Chapter 9: 09. Learning More About The System.
The next morning, Aaron woke up to the sound of a soft knock on his bedroom door. He groaned while sitting up, as his whole body ached from yesterday's training session and battle.
Even Aaron was impressed with the things he did yesterday. It really said a lot about how he was willing to adapt to his new environment and it spoke volumes about his desire to survive in this world filled with magical and demonic beasts.
With his mind filled with these thoughts, Aaron suddenly heard the knock on his door again.
"Come in," He finally called out. Luna peeked her head through the door and her face lit up the moment she noticed that he was awake.
With a smile and a giggle, she skipped into the room with a greeting. "Good morning big brother."
"Good morning, Luna."
"I heard you were outside last night..... Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. And, well… we have a guest,"
"A guest?"
"Yes," Aaron rubbed the back of his neck before looking towards the corner of the room where the fox was resting. He noticed how the red fur of the Glimmerfox blended in with the dark corner of the room.
Luna also followed the direction that he was looking in and her eyes widened the moment she noticed the cute little fox. "Aww, it's adorable!!"
"You think so?" Aaron asked with a chuckle.
"Yes, big brother, she's cute, just like me."
Aaron burst into laughter after hearing what Luna said. "Well, if you say so."
Luna approached the little fox cautiously to have a better look at it. "Is it hurt?"
"Not anymore."
"Where did you find it?"
"At the edge of the forest. Some demonic beasts were after it, so I saved it."
Luna looked up at him and her facial expression turned into that of concern. "You shouldn't be in the forest by yourself, big brother. It's dangerous out there."
"I know, Luna. But I need to learn. I have to be prepared to handle the next wave of beasts."
Luna frowned with concern but didn't say anything else. She was just glad her big brother didn't try to leave her alone in the mansion.
It was nice to have him around and it certainly looked like he was changing as well.
Bringing her attention back to the Glimmerfox, Luna began to gently stroke the fox's red fur, and the fox also leaned into her touch as it let out a soft, contented sound.
"Does she have a name?"
"Nope."
"What will you name her?" Luna asked Aaron while patting the fox with a smile on her face.
Aaron hesitated for a moment because he hadn't thought about it yet, but after a minute, he replied. "Glimmer, it seems like a fitting name."
"Glimmer," Luna repeated the name and she agreed with a nod. "I like it."
Glimmer yipped in excitement. It turned out the little fox liked her new name as well.
The Glimmerfox had red colored fur, but its body would glow and shine anytime it was excited or enjoying the feeling of a hand stroking her fur. So Aaron thought it was a fitting name for the little fox.
Luna continued to pet the fox a bit more until she was satisfied. Then she stood up and turned to Aaron.
"Breakfast is almost ready, big brother. Would you like me to bring it to you?"
"Yes, thank you, Luna."
"You're welcome. Okay, I'll bring it to you right after I've taken my bath."
"So, you haven't bathed yet?"
"Hehe… I had to see my favorite brother before doing anything else," She said and didn't wait to hear what Aaron had to say before leaving his room in a hurry.
Aaron smiled as he watched the little girl run out of his room to finally have her bath.
He leaned back in his bed as he tried to make sense of the things that happened yesterday.
'So, the beast evolution system appeared the moment I tried to touch Glimmer.'
'Does this mean I'll be able to evolve her.'
'But how?'
'I wonder if it has to do with loyalty?' He mulled over these thoughts, but since the system couldn't reply to any of his questions, he decided to focus on something else.
'Anyways, I wonder if I will be able to view my status just like in novels and anime I have seen.'
'Well, I won't know unless I try it out.'
'Okay, Let's give it a try.'
With his mind fixed on what he wanted to do, Aaron decided to utter the word 'Status' in his mind, and the moment he did, a holographic blue screen appeared before him, displaying his name and a few other details about him.

=======
'Woah, it really worked.'
'Hmm, so Glimmer's first skill will be unlocked the moment her loyalty reaches 10%,' He uttered in his thoughts.
'Does this mean she has more chances of unlocking more skills once her loyalty increases even further?'
'Well, I guess I'll have to find out as our bond continues to increase.'
'Speaking of bond, what exactly is this bond energy, and what can it do?'
Aaron wondered about this because he recalled that he had used ten bond energy points to heal Glimmer the previous night and now it seemed like the bond energy points could also be used to evolve the beasts he had bonded with.
Aaron also noticed the question mark sign in front of his bond energy points, and he wondered what it meant; then the screen in front of him suddenly changed, displaying the details of what the bond energy points were.
[The host can use Bond energy points to heal injured beasts and it can also be used to evolve your beasts into new, stronger forms.]
[The bond energy also helps to strengthen your bond with a beast, making it easier for your beast to become more loyal to you.]
Aaron read all the details displayed in front of him and wondered how he would be able to gain more bond energy.
And as though the system could read his mind, the screen suddenly changed to display the information Aaron wanted to know.
