My Beast Evolution System

Chapter 5: 05. Diana.

With a determined gaze, Aaron struck again and again, and with each swing, he seemed to be improving, but after just three minutes, sweat could be seen dripping down his forehead as his breathing became a bit unsteady.

"I never knew sword training was this difficult," Aaron muttered to himself while breathing heavily.

"It's completely different from what I'm used to seeing in movies," Aaron wiped away the sweat on his forehead, but before he could continue his training, he suddenly heard a female voice behind him.

"You're doing it wrong," Diana's voice dragged his attention towards the entrance of the room, and he saw a stunning dark elf with silver-colored hair and hazel eyes standing at the entrance with her arms crossed in front of her.

The expression on her face was just as stoic as the tone of her voice. "If you keep doing that, you'll never improve," Diana informed him coldly.

"What do I have to do, to do it correctly?" Aaron asked, but Diana remained silent for a while, wondering why the Baron's son was suddenly interested in learning how to fight.

She had been in the mansion for a few months now, but she had never seen him come here until today.

Since she didn't know why he was currently training, Diana decided not to think too much about it.

Actually, she could guess why he was here and there were a ton of reasons why he would be here.

But the main reason she could think of right now was that Aaron wanted to leave town once again, but this time, he wanted to know how to use a sword to protect himself on the way. Although Diana didn't care about the Baron's son, she didn't want to see him train so terribly without giving him a few pointers if he was interested in learning from her.

Diana was only doing this out of respect for his father. It was her way of repaying the kindness his father had shown her and her kind in his barony.

And so, with this thought in mind, Diana reluctantly decided to help him.

She fully stepped into the room and grabbed a wooden sword as well before giving out instructions and advice. "Your stance is off, and you're putting too much strength into your swings. If you really want to do it, then you have to do it properly, like this," Diana demonstrated to Aaron how he needed to position his body and swing his sword, and Aaron noticed how flawless her form was, compared to his amateurish display.

Looking at the beautiful elf in front of him, Aaron noticed that Diana had the appearance of a young lady in her mid-twenties when she was actually more than a hundred years old.

It was fascinating to see how elves could live for such long periods of time and still maintain a youthful appearance. This also made him wonder just how old the elf princess was.

Bringing his mind back to what was more important right now, Aaron could see just how experienced Diana was in combat based on how she moved and demonstrated various sword styles and techniques in front of him.

"Now, you try," Diana instructed, and Aaron mimicked her actions, adjusting his posture to what he had seen Diana do just now. To his surprise, his next strike was much better than the ones he had been doing before.

"Not bad, but don't go thinking that that will make you ready for battle. You'll be killed instantly if you face off against a real enemy with your current strength."

Aaron nodded while breathing heavily, and then he replied with a look of determination on his face. "Then I guess I have a lot to learn."

"Yes, you do," Diana simply said in response.

Then she turned towards the entrance of the room, but before she could leave, Aaron quickly called out to her.

"Diana."

Diana halted in her steps and turned back to look at him.

"Thanks for saving me. I wouldn't be alive right now if it weren't for you."

Diana didn't say anything in return but her lips twitched a bit, almost as though she had been about to smile, before leaving the room to attend to other matters.

Meanwhile, Aaron let out a little smile before focusing his mind back on his training.

The next morning, sunlight spilled into his room, brightening up his bedroom.

Aaron was currently sitting by the window, staring at the town from the high viewpoint of his room. The streets were quite scanty and the once busy street full of people had now been reduced to a few desperate merchants walking through the streets.

The people of the town were hungry, but most importantly, they were afraid of when the next beast tide would happen.

Their fears were even more than usual due to the absence of the Baron who had been killed during the last beast tide.

Leaving the town would also be extremely difficult at the moment because the other towns were wary about allowing anyone in, and they wouldn't be able to allow the people of El Dorado to step into their town for several reasons, but the main reason was that every other town had limited resources and food to take care of refugees.

So, in a nutshell, there was only one thing left to do right now, and that was to reclaim the farmlands and chase or possibly destroy the demonic beasts currently occupying the farmlands.

While thinking of all these, a smile appeared on Aaron's face. "Who would have thought that a wildlife biologist like me, would be thinking of willingly attacking beasts that I could easily be focused on studying at the moment."

Although the idea of studying these demonic beasts crossed his mind, but with what he had heard from Luna, the demonic beasts looked like feral creatures that were capable of tearing the flesh of anyone within their sight and Aaron didn't want to see those dangerous creatures running through the streets of his town, especially since his little sister was here as well.

Without even knowing, Aaron had subconsciously developed a protective instinct to keep his little sister alive.

He didn't know why, but he could feel like it was the right thing to do.

His lips widened even more as he placed a hand on his chest. "It seems the previous Aaron really cared for his little sister, but he had just been too scared to become the big brother Luna expected him to be."

He lifted his head and stared at the streets once again. "Too bad, though, the townsfolk see you as a coward right now. Anyways, the beasts have to be stopped before the capital falls like all the other towns and villages within the barony," He muttered to himself before hearing a knock on his bedroom door.
