, the first time he saw that Hooty could leave the Owl House was probably the most disturbing thing he's seen in a while, and he's seen a lot of gnarly stuff. "Well maybe you can still help, you have a little magic and you still seem to be in the now."

"Alright, can't hurt to try," Eda said. "Besides, I'm getting a little tired of watching the kid fail."

Luz continued to focus on her spell, "What can I be doing wrong?" She checked the journal once more, looking over some details. "Oh! Maybe this is what I messed up on!"

"Finally got a breakthrough kid?" Eda asked.

"I think so, stay back, I don't know how stable this spell is," Luz said, placing her glyph cards down. To the surprise of Luz, Eda and King, a portal had opened up before their eyes.

"Whoa," Eda commented. "Kid, I think you pulled it off."

"I think so too!" Luz said. "I might be able to get home now! I can check on my mom and see if she's alright!"

"Alright, what are we waiting for then?" Eda said. "Let's see if this spell worked."

Luz carefully touched the portal, making sure it was safe to proceed. When she saw that her hand was still intact, she placed her arm through and stepped through the portal, Eda following right after her.

King stood there, contemplating his next course of action, "Hm, if a human sees me, would they get freaked out?" After a few seconds, King shrugged it off. "Eh, I'm sure it'll be fine."

After writing a quick note and leaving it for Lillith and Hooty, King joined Eda and Luz in traveling through the portal, eager to see if the plan worked out well enough.

On the other side of Luz's portal, a family of four was seen hiking together. This of course was no ordinary family, the portal wasn't to Earth, it was to the land of Amphibia.

The family in question were The Plantars along with Anne, taking a break from charging the Calamity Box and in search of ingredients for some dinner that Hop Pop hopes to brew.

"So this Swamp Souffle thing you're making, are you entirely sure it's edible?" Anne asked.

"Of course it is, I've made it for myself many times," Hop Pop said.

"Is it even good?" Sprig asked.

"Well, it tastes slightly less worse than it smells, if that's any consolation," Hop Pop said.

"It's really not," Anne commented, already dreading the oncoming dish.

"I still say we should order some take-out," Polly said, hoping along the ground.

"Oh come now kids, nothing wrong with trying something new," Hop Pop said. "Now we have almost everything we need here, we just need some Pineapple Fungus to complete the meal."

"Ugh, that sounds so gross," Anne said, suppressing the urge to regurgitate.

"You kids are so spoiled sometimes," Hop Pop said. "Trying out some new food isn't going to kill you."

"Hey I think I found that fungus thing!" Polly said, pulling on a mushroom.

"Polly wait!" Hop Pop tried calling.

It was too late, Polly had accidentally agitated the nose of a giant creature resembling a badger with insect eyes and mandibles, the very sight startling the Plantar family.

"Oops," Polly commented.

"Oops! That's all you have to say for yourself!?" Sprig asked.

"Less talking, more running!" Anne shouted, running off with the Plantars. "By the way, Hop Pop, to answer your question! Trying something new WOULD kill us!"

"You can sass more after we get to safety!" Hop Pop shouted as he fled with his family.

Meanwhile Luz and Eda had arrived at the end of the forest entrance through the portal, both taking a quick look around their surroundings.

"Wow, this place looks nicer than I thought," Eda said, then noticed a weird animal creature walk by. "Greetings milady."

"Eda...you know that's not a human, right?" Luz asked.

"Yeah, sure kid, now where's the nearest bar?" Eda wondered.

"Oh great, new world, same Eda," King joked.

Luz scratched her head in confusion, "This can't be Earth, can it?"

Suddenly the Plantars came rushing out of the forest, Anne immediately crashing into Luz, both falling over.

"Oooh, that's gotta hurt," King commented.

"Huh? Who are you people?" Hop Pop asked, taking a good look at the newcomers.

"Wait, is that another human?" Sprig asked upon seeing Luz.

"Geez Anne, how many human girls did you bring into our world!?" Polly asked. "Gotta say, she looks really well dressed though."

Anne slowly stood up, helping Luz stand as well while the two looked in awe at one another.

"Another human?" Anne said. "I don't believe it!"

"Me neither," Luz said, amazed by the sight of another human girl, first one in months. "Maybe my spell did work."

"Spell? What spell?" Anne asked.

"Oh, nothing, long story. Guess I should introduce myself, my name is Luz Noceda." The young girl looked down for a second, "Wow, are you walking around in one shoe? That's amazing."

"Yeah that took a lot of getting used to," Anne said. "I'm Anne Boonchuy by the way, nice to meet you."

"Crazy question, but is this Earth?" Luz asked.

"Sorry no, Earth is...whatever length of distance from here," Anne said. "I can't measure interdimensional travel."

"Anne, it's great that you made a new friend, but we still have a big problem!" Hop Pop said, gesturing to the giant bug creature that just emerged from the woods.

"Holy wow that's a huge monster!" King shouted. "What kind of freaky world is this!?"

Hop Pop quickly clinged to Eda's leg, "Save us Foxy Lady!"

"Hey get off of me!" Eda shouted, shaking off Hop Pop.

"Luz, Luz's friends, we should probably run before that thing has us for a snack!" Anne said.

"It won't be snacking on anyone today!" Luz said, pulling out a glyph.

"What's she doing?" Sprig asked.

"I don't know but I don't want to be around to find out," Polly said, trying to run.

"Polly wait! She might need our help!" Sprig called to his sister.

"Well what the heck are we suppose to do to help!?" Polly shouted.

As she said that, Luz used a magical glyph to trap the giant creature in vines, awing the Plantar family as a result.

"Dang girl!" Anne commented. Upon realizing their advantage, she quickly turned to her friends. "Polly, Sprig, we should help too!"

Anne pulled out a racket and started whacking the bug in the face. King went to help by kicking it in the sides.

"Yeah! You're not so tough! Face the wrath of the Demon King!" King shouted, continuously kicking it.

"Demon?" Anne asked. "Is that for real?"

"Something like that, my backstory is kind of long and complicated," King boasted.

During this, Sprig loaded Polly into his slingshot.

"Little Sister Cannon!" Sprig declared, sending Polly right at the giant bug creature.

"Here comes the pain!" Polly then punched the creature in the eye. It eventually scurried off, the kids and King standing victoriously.

"Ha! Take that freaky bug monster!" Anne taunted. "Don't mess with The Plantars!"

Eda awkwardly stood around, feeling a bit ashamed of having to rely on a bunch of kids to keep her alive, "I was about to help."

"Me too…" Hop Pop awkwardly insisted.

"Don't worry about it, at least we're not dead," King said.

"Fair point," Eda admitted.

Anne put her racket away and quickly turned to Luz, "So are you like a magician? You just summoned vines from the ground."

"Actually I'm more of a witch, or rather a witch in training," Luz said. "I'm still originally human."

"A witch? Really?" Sprig asked, suddenly remember his former fiancé Maddie Flour. "I actually know a frog girl who would be interested in hearing your story."

"So where are you from, better dressed human girl?" Polly asked.

"Polly, be polite when you ask other people questions," Hop Pop said.

"Aw, I think she's kind of cute," Eda said, kneeling beside Polly. "Up top!"

Polly leapt up to hi-five Eda. "You seem like a really cool lady."

"Thanks, I get that a lot," Eda said.

"Well anyway little girl, to answer your question, I'm from The Boiling Isles," Luz said.

"The Boiling Isles? I never heard of a place like that," Anne said. "What's it like? Is it some sort of medieval fantasy type world?"

"More of a kid friendly hellscape," Luz said. "What about this world? What's it called?"

"This place? It's Amphibia, and as the name implies, it's mostly frogs, toads and newts," Anne explained.

"Whoa really!? That's so cool!" Luz said.

"Yeah, takes some getting used to though. But you gotta tell me what it's like where you're from! Or rather where you ended up," Anne said. "Like how did you cope with being so far away from home!? Do you miss your parents!? Does the food actually taste decent!?"

"I want to hear about you too," Luz said. "Like where did you learn to fight the way you did!? Do you also have a found family!? Or better yet, do you have some type of horrifying authority figure to fight?"

"Oh my God! You have to come over!" Anne turned to the old toad. "Hop Pop!? Can I bring Luz back for a sleepover!? Like right this second!?"

"Hold your snails there Anne, we still need to get permission from..." Hop Pop turned to Eda. "I don't think I got your name miss."

"I am Eda, the Owl Lady, the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles!" Eda proudly proclaimed. "Well, until recently that is."

Sprig turned to King, "Recently?"

"Long story, we'll tell you about it if Luz gets that sleepover," King said.

"Well, nice to formally meet you Miss Owl Lady," Hop Pop said.

"The pleasure is all mine, and you can call me Eda, little frog man," the woman said, winking at Hop Pop, getting a flustered reaction from the old frog.

"Oh my...well," Hop Pop stumbled over his words.

"Heh, I can't tell if I should be laughing at the awkwardness or horrified by the thought of Eda flirting with a frog," King said, then turned to Sprig. "Uh, no offense."

"It's a bit weird from my end too, so you're not alone," Sprig said. Suddenly the portal began acting up, electricity scattering about. "Uh, what's happening!?"

"Oh no! The Portal! It's too unstable!" Luz shouted in worry. "Eda, King, we gotta go!"

The portal started acting intense, lightning was shooting out, causing some worry for Eda, the older witch looking mistrusting of the sight before her, "Hold up kid, that portal doesn't look safe."

"But if we don't try, then we'll-" As Luz approached it, some lightning zapped her back, getting the girl across the shoulder and knocking her to the ground.

"Luz!" Anne shouted in worry.

"Oh crap, this isn't good!" Eda worriedly ran to the girl, checking to make sure she was still breathing. "She's alive, but she's hurt pretty badly!"

"Eda!" King gestured to the portal that started spiraling out of control.

"Everyone, run for your lives!" Hop Pop shouted.

Eda grabbed Luz in her arms and ran out of harm's way as the portal exploded, causing a huge gust of wind that was visible from Wartwood.

One such frog girl, Ivy Sundew looked amazed by the sights before her, "Oh dang..."

Once it was all set and done, Hop Pop took it upon himself to check the area the portal was formed at, seeing nothing but a soot filled crater. "That was close." He turned back to Eda, "Eh, sorry ma'am, looks like you're stuck here for a bit."

"Well, there goes my day," Eda said, feeling more annoyed than concerned. "Still, I'm more worried about Luz than that portal."

Hop Pop checked over the girl, seeing where the lightning struck. "It looks bad, but it's still treatable, and if I can't get her fixed up, well there's plenty of kind folk in town who would be able to help."

"Selling our town kind of high, aren't you Hop Pop?" Polly asked.

"Oh hush now, child," Hop Pop scolded. "Our house isn't too far from here; think you can manage carrying her over?"

"Kid's pretty light, probably because she doesn't eat as much as she should," Eda said.

"Hey a lot of our food isn't exactly good for humans," King said. "From the sound if things, this place isn't any better."

"You get used to it, after a long while," Anne said.

"I'd be happy to feed her the meal I had planned tonight, but we don't have all the ingredients," Hop Pop said.

"I doubt this girl would want to eat your suffering," Polly said.

"You mean my souffle," Hop Pop corrected.

"I know what I said," Polly sassed back.

"Guess we can order some take-out from Stumpy's," Hop Pop said, reaching into his pocket. "Huh? Where'd my wallet go?"

Eda nervously looked around, then quickly gestured to a nearby leaf. "Is that it?"

As Hop Pop and the others turned their attention, Eda quickly tossed the wallet to the ground near Hop Pop's feet, something only King noticed.

"Really?" the little demon scolded.

"What? We're tight for cash remember?" Eda whispered.

Hop Pop turned back to Eda, "No that's just a leaf."

"Your wallet's by your feet Hop Pop," Polly said, gesturing to the item.

"Oh my, must have dropped it," Hop Pop said, picking it up. "Alright, it's not too far a walk to the house, let's get Luz all better and get something for her to eat."

"Sounds good to me sir," King said, then turned to Eda. "You ready?" The older witch was looking back where the portal was, feeling quite worried. King could sense she was bothered, "Hey, are you worried?"

"Huh?" Eda turned to King. "No, of course not." King's glare told her that he wasn't buying it. "Alright, maybe a little."

"Hey if worse comes to worse, Luz can try casting the spell again, maybe we'll be able to go back home," King said.

"I hope so, I'm mostly worried for my sister though," Eda said.

"Don't worry, I left a note for her," King said.

"Well that helps, probably," Eda said, feeling pessimistic.

"Anne's been looking for a way home too, maybe the King can help Luz," Sprig said.

"Yeah I don't do well with Authority Figures," Eda said.

"Oh don't worry, King Andrias is really nice, and maybe he knows about this Boiling Isles place too," Sprig said. "I mean, he seems to have known about Earth, maybe he's heard of your home world too."

"Sorry to interrupt, but we really should get that girl some medical attention fast," Hop Pop said.

"Yeah you're right," Eda said.

"I'll personally do whatever I can to help you three get used to this world, you have my word," Anne said.

"That'd be nice...Anne was it?" Eda asked.

"That's me," Anne said. "I survived here for months, if a girl like me can adapt, I'd say anyone can, and something tells me that Luz is a fast adapter."

"Got that right," Eda said. "Now let's hurry, somehow she feels heavier."

"I can try to carry her," Anne said.

"Anne, no offense, but your arms look like twigs," Polly said.

"Uh, these arms got me through a sword fight with my best friend, I even held back a giant bug monster during my first weak here, and that this was freaking huge. I can handle carrying a girl close to my age," Anne said.

"Sword fight? Best friend?" Eda asked. "Oh this I gotta hear about. Here you go."

Eda placed Luz in Anne's arms, the girl stumbling a second but maintaining her balance, "Wow, she's pretty light actually. Come on, onward to the farm."

Meanwhile at the Owl House, Lilith and Hooty had finally returned home, the two carrying bags of groceries, or rather, mostly Lilith.

"Eda! Luz! King! We're home!" Lilith called.

"And we have food!" Hooty called. "Lulu picked out some great things!"

"Within our budget at least!" Lilith said, looking around. "Eda!? Luz!? King!?"

"What's that!?" Hooty said, gesturing to a portal, one that looked out of control. "That looks dangerous."

Lilith cautiously approached it, but as she did so, the portal had exploded, the shockwaves knocking her back and onto the ground. "Ow..."

"Oh my, you're not hurt are you?" Hooty asked, checking on his friend.

"I'm fine," Lilith insisted as she looked around, it wasn't long before she found King's note, "What's this?" She began reading it out loud. "Gone to human world, be back later."

"Is that what that portal was?" Hooty asked. "Might be hard to come back."

"It should be fine, I mean Luz has the..." Lilith noticed the Journal on the ground where she got her spell. "Oh no..."

"Well there's that little Echo…" She saw that the mouse was there too, hiding in the corner. "Think Luz would mind if I eat that mouse?"

"Hooty!" Lilith scolded.

"Right, not the time," Hooty said.

Lilith was clearly concerned, her sister and friends may be stranded on Earth and she has no way of getting there, she had to think of something and fast.

As the Plantars and their guests made their way home and Lilith freaked out about this new development, elsewhere trouble was brewing. Emperor Belos was seen using a portal of his own while the Golden Guard waited impatiently nearby.

"So what about your plans to invade the Human World?" the guard asked. "I mean, is it over or are you just taking a break?"

"You will see in due time," Belos said. "Some things require extra assistance."

"Assistance? But uncle, isn't Earth a non-magical place?" The Guard asked. "Why would we need assistance bringing it down, it should be as easy as toppling a sandcastle."

"In its roots, Earth has no magic. But several strange anomalies have happened, including contact with a world even beyond our own," Belos said.

"More worlds sir?" The Guard asked.

"Surely you know of the multiverse, worlds beyond our own," Belos said. "I myself have read about them, learning all I can, should I wish to spread my empire elsewhere. Though, much as I would love to clasp onto such a notion, even some things I can't do alone. For now that is."

"So what does this have to do with this portal you're making?" The Guard asked. "Furthermore, since when can you make these portals? If you could do that, would you even need a door to Earth?"

"Ancient magic protects that realm due to the weak inhabitants of that realm, as for how that magic was casted, that is something I am still looking into, but if my theory proves correct, I may find the realm that has the closest connection to Earth," Belos said. "Long ago there was an army that sought to rule over a realm of magic, not too different than ours, but still with its own...flavor as I shall call it. This army was led by one of the most ruthless warriors in the multiverse, Toffee."

"Uh, Toffee?" The Guard asked. "That does not sound very intimidating."

"A name is not reflective of actions, and Toffee was indeed ruthless, to the point where the Queen of that realm had to resort to dark magic to defeat him, at least momentarily," Belos explained. "That realm is known as 'Mewni', containing a species are very similar to humans, but unlike those on Earth, these Mewmans have been exposed to great magic, especially from their Queen."

"Who is their Queen?" The Guard asked.

"Last I checked, it was a woman named Moon Butterfly, who is in the process of grooming her daughter into becoming the next Queen," Belos said.

"So why are you connecting to this Mewni place?" the Guard asked. "Is it to find that Toffee guy?"

"Finding Toffee may prove difficult, considering he's dead," Belos said. "At least, for the moment he is."

"For the moment? Uncle, you mean to resurrect him?" The Guard asked. "That should be impossible! Even someone of your capabilities can't hope to revive someone from the dead!" One sinister glare to his direction caused the boy to immediately try to reword his statement. "Wh-what I meant was, it's highly difficult to pull off!"

"My plans far exceed Toffee, I would settle for just his army, or others like him," Belos said. "In addition however, Mewni has other bits of magic that can prove to be useful, if any realm knows how to effortlessly travel worlds, it's this one. There are many ways to achieve our plans nephew, it is merely a matter of being creative."

The ominous future led by Belos caused a strange chill across Mewni, specifically it's Princess, Star Butterfly, the girl in her room while her best friend Marco Diaz was reading up on books from the castle library.

"Oooh, chills..." Star looked outside her castle window. "Something's going to happen soon... something epic."
